    I’ve been working on press to handstand for a while now, after watching your breakdown it’s like the lights just got switched on. Keep them coming 💪

    great breakdown, paul. i'm nowhere near press handstand level, but i can incorporate these principles at my level. i particularly liked your comment about when you're having a bad day, because there are days i regress and can't achieve my highest skill. sometimes you have to go back to an easier version before you can progress.

      Great to hear, thank you! Yes knowing what to do on the Good and the Bad days is super important.

    Hello Paul, I'm new to your chanel. I came to your video by chance. It is clearly explained and it makes sense.
    I'm 57 and try to do this hand stand for the past five years without any success. But I'm pretty sure that the step by step progression you presented will change my mind set!
    Thanks a lot for your generosity. Have a great day!

    These videos you putting out are very useful and well made. I've been learning HS since about november still at the wall but slowly increasing free standing time. Let me ask. I've been consistently going to gym for 2 years but with HS it seem after like 2 reps of 30 sec balances I need a longer break to regain strenght to be able to try to balance it without wall. Any specific exercises to increase shoulder strenght? I've been doing all the regular gym exercises (flys, rope climb, shoulder press etc.).
    Thanks again!

    Hey paul i came here from the tuck jump to handstand video and i have a question that i cant touch my toes while standing at only the age of 13 and ive trying to learn the tuck jump, i can stack my hips up the shoulders but i cant just seem to straighten my legs any tips on that and should i focus on strength more or flexibility?❤

    I'm interested to know if it's always possible to progress further and further. Are there limitations to someone's strength for example that they may never be able to achieve the next progression? Is strength gain really limitless?

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Weighted linear strength, so a deadlift, squat, bench press etc you’re more likely to hit a cap. With calisthenics it’s more about the skill plus strength plus flexibility then add the bodyweight element. You can improve one of those or multiple so the potential to keep progressing is always there 🙃

    Thank you for this. I have been wanting to do press to handstand since long. What I have till now is face forward hand stand against the wall. I come down within 5-7 seconds. Have not been able to progress much beyond that so far.. I hope this will help me move beyond and get there where I need to..

    Great description of the multiple plans involved. I am "confidentiality" training for both press and HS pushups at the same time. I think both will help increase my balance in free HS, hopefully I won't do too much more advanced progressions like these while neglecting my kickups and other balance work. I don't particularly like practicying kicking up as I see it as a very imprecise instrument.

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes training those moves will definitely improve your balance window and give you lots more options. Let me know if you have any videos requests

    How often should i train my handstand balance and strength

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      3-6 x per week for balance and 2-4 per week for strength is a good place to aim for

    Wow. Today was an especially good one. I absolutely LOVE this breakdown. I'm usually too weak to follow your tips since I can't even hold a wall handstand for a whole minute yet, but this gave me some ideas on more ways to work on things since I do have the flexibility already. More ways to build up my strength and balance!!!! Thank you!
