Have my XT30 with 27mm (as well as 35mm 1.4 & 18mm). Couldn't be happier. It's all I need and more. Especially if you actual use it to take photos and don't spend 70% of your time online worrying about which camera makes you look the best.
I've owned x100's since the start. I'm a pro publicity shooter with many tools for my work. Medium format, 35mm full frame, etc. If my house is on fire I'd grab two cameras, my x100vi and my xf10 that I converted to IR. That says everything.
Brandon, did you see that you can dramatically increase auto focus by changing the out of box settings; - Menu > Auto Focus AF-C Custom Settings > Custom 6 - Set 'Tracking Setting' to +4 - Set Speed Tracking to +2 The last camera I owned before this was the X100F, where the autofocus was painfully slow. The X100VI performed well right out of the box, but after making these changes, it's insanely fast. I can't imagine why this isn't the default setup, but it's noticeably, dramatically faster. Definitely worth trying ;)
I would’ve loved to have gotten one, but it immediately selling out the moment it got announced, I knew that it wasn’t going to be a reality. Jumped at the X-T50 preorder instead, and I got that day one no problem. It’s just as compact (maybe a bit smaller?) and does pretty much everything the X100VI does, (same sensor, IBIS) plus the ability to use interchangeable lenses (and that new 16-50mm kit lens is so good!!!). And put the 27mm f2.8 pancake on it and it’s super compact… pretty much my walk around camera of choice these days.
@@desoriordan9515 I live in Vancouver, and it rains a lot here. I thought about the lack of weather sealing, but so far for me it hasn’t been an issue. I wouldn’t be carrying this camera in rugged harsh weather wilderness shoots anyway; it’s not designed for that. But during the occasional rain shower with incidental light rain splashes, it hasn’t been a problem.
@@desoriordan9515 I was just thinking about that. I have an X100V and it is a great camera. The only reason I would part with it is to upgrade to the VI for the IBIS and improved sensor. I don't really need (or care about) the 40MP, but the other improvements are just enough to make me want an upgrade. The XT50 is attractive, but I really want the WX sealing so I don't have to worry about dust, snow, or a little rain. So, the XT50 isn't appropriate for my use case. I have interchangeable lens cameras for those times I want that capability. But a good part of the time I'm out and about and just want a solid camera with me. @@desoriordan9515the x100vi isn’t weather sealed either so a xt50 is a perfect alternative. Even with the adpapter the x100vi only gets to be weather resistant, not sealed.
I used to have an X100 (original) as my EDC camera when commuting to work and going out with friends. Multiple things annoywed me on that camera, and I stopped using it a little bit after I lost my job due to COVID. I sold it when I was unemployed to finance the purchase of another camera (a used Fuji X-H1) to take on more photography jobs in my free time and get something on the table. At the time that I sold it, I was able to sell it for double the price I paid for it a couple of years prior and it felt like a no brainer. I didn't think I would miss it at all, I had other small-ish cameras (like an X-T1) that could fit the same kind of use case. But then, I got a new job. And now I needed to commute again. And this is where I realized how good the "X100 formula" is : large sensor compact camera with an actually usable OVF and a fixed bright lens that fits in a jacket pocket. My X-T1 needed a separate pouch in my backpack, it would never fit in a pocket or anything like that (and living in France's highest crimerate city at the time, I simply couldn't carry it around my neck). So I searched for alternatives. All X100 models were super expensive on the used market and I would not spend upwards of 500€ for an original X100 again : the defect that made me stop using it didn't dissapear. So I looked at other cameras that weren't affected by the hype (yet). First was the LX100. Nice camera, but the lens was taking too long to open, viewfinder experience was mediocre and with the lens extended it was huge, I just could not keep it on around my neck at all. So nope. I then tried the smaller non-retro LX5 which has a smaller sensor, it was okay (I still have it) but the external EVF absolutely sucks, IQ was meh and the lens was still taking too long to open. I kept it as a small camera I have at work for when we need a macro shot of a PCB or something, works quite well for that. I then came to the conclusion that the only camera that could ever replace my X100 was another X100 camera. I saw a listing for an X100S for 300€ sold for parts : the power button doesn't turn and the previous user didn't know if it even worked. He sold it with everything he had for it : leather case, 6 batteries (!), multiple straps, OG packaging, ect. Bought it, applied a bit of alcohol and dental floss to the power button to remove most of the gunk, then applied some WD40 and deepcleaned the rest of the camera : works and looks like new now. The improvements the X100S brought over the X100 are basically fixing all the issues I had with the original. One thing for sure, I'm never selling this one. The formula is just too good and there is nothing on the market like it. There is something to be said about the gouged prices of used X100 cameras : paying upwards of 800 USD for an X100S or X100T should be illegal, and I don't know why so many people still do it. Some cameras like the X100F sell used over their MSRP cost adjusted for inflation. This is just absolutely nuts. I understand the appeal, as you've seen in that long-ass comment, but some other brand needs to come out with a REAL competitor to the X100 : otherwise those prices will never come down. Also, I know this is a sponsored bit and you have the list of words you need to say about MPB, BUT... ... I have used MPB Europe a few dozen times. Their teams are NOT experts. They are simply employees checking for basic stuff, but never in depth like KEH does. Out of the 25 or so purchases I';ve made through them, I've had maybe 12 products that were either faulty, had a defect that wasn't listed because the item wasn't checked properly, or simply had the wrong listing for it (I bought a Sigma SD Quattro H at a much lower price because they confused it with an SD Quattro non-H for example). My advice : MPB has a super good return policy so CHECK EVERYTHING IN DETAIL. If there is something wrong (and most of the time, there will be), use the return policy.
Thank you for the detail! I see no point in this once-affordable-and, presumably, once-FINDABLE-camera after the hype/scarcity machine inflated it. I can buy more camera for the money, and buy it TODAY.
go for smaller camera stores, should be shorter wait time, got mine here from Lebanon, only fujifilm importer, in under 2 weeks, they had 25 orders for it, one of those orders backed out when stock arrived, i was number 26, and i got it
If would recommend ordering from local small retailers rather than adorama or b&h. They have shorter waitlists and you can also save on shipping if it’s local. The big box retailers probably have wait lists 500 deep. Local shops probably only have fewer than 50 people on their waitlists
I've pre-ordered mine a couple of hours after the official announcement, and, as of today, I'm still waiting. Not gonna lie-the wait is starting to get to me.
Ordered mine in first week od August and last week got a call from local retailer that the camera is available. Two months of waiting. I am based in Poland.
I went through all my photography gear not being used and sold it to mpb. To their credit they agreed to all my estimated conditions and even (unexpectedly!) added £5 per lens because I sold them with box and leaflet stuff. Very impressed with them! Now I solely own my little X100T, which is more than enough for my family/holiday snaps.
I pre-ordered it for my 60th birthday in February 2024 and picked it up on my birthday. I loved the lighter X100F, but the VI improves on all fronts. As with the video, my only complaint is that sometimes the autofocus is wrong. Ultimately, it makes me look and compose with the simulation I'm using in mind, which is great fun, capturing the 'spirit of place' rather than just a moment in time. This, like my Lumix LX3s, is a keeper (both broken. Grr, great black-and-white images) along with the X100F.
Great video, always amazed how you manage to make every image and video look so nice lol. Currently own a X-S20 and combined with a compact prime it’s my favourite way to shoot photos, could definitely see why the X100VI is so popular.
Your better off with the X-S20, the one focal length on the X100 series can get a bit boring after a while if you fancy doing some wildlife shots etc and it's your only camera.
By the time I will be able to purchase one in stock the next generation X100 will have released. It has been 5 months since preorders opened at B&H on February 20, and they still have not fullfilled all day one orders yet. Orders placed on the 21st got emails saying to expect delivery in December 2024.
While this is true, when it comes to cameras, a new(er) generation isn't always correlated with it being a better piece of gear. There are things that the x100vi leaves to be desired if you nitpick some of the nuances, but it has already achieved 100%-and-more of its goals and it's perfectly suited for the purposes it was created for.
My email stated Dec 31st and it’s not an actual date bc when you continue reading it states there can be delays into 2025. I went to B&H and canceled my order today. Customer service gave me a look like “I don’t blame you”.
I ordered my X100vi during the release and received mine in March. Lucky I guess! But I truly love this little camera and it is a real pleasure to use, I carry it with me daily.
Love it. Sold the X100V before, but this ND + IBIS makes the difference for me. I use it so often for long exposure shots during the day, it's a game changer.
I've seen SOOC Jpegs out of my Fuji that at my BEST in RAW would take me at least 30+ mins to create in post. Even then, some can't be replicated in post. Genius from Fuji.
For those of you waiting: wait until you find out fuji stated they have no intention of ramping up production of the camera. They are doing that because they want to keep the price high for it.
Since you use multiple cameras, maybe you can make a video sharing how you organise/backup all your photos? Idk about others but that's something I would love to see
I placed my order with B&H right after the announcement. I just got an email from them saying that I should expect mine between December and March next year. Lol, I'm not in a rush and don't mind waiting
Wow last week I just entered a camera shop and asked if they have one (this is my first and a friend recommended it) and they told me they had just one, now I know why he took a moment before saying they had one. I was extremely lucky for what I’m seeing.
Great discussion! I just subscribed. I had an older model of the 100 series which i regret getting rid of. And this is the one camera i just can’t stop wanting to get. I think i may need to place an order and wait a year. ;-/
Been shooting Fuji for 20 years. Nikon for a few before that. My advice, get any Fuji over 10 megapixels and take it for a ride. They all give me the same feeling, excitement to shoot. I took my x20 (no T) and it was so fun, just walked around took a bunch of abstract photos and smiled the whole time. Tldr, buy any Fuji, get out of the model hype.
Until this year I was using a x100t. I was lucky I got my vi within four weeks of ordering. I found it a big step up and I found the AF fast coming from the t. My other camera is a XH2 and found they complement each other.
I got mine at launch without a waiting list because my small local store had some in stock. I used it for a couple of months and sold it last month. It’s definitely not worth the wait. It was fun for a short while, but I didn't like the files and the lens, especially compared to my Sony’s and Leica Q3. I've also had an X-T2 and X-E2, which I actually liked more than the X100 series. I sold all my Fuji gear and never looked back..The brand recently stated they want to be the new Leica and are keeping stock low to bump the price and maintain high demand. (Which isn't even what Leica is doing; they just can't produce more units in Germany and Portugal, if I'm not mistaken). No more Fuji for me.
Good to know that it can get stuck focus hunting. My partner and I have old DSLRs for hobby photography and her main gripe with our Rebel T3i is the weak autofocus.
Used gear at MPB right now is way over priced. So I'm not sure what that says for the camera scene today, but I'm not spending any money on over priced used gear. I'm sure it's not MPB's fault but the influencers and TikTok hype that has caused the increase in prices. Don't buy, wait until this all changes and use your cell phone, you already own a good camera..
Hi! I own a canon EOS 100D (gifted a long time ago) and I’m looking for something more recent but not as « high end ». Should I get a fuji or stick with the canon? I would rather have something lighter but I dont want to spend money if that’s not really necessary. (I’m a beginner in photography)
Love Fuji and several cameras and kit, can’t help feeling that if Sony, Nikon or Canon were to produce their versions ( yes aware Sony tried/ failed) the must have factor of the Fuji x100 could crumble pretty quickly 😵
Both are great, but I personally find myself reaching for the GRiii way more for a few reasons. If Im walking around and see a shot, it takes seconds to grab the griii where as the x100V is more challenging to get out of my bag and turned on. The Griii also has film simulations programmable to your main dial, so its very easy to play and be creative. And finally, you may find yourself prioritizing between the x100vi and another main camera body if you have limited carry capacity, but you will always have room for the griii. The only benefit the x100vi has is the 40mp sensor which is good for cropping, but both do amazing in low light. Hope this helps! I love both my cameras, but I was shocked at just how good my griii is, and new on ebay it was half the price of rhe x100vi
I have a X70 for street photography. Don't use it so much these days and I don't really want to sell it cuz cameras like this probably won't be made again.
I'm on the fence of which 'fun' camera to get for a while now. On one hand my main kit isn't even completely built out yet, but I've got some serious GAS around this topic. The most fun setup I can imagine and afford right now would probably be the Nikon ℤ ƒ with the Voigtländer 50mm APO-Lanthar, which is my favorite lens on E-Mount and I'd absolutely buy another copy for the ℤ ƒ.
Yes. Fuji sells both a wide angle and tele attachment lens. But definitely watch reviews before buying. Note they are equivalent to 28mm and 50mm respectively, so they won’t get very wide nor offer much reach.
Back when the first two or three generations came out, compact APS-C was unheard of. Today you can buy small full frame bodies with compact lenses. The novelty is gone, the prices went to the moon and the alternatives are available immediately, even used ones. As much as I like these little cameras, the hype around them these days is just stupid.
Since it's so popular, why isn't Fujifilm focus on make this camera in mass production. If there are over supply of this camera, then it might not have so much success like today
fuji is artificially creating demand by limiting supply. they're trying to be leica. that thing isn't worth 1600€. and certainly not more than 2000€ in used condition. the x100f was also sold out even without tiktok and it also wasn't worth MSRP.
I love the way it looks, but I hate that they call themselves Fujifilm while killing off film. Back in the day, we only called them Fuji. They should drop the film if they don't want to make it.
This camera line was made popular by people who spray and pray they took a good photo cause they lack the basic skill of composition when using a real film camera.
Just got mine. By the way went to store here in Mexico and bought it, no waiting . Anyways I’m a little disappointed so far I think my iPhone 15 takes better photos 😢
Bought one and sold it. I dont see whats special about it. Lens is nothing special. My all time favourite 35mm compact camera is rx1. But that too is very hard to come by.
Preordered mine at henrys in store at open day 1 of pre orders and was told they were already backordered from online sales... lmfao 0 care for physical in person pre orders / sales so just be like the rest of the scalper scum the retailers cater to and scalp it. just get a business line of credit and a bot and ez claps for scalpers in my area (southern Ontario) there's 20+ for sale scalped... yet actual people who care for it are waiting still and zero absolutely f'ing zero care from henrys just well uh well uh well uh corporate word salad.
Is it fun? Nope. Is it satisfying? Nope. Is it useable? Nope. ... mostly because it isn't. This camera isn't available. Anywhere. To anyone, Except, of course, to "influencers." Trying their best to influence us normies into trying to buy something that just does not really exist. I ordered mine two hours after they went "on sale." This was mid-February. I have been advised it will possibly/maybe/good luck to you "delivered" in late 2024. Wowzer. Is it worth the wait? Nope. Us normies can just put a 28mm pancake lens on our boring Canon R5's and move on to actually taking photos.
No Clue what you are Talking about. The Camera is in Store everywhere here in Germany. They have so many they must even sell them. You are trying to create a hype like a cheap Newspaper would.
Does the internet really love this camera? Look at the low shutter count from the second hand X100T, X100F, X100V camera's that are for sale. It's all about hype, FOMO, fashion statement, showing off, good for one YT video, scalping. I'm keeping my original X100 black limited edition because I like the looks, but I would never buy a new X100. Fixed lens / fixed focal length is nothing for me, OVF feels a bit like a gimmick and gets obstructed once you add a filter or hood and subject separation is pretty limited from an APS-C sensor with a 23mm F2 lens. Seeing all those low shutter counts make me think others have the same sentiment as me.
It's only an APS sensor, not that many megapixels, not very good at AF or high ISO, fixed slowish lens, not great WR sealing - all good I suppose if you want to pay big bucks to be a trend-victim. I prefer to have a camera made to fulfil a real purpose not some retro-toy from the 1990s film compacts following tick tickers.

I ended up getting the X-T50 instead. Pretty much the same Camera with minor differences.
My email stated Dec 31st and it’s not an actual date bc when you continue reading it states there can be delays into 2025. I went to B&H and canceled my order today. Customer service gave me a look like “I don’t blame you”.
Only way for you to buy one, without waiting in line is
Become a TH-camr, Fuji will give you VIP treatment and get it easily.
@@mattlife25Me too but I kept my order on the X100VI
I ordered my X100vi during the release and received mine in March. Lucky I guess! But I truly love this little camera and it is a real pleasure to use, I carry it with me daily.
Love it. Sold the X100V before, but this ND + IBIS makes the difference for me. I use it so often for long exposure shots during the day, it's a game changer.
Wow this was a great video thank you!
Thanx for this breakdown!!!
Thanks for the great review, felt really informative even as someone from outside the world of photography.
I had a X100VI …. sold it. Got another one. Sold it.
It’s a great camera. Honestly I’d rather have an X100V.
I find using zone focus mode makes it a bit faster and more accurate in taking photos.
Until this year I was using a x100t. I was lucky I got my vi within four weeks of ordering. I found it a big step up and I found the AF fast coming from the t.
My other camera is a XH2 and found they complement each other.
A low shutter count Olympus Pen F may also be worth considering from the secondhand market.
Stunning build quality and a similar design ethos.
Always wished they made a new Pen F.
I have an XE 4, looking foward to XE 5 next year
Hi! I own a canon EOS 100D (gifted a long time ago) and I’m looking for something more recent but not as « high end ». Should I get a fuji or stick with the canon? I would rather have something lighter but I dont want to spend money if that’s not really necessary. (I’m a beginner in photography)
Built-in ND filters is a really dope feature I did not know about
It's underrated as a feature
Great Review!
> to me it's the perfect dad camera
that's exactly why i took it
I am an xt shooter, love fuji but I think that 50% of x100 reputation is because of tiktok and youtube videos of its reputation
Love Fuji and several cameras and kit, can’t help feeling that if Sony, Nikon or Canon were to produce their versions ( yes aware Sony tried/ failed) the must have factor of the Fuji x100 could crumble pretty quickly 😵
I got bored waiting for one of these and got an x-t5 instead. Not as compact. but having a lot of fun with it.
Honestly great choice!
I’m surprised no other company makes a small optical view finder camera.
the video footage was quite good from this camera, very surprising!
I already own the X-S20. Should I now get the X100vi or the Ricoh GR iii?
@@RumoHasIt Thank you so much. I'll just wait for the Ricoh iv
Not interested in products from companies deliberately manipulating consumers. There are many excellent alternatives out there.
I have been preordered since right after announcement and still no ETA. Been on the fence about calling the store to cancel the preorder
Canceled my back-order with B&H and applied the credit to a used Nikon Zf. Couldn't be happier with that decision.
I can’t believe I walked into my local camera store for a lens cap and by pure luck wslked out with an X 100f for $600
Sold my x100v 2 years ago to upgrade to Leica M system 😁✨
I see Brandon, and I press subscibe right away
But how does this compare to the Leica Q3?
They have it everywhere in Thailand.
a lot of unsold x100vi here in Hong Kong
It had a great run and crazy sellout.
I was getting tired of waiting… and bought the S9 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’m just going to leave it there…
I’m on a list at my local shop. I’ll enjoy my a6700 until I actually get a call. Until then I’m not gonna stress or worry about.🤷🏼
I have a X70 for street photography.
Are the telephoto adapters available for the x100v? Thanks.
As much as I like these little cameras, the hype around them these days is just stupid.
this is interesting, but I hope tiktok trends lead to many camera like this in the future not just skyrocketing the price
Did you manage to get this in Vancouver?
I didn't, it was a loaner
4:41 that cat looks Alien... anyone knows what kind is it?
He's an American curl
while the tiktokers have raised the price of this one, I’m over here loving my new x-t5
If I could just force myself to like the 35mm FoV....
I couldn’t find it and ended up buying nikon ZF it’s much better option. Recommend it.
All point and shoots are like this one.
Waited 5 mos for my Q2 and even longer for my MP
❤ just discovered your channel, appreciate your expert opinions. looking forward to more of your videos. zen billings in Niagara
Since it's so popular, why isn't Fujifilm focus on make this camera in mass production. If there are over supply of this camera, then it might not have so much success like today
The X100 series and the absence of the XPRO are the best marketing for Leica and Pixii. I canceled my preorder. This is just stupid.
fuji is artificially creating demand by limiting supply. they're trying to be leica. that thing isn't worth 1600€. and certainly not more than 2000€ in used condition. the x100f was also sold out even without tiktok and it also wasn't worth MSRP.
This isn’t true at all. It takes 3-5 years to increase production.
Waited 3 weeks for mine.
Since when
@@technicyan Bought it about a month ago. Was very lucky with the shipment.
Probably not worth the hype BUT I still love mine. 😂
I love the way it looks, but I hate that they call themselves Fujifilm while killing off film. Back in the day, we only called them Fuji. They should drop the film if they don't want to make it.
Save your money and buy a XT-5 with a XF16mmF2.8 R WR Lens.
This camera line was made popular by people who spray and pray they took a good photo cause they lack the basic skill of composition when using a real film camera.
Ridiculous hype for this camera. I had one at launch and sold it, it’s hardly any different from the V.
You cant find one anywhere so whats the point.
But that too is very hard to come by.
anyone still looking for the X100VI? my base just restocked and no one is buying it lmk!! (stateside)!!
i just wished they had a newer model for X-E4 instead of this over-hyped non removable lens camera
And it‘s not even made in Japan anymore 😢
Funny how influencers & tiktokers go crazy on this & drive up demand > supply. Fuji cult 😂 Still, waaay cheaper than a Q3!
I still shoot street with a nikon D90 and 35mm lens. No need for this hype...
Is it fun?
I ordered mine from B&H on 3/17
Continue this torture, or cancel
👍👎
No Clue what you are Talking about. The Camera is in Store everywhere here in Germany. They have so many they must even sell them. You are trying to create a hype like a cheap Newspaper would.
A very ordinary overhyped camera. Go for Q3. You Will nerver regret.
Made in China ought to be cheaper all over the world
It is getting overhyped because of TikTok
Exactly. It's ridiculous how even the older X100V is still being sold used for more than a brand new X100VI
👏 👏 👏 ❤
