      Same. I am a professional photographer. I don't bring my regular cameras anywhere unless I am getting paid because then I have to bring lenses... then I need to bring a camera bag... then I need to transfer to lightroom. Then edit. I end up just using my phone but I want much better (without all the work).

      Same! For prof work we bring out the big guns (film and photography). Basically for personal use those setups are overkill. On daily walks etc I used to switch the setups. But after getting this Fuji it re ignited my love for simplified but focused photography.

      Possibly but you can get a XA7 + 15-45 XC lens much cheaper , weighs less than the x100vi and has so many more options for different lenses, I understand people want a small camera setup, I also have an old X20 that at least comes with a tiny 18-112 lens and is much lighter and takes great pics, wish they had updated that line instead of going the fixed lens route.

    I’ve had this camera for 4 weeks now and I’m a professional videographer and photographer. Out of all the cameras I’ve ever owned and it’s a lot I can honestly say this is the most fun I’ve had with a camera it’s my favourite… not the best I’ve ever used but definitely my favourite

    I have been a photographer for more than 30 years. I have tried many brands and use other cameras for jobs. Every time I pick up the FUJI X100VI, I have a smile on my face and the joy of taking pictures. This camera takes me back to the roots of photography, where you adjusted most things manually with the help of circular controls, zoomed in with your feet and looked forward to the resulting photos. Also perfect are the FUJI film presets, which I used to shoot with many years ago and loved them. I have all this in a small box that is unobtrusive and yet uncompromising in terms of output quality. It's just a heart :-) Good light everyone!

    Thanks so much for a thoughtful and amazing video! After using it for four months, I sold my X100vi today. The price just did not match the performance for me and I found myself grabbing my Leica Q3 much more than the Fuji. I realize the Leica is also very expensive, but the amazing image quality it gives me does not make it feel overpriced (even though I had to look away from the screen when I was putting in my order :P). I loved the soft, nostalgic look of the X100vi's images, but the lagging autofocus, the slow card reader, the plasticy feel (I actually felt my old X100F had a more solid build), the lens that cannot fully resolve the 40mp, all didn't cut it for an 1800 euro camera. If I want compact I'll get a Ricoh GR3(x), if I want filmic images I'll take them with the Leica (whose raw files are much more malleable than the Fuji's in my experience) and make them as nostalgic or sharp and commercial looking as I want. Also, the X100VI's images are just not sharp compared to the Leica (or to my Sony for that matter). It's not blurred perse, but just not tack sharp. I felt it didn't fit my lineup anymore, even if it does produce pleasant images, and selling it seemed more rational than hanging on to it. The funds will be repurposed to acquire the new 85mm 1.4 GMii lens instead.

    • @NicolasInden
      @NicolasInden 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Exactly what I experienced the last weeks. The images are not sharp. Not defocussed, but just not sharp. And that drives me crazy 😂 Had a GR IIIx before and that little camera produced razor sharp images!
      Although I love the retro look and haptics of the X100VI I‘m not that satisfied with the results. For professional work I love my Lumix S5 II, it just delivers. But for my everyday carry the gear journy will go on 🙈😁

    • @jurrevandermeer4857
      @jurrevandermeer4857 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@oc2phish07 I got it because I missed my x100f (before the x100 series got so hyped). I loved that camera! I think I loved it more than the x100vi actually...I think Leica went all out on their "compact" format camera, Ricoh kept it simple, and the Fuji kind of misses the mark on both. Either make it full frame with a better lens, or go minimal and focus on the retro look. Leica makes me go WOW every single time. The x100vi was just, huh that's nice, but nothing more than that...especially using them side by side. But yes I completely agree, too many knocking it down or hyping it up without actually giving it a proper try!

    What I love is the OVF with the frame-lines to see what enters the frame. The same goes with the X-Pro cameras. One thing Fuji is far from the competition.

    It's funny to me that people use the word "hype" in reference to this camera. The current version is the 6th generation of something that's been around for 15 years. The camera has been extremely popular among photographers since before current social media platforms even existed to "hype" it. It's as good as it always has been. It's still going to be that popular even after social media moves on to something else.

    In sted of going to the bottom after pressing DRIVE push one click up and you're in videomode instantly.
    Or ... assign the little fn-button next to the shutter-button as the video start-stop function.
    The adapter is not enough for weather sealing, you also need to attach a filter.

    All great points. I like how light it is and the silent shutter, which imho, doesn't need a soft shutter at all, keeping it smaller. It's unbeatable for travel, walk around, and street. Great video Eren, I fully agree with you. I own the X-T5, got an X-T2 earlier this year in Japan.
    Soon after that I managed to get a noticeably old but still usable X100S for almost dirt cheap (compared to current Fuji prices of second hand cameras).
    Getting used to the X100S takes a lot of patience, its quite slow paced, on the S is almost a cumbersome experience at the start, and then there is getting used to the 35mm FOV lens.
    But I will say that I finally understand the joy of having such a beautiful and portable camera.
    I am still struggling to get used to using the OVF.

    Nice to hear an honest opinion after such usage. Valid points on which I agree totally… 😊
    I’m also not big fan of leaf shutter and lack of WR straight out of box, but IBIS and sharp 23mm f2 pancake are selling points in x100vi for me… yet I couldn’t put my hands on one…for that travel and street use-case I went with x-t5 and 27mm f2.8 wr and waiting for Fuji to update the old 18mm f2 to add in my compact travel kit. It is not much bigger package compared to x100vi for my usage…

    There's no getting away from the fact that the Fujifilm X100 VI is a ridiculously handsome camera. That said I have to agree with much of what you've said here, no least points raised about the lack physical feedback when pressing the shutter release button, and having the feel of shooting with a mobile phone. I think that we have reach a crossroad in camera terms, in future we will look back at the X100 VI, as the point where camera's , using the car analogy, went from manual to fully automatic, electrically... a bit like learning to drive an automatic car verses manual. I know which I would chose. I own the fujifilm XT3, I look at camera and know that I own an important piece of Fujifilm history in terms of quality, productivity and just the share fun of using it. If I was gifted the XT 100 VI, yes of course I would welcome that, but I don't think I would have the same shooting experience as I would get from an older Fujifilm camera.

    Good morning, congratulations for the review and for your TH-cam channel. I have a question for you about the Fujifilm x100VI: to switch from photo to video mode you have to act on the rear menu (LCD) by manually setting the mode, but wanting to set any button as the REC button, while in photo mode for convenience and operating speed, pressing the latter records with the same settings assigned for the video mode? I ask you this because I did this test and by pressing the button assigned to video recording on the screen the video recording starts but without any information regarding FPS and more. Thanks in advance for the reply.

    great review! definitely agree with all the points made. i feel like standalone the 100VI is a good camera but in 2024 in comparison to other Fuji cameras it just feels clunky to use with the card reader, battery, lack of buttons, inferior build quality, and weird port layout. the only significant upgrades being to the video and sensor/processor isn't enough to justify the price. if this is the direction that the X100 series is going to continue then i'd rather they start making something different. maybe even a little less compact to accommodate for modern features a modern camera should have even if it is aesthetically retro.

    I am confused about the comment you made regarding the missing d pad on the back in an effort to minimize buttons. I don't know if I'm missing it, but I don't see anything different about the back on the x100vi vs x100v?

    Thanks Eren. I own a black version of this camera and love it. Why did I buy it? Well, ever since I saw the first Fuji video of the production line for the original X100 just as the earthquake hit in 2011, I loved the design and wanted one just for the aesthetics. However, my actual photographic NEEDS lead me in a different direction so I now have an X-Pro2, X-T2, X-T3, X-T4, X-T5, X-H2 and two Nikon Zfs. But when I saw the X100VI had IBIS and a 40 Mp sensor, and since I am lucky enough to have the funds, I pre-ordered one on 28th Feb and collected it on 31st August. To me it is a beautiful, secondary, camera that I carry alongside one of my other ones; generally either the X-T5 or Zf. So far I love it and am very pleased I was able to get my hands on one. I love its discreet nature when taking street photographs and have been amazed here in London at just how many wonderful conversations have started as people ask me if it is a film camera and we get into great chats. It is possibly one of the best cameras I have ever bought.

    One thing you said is the reason why I sold my x100v. It didn't give me any haptic feedback. The shutter button squeaks like a cheap electronic toy and there is no vibration or anything. And the image quality, while good, never blew me away so in the end it didn't deliver on experience or results, only looks.

  • @DavidMBanes
    @DavidMBanes 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The lack of a shutter sound is one of the reasons I sold my Lumix S9 and went back to Fujifilm X-E4/S20, that and no viewfinder of course. For me the act of taking a photo is looking through a viewfinder (mostly) and the click. Maybe it's a generational thing and the teens don't mind.

  • @SamiPaju
    @SamiPaju 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have had X100VI since it launched, and for me the leaf shutter and its lack of noise is such a great thing - especially when taking photos of kids - as I can be stealthier. So I disagree with that aspect of the shooting experience.
    However, coming from X100F and then X-Pro3, what I really dislike about X100VI (and X-S20, which I also bought around the same time), is that when using Custom Settings (which I always do, to get the kind of jpegs I want without having to edit my photos), you either have to tell the camera to reset to those settings every time to change to them, or have the camera store all setting changes to the custom profiles. I really hate this. Because let’s say the scene requires me to change to a different metering mode, or AF setting, and then I change to another Custom Profile (let’s say I want to try B&W also), now the camera has reset metering mode and AF setting, and I have to do them again.
    I really wish you could have the custom profiles only for jpeg / IQ settings, and leave all the exposure settings and other camera controls out of them. Like it was in X-Pro3, X100F and other older Fuji cameras.

    Strange how things go. When I got this in march my x pro3 started collecting dust. Used the x100vi a lot and got about 12.000 shots by now. Then came the xh2 and now the x100vi is an expensive dust collector and I try to make sense of this. I would like to buy the new 23mm f/1.4 and maybe sell my x100vi to finance other things, perhaps even a Leica. I would be perfectly fine with just the x100vi tbh, but the xh2 got me spoiled hardcore. I understand the pricing and that the OVF is expensive, BUT the cost of the xh2 is not far away and that camera is insane. I am now mostly annoyed by the relatively slow AF of the x100vi. It is not snappy and feels slow now.

    have it, and it's a great camera, but honestly, my go-to for street photography is still the Sony A9 III. It's light enough to carry around, and the autofocus is priceless for candids. I bring out the Fuji on sunny days because, like everyone, I love playing around with the film simulations. For me, it's more of a niche, nice-to-have camera. I agree, though...it doesn't impress much beyond slower-paced shots and definitely isn’t the most versatile option."

    Definitely a camera for serious photographers. I own the XH2 and I love the handling and dials, but it is a terrible travel camera. X100VI would have been better if it offered a flippy screen, which Fuji shooters don't like.

    Thank you. Your life may be in danger from X100VI fanbois for saying these things :-) . After a few months, I sold my X100 VI for what I bought it for, so I did not price gouge. It was brand new. and I shot it for a few frames and never picked it up after that.. I had an X Pro 3, which is an amazing camera and has a real viewfinder that you can focus on in manual mode. It's a real rangefinder camera, unlike the 100 VI. I am a Fuji fan, but this camera is a point-and-shoot and just too small. I get why people love them; just not for me. I do love leaf shutters. My biggest issue was the lack of a real workable rangefinder focus in manual mode that isn't just a toy. The X Pro 3 is excellent at. manual focus. The X100 VI uses the rangefinder metaphor to make the camera look cool and retro, but you can't seriously focus the camera manually. My X Pro 3 could do all the film simulations with better-quality lenses. If I ever get in the market for a point-and-shoot again (and I probably will use my iPhone Pro Max for the same level of image quality), I may give this a second look but probably not. But so many amazing other options are out there that are superior at this price level. I am glad I made somebody who wanted one happy by selling it. Bon chance! As you say, the hype is not deserved.
