Thank you for a well detailed video. I got two questions for you:
1- Do I need to buy the gasket or does it come with the new oil cooler?
2- I see you listed the retaining clip, but your link shows the cooler line connector. Is the connector needed or just the clip.
I am planning on tackling this job next week and wanted to make sur I order the needed parts.
Also, you might need to update your links to the retaining clip and pick set.

Hey is it worth it because local mechanic shop charges about 400$ for part and labor .
That's actually a very price, it is way higher at the dealer

Great video, thanks for posting! One tip in case it helps anyone else: I really struggled to get my ratchet in after lowering the differential, so I tried coming from the front of the engine instead of directly underneath and found it much easier to get the nut off the retaining bracket that way. I didn't need a swivel socket going that route either, just a deep dish 10mm and a short extension (may not be needed, just made it a little easier). FWIW it's still worth lowering the diff to get a little extra space to finish the job.
GM sure could use to learn a lesson from Mercedes about oil filter and oil cooler placement. This is 5 bolts, a gasket, and 10 minutes on a Mercedes, top front of the engine bay too (right next to the oil filter). Sheeeesh what a terrible design from GM. I also love that they made one foot of each of these lines rubber for absolutely no reason other than to ensure that they will leak at the terrible crimp joints so you can pay to replace them. There's no other conceivable reason for such a terrible design, it's just engineered to break. 🤮

I'm about to have to do this on my 2020 denali. Dealer replaced them under warranty 1st time. This time it's on me at 105k miles. On interstate lost all oil in a matter of seconds. Pulled straight over. Hope engine isn't effed.

Do you have a recommendation of how much oil to add after the job?
A little less than half a quart
So when you drop the differential is the truck sitting on the ground? not jacked up or on a lift? And do you need a jack to get the diff back up?
It doesn't make on the lift or ground when I take out the two 18mm bolt the diff dropped a little bit for clearance of the 10mm nut that attach the cooler to the block it won't drop any further down than that it is still held by the drive shift the 2 cv axle and the passenger side bolts ,
Do You put it back up by hand or a jack under it?
I’ve got the oil block unbolted but just don’t have the clearance to get the lines out. Thank you.

Not necessary at all

You can try but not worth it, the diff will be held by the frame, once you remove the 2 bolts

My truck has these issues. Clearly was a manufacturing issue but Chevy only released a recall for a certain number of trucks within a certain VIN #. So now everyone is stuck paying over 1k out their own pockets because Chevy doesn’t want to acknowledge this issue. Absolutely terrible and disgusting a company making billions of dollars a year can’t do what’s right and cover these costs when they already know it’s a known issue. This guy even clearly states he’s fixed A LOT of them.

No it shouldn't, since the cooler is built in the radiator if it is leaking i can see it other than that no

@@steevegmtech7326 i found my leak this morning its coming from the oil cooler on the front of the radiator i have the 2nd gen rad for that year with the max tow package but trying to find that cooler is impossible
