Like so many others, I can wait to see how this turns out.
Area Diesel is approaching this modification as if it was going to be a factory production kit, instead of cobbling something up.

As an ex truck driver I can tell you that while a straight pipe can sound great, the downside is after several hours and many years you pay the price. I have tinnitus now with a slight hearing loss not profound but enough it shows during a physical.

    • @glenbreaks5448

      @@TractorTimewithTim
I have self inflicted hearing loss as well. I finally got some hearing aids 2 years ago, very helpful. They also reduce the Tinnitus. If I forget to put them in the Tinnitus starts screaming.
The thing with hearing loss is that you don't want to wait too long before getting the hearing aids. As the Specialist explained to me- The brain "unlearns" how to
      convert sound into words.
It does not relearn when the hearing aids are added. That loss of function is permanent. When the brain cannot decipher the sound, the hearing aids just provide you with more sound, you still won't be able to convert this to words.
So don't wait around on the decision to get hearing aids.
They are almost invisible and work really well ( if used soon enough!)

It will be interesting to see what the sound level is if a muffler is not put back on. My 450c Deere came from the factory with a straight pipe off the turbo. I got to where I would even wear ear plugs under ear muffs if moving dirt for more than a short period.
One of the biggest detriments to adding turbo chargers to an engine is cooling capacity, both water and oil. Most factory turbo charged engines also have oil squirters inside directed to shoot at the bottom side of the pistons to help keep them cool.
Area diesel is good people and isn't too far from us. A friend of mine 20-25 years ago bought a VW diesel vanagon, VW ended up buying many of these back as they were totally underpowered lemons trying to push that barn door front end along. Area Diesel figured out the turbo specifics needed and my friend made all the manifolds and piping to install. What a difference, before the van struggled to make 55mph on the highway, after the turbo install it would cruise at 70mph. At highway speeds you definitely knew it was turbo charged.

My 4410 exhaust used to exit in the same general area as your exhaust exits. It's a fine location for just about all tractor implements. It's horrible for the front mount snow blower so now my exhaust comes out the side of the hood and up. That location is ok for everything but working in the trees. You need to watch for branches. A vertical exhaust is also a bit noisier. Those down sides are still better than the constant exhaust smell with the snow blower.

great videos Tim! and fantastic idea, I have a CK2610 Kioti and sometimes I wondered what it would do if you could add a turbo to the motor. Even tho the CK series has a 35 and a 40 hp model. Not sure if its the same motor or not. but I believe they share the same hydraulic design . it would be and interesting comparison.

I normally don't comment on video's. I want to see every detail from start to finish. I'm hopping that there are more than 1 video from here to running? Unless its just that easy a slapping a turbo on it and "let N her fly".

Next step is to put it in a tractor pull with all that extra power. 😆 🤣 thanks for the update and God Bless

What kind of power boost do the guy’s building this expect? Maybe someday they will have a kit for the 3 series tractors! I’m sure John Deere will be ok with putting a turbo on the tractor 🚜. lol! My 3035 just has 130 hours so I still have a lot of warranty left. When it’s out I would definitely be interested in a turbo!

Loving the series! Only thing I didn't like was they tapped the block instead of buying the correct fitting adapter.

Yea, I need to ask more detail on that.

I thought the same thing. My guess is the metric fittings needed are not readily available. The 1/8 inch NPT in that fitting should not be an issue.

They sure look like they know what they are doing. Do you have any info on what they're doing with that Gator in the background? Good day!
