Yes seeds! I’ve been growing from seed for a long time. Keep trying. Seeds want to grow. It’s been a few years that I can not use chemicals dyes and fragrance. I grow and harvest my organic herbs to infuse oils. You might think about getting a wood chipper it will pay for its self. Don’t get a cheap one you need it to be a good size to manage your property for years to come. It’s so beautiful. Makes me miss Washington 💚 loving the content. One more garden tip: go to the garden almanac put in your zip code and it will tell you exactly when to start from seed, how to start and when to transplant or start seeds in in your garden. Best reference for seed growing and it’s free😇
I get my tallow from Soapers Choice. I think it's around $35 for 30lbs . I do love it in soap and lotion. I love your new place and....your life. 🥰 Thank you so much for your videos.
My favorite go to tallow makers for reference are Delizia Naturally, am Australian tallow based product and soapmaker , and also Ansa Smitt of Saponify from South Africa. Because you added honey to that balm, you actually should also add a preservative! Honey is only self preserving as a stand alone product, but when added to other ingredients it will now grow all kinds of things. Honey contains water naturally. It is the enzymes in honey that make it self preserving on it's own, but due to it's water content when added to other ingredients the it will grow bacteria and mold. Sorry, but it's best to know these things before selling!
Anxious to hear feedback from Patreons and this new soap …..a Seed Haul would be fun….love love love hellebores oh my what a show the filtered sunlight makes it all so spectacular …..NATURAL and HOMEMADE says it all….
Although it's so beautiful and green up there. I couldn't live there bc of the dreary weather. I could handle it a few days only. The sun affects my mood. I enjoy being mostly outside. I get cabin fever after awhile. Hello from sunny southern California ❤❤
Erica, I try and keep my soaps as natural as possible, when using essential oils, (which cost a lot more) do you use the same amounts as you would a fragrance oil. I’m struggling with this, as they cost sooo much more and it’s seems counterintuitive as they are also a lot more volatile, or contain high levels of volatile compounds
Did you leave this unscented with just the scent of the herbs? Also did you put arrowroot powder. Nice video! I need to make some of this. I just purchased tallow from The Fat Lady and really do love it. I have zero desire to render my own tallow. 😊
I would say, stick with chickens for awhile until you get very comfortable with. Feed them meat, worms & scraps of veggies. Cracked corn is also good for them. The eggs may come out a dark yellow to orange yolk. If you have roosters make sure to cut the spurs. If you want some flavor in the eggs you can add cayenne pepper.
I’ve worked regular 9-5 jobs along with my husband to purchase our first homes years ago. Through the equity gained and over-paying our mortgage through money earned by my soap making and many other income streams, we’ve been able to continue buying houses and were able to purchase this one (which will be our home for awhile, I hope!) .
Lovely video Jerika. I think you could even cut your bars in half for facial use. I find everything in the U.S is super sized compared to here. I just made an extra cleansing bar for an oily son and a very greasy husband. I used a simple recipe 40% tallow, 40% coconut and 20% RBO. Mine set up and unmolded in individual molds in 3 hrs. It has a salt brine to add extra hardness. It's always exciting trying something totally different. Then comes the wait to try them out 😊

Thank you, Jerika !! Great video love your beautiful garden! Your soaps are lovely !
I love making lard soaps. I get my lard locally from my supermarket. I will be making my first tallownsoap this weekend, maybe I combine both.
I switched to mostly herbal based soaps last year!!
They will be the most BEAUTIFUL soap to use 👌❤
Happy New Year Jerika!!
In my experience beef tallow always accelerate my butter and lard does the opposite. Love your garden
That's interesting! I'll have to keep that in mind.
Have you ever considered making fresh wreaths with the beautiful pine? I can smell it now.

Is your tallow grass fed?

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to start small and see how it goes.
Wow! You bought that house all by yourself with your soap business money? I bet your husband appreciated that!

Do you have soap which doesn't have animal fats in it for vegan & vegetarian customers? 🙂
I have a few soaps with no animal fats that are vegan on my website now 😊
