This is an old fashioned thing from the older generations that should have never been repeated. This is most likely something Ruby experienced in her home growing up! But they are not going to say this.
She’s always been that way. She’s always been confident and well spoken even at 12 and 14. She doesn’t act any different in this interview than she did on the TH-cam channel
The same can be said for the consumers who watch family vlogs. It’s unethical and potentially supports child exploitation and abuse. By tuning in, viewers contribute to the demand for such content.
@@AaronNickolas7 What about the consent of underage family members? Kids often don’t understand the long-term consequences of having their lives broadcast online-once it’s out there, it’s out there forever.
Correct. I was just saying this last night to my family. Anyone who is willing to exploit their children’s vulnerability and privacy for money is not a good person.
According to Kevin's second police interview, Ruby and Jodi were sleeping in the same bed with eachother and he wasn't allowed to go upstairs in his own house without permission. Ruby and Jodi were absolutely having a romantic relationship.
Probably a weak willed man. Outnumbered by these 2 women who appear to have all the correct answers and the handle on discipline, as the culture is dunking on the "white male patriarchy". No matter your views on such things, this has an impact on a man's analysis of the situation. It's easy to feel like you're the one who's wrong, and you're on the wrong side of history. This is how I felt in the 2000's when they were trying to give my sons ADHD meds...outnumbered by bureaucrats.
because the social services are geared against men in case you really dont know. also they did nothing about the eldest daughters reports and pleas for help ... open yer eyes mt
You don't have to be an influencer; we treat neighbors with the same blind faith. My grandmother made my mother's life a living hell, and to this day, my mom has to hear from neighbors and acquaintances how great a mom she had, how much she helped her. All their knowledge is based on the fact that my grandmother smiled at them, was talkative and friendly, and told the world her version of the story.
My grandfather was the same, he would help neighbours mow the grass and was consider a stand up man by the community. However he would beat the whole family behind closed doors and demand to be treated like a king, or more accurately dictator. You know the stereotype of if the dinner was slightly cold then the wife gets beaten? That was what would happen, even if he was late home so it was his fault. I have never met my aunt because she ran away after being beaten so badly with a fire poker that she could not manage to go to school and pretend everything was fine. My grandfather was very angry at this so he beat her again and she feared he would kill her, so she flead, thankfully with the help of a friend and their family, she was 15. My grandmother never learned to drive because my grandfather would not allow it, even when they moved out of the city center. He wanted to drive her everywhere or they walked, for miles and miles. People used to say my grandfather was such a gentleman and wow he doesn't even make her fill the car or other duties but rather does it himself, yes because he wouldn't let her due to being incredibly controlling! My father doesn't talk much about the abuse he suffered in childhood but I am certain it contributed to the mental health and personal issues he struggles with to this day. People thinking he has an amazing childhood with the perfect father, and how could he not be perfect in those circumstances, certainly was a burden and caused extra stress. Out of all of the brothers my father has been able to be the healthiest I think and certainly the least sexist towards women but they are all suffering emotionally and I can't help but wonder how much better they would have turned out if they got rescued and held when they were being abused as children.
I am surprised that the father is now saying that he is proud of her. At first, he wanted to press charges against her for taking items from the house, such as laptops, phones, cameras, and so on. He wanted to PRESS CHARGE on his own daughter after discovering what the two younger children were experiencing.
Those that watched the vlogs know that Kevin has never been innocent. He was the head of the house and Ruby was always trying to please him. It was never him trying to please her when Shari was young. He was on board with everything.
I remember seeing one video where he was being awful to his son at the kitchen table just for having his phone out. He mocked him by reading aloud the text messages to everyone. Yeah, for a lot of households that run like this, the men are the head honcho. Ruby Franke was probably the main disciplinarian for the kids because they believe the mom is the main one to handle the kids. But Kevin Franke was an enabler that could have put a stop to this at anytime. And he participated in hurting his kids at least mentally and emotionally before.
He just pivoted his views to align with whichever way the wind was blowing. It's favourable to him, and just like any narcissist, when it stops benefitting him, he'll pivot yet again.
The way the 911 caller’s voice breaks down when describing the boy’s condition tells a lot about the torture Ruby and Jodi were quite comfortable committing.
Hearing her call her Ruby is bone chilling. I've been watching their family since I was a child because I found their family so completely different from mine, it felt like watching a sci-fi movie. This whole case has been an eye opener to me since I feel like I never detected anything more than a really strict mother. I'm so proud of Shari and I really hope the rest of the family is healing.
It was not immediately apparent, but there were big signs. She was unreasonably strict at best, long before Judi entered the picture. Her kids were not allowed to have privacy, taking away door from one kid’s room, taking away her sons bed for literally months, refusing to bring her 5 years old lunch to kindergarten. Threatening her 5 yo daughter to cut off the head of her toy. Sent her son to fricking “camp” for “problematic” kids. And those things were vlogged, what else she did we don’t know about? She gave her kids punishments for minor things. Insisting it was “her house, her money”, that the kids didn’t own anything (terrible parenting btw), while she was making
I think the family/those impacted can speak at her parole hearing too and say what they think about her being paroled. I wonder if any family will attend/have a stance. We know her parents think she should be let out.
@@SFBL1 that's just not how the law works in Utah. They initially had 6 counts of child abuse, and when they pled down 2 counts were dropped. This just means that they'll serve 4-30 years instead of 6-30 years. But, since they'll almost certainly serve more than 4 years, it's sort of a moot point.
I’m so inspired how strong this young woman is to speak out and take charge of her story. Good for you Shari! You chose not to be a victim and chose to be an advocate and a voice for those who do not have a voice. Bravo 👏 Shari, you deserve all the happiness this world can give you and then some. You will be an amazing Mother ❤
Started the audiobook this morning. I can’t stop listening! Her words and the way she speaks is incredible. Proud of her for speaking up and finally getting a chance to speak out.
The most astonishing thing to me is that internet communities were ringing alarm bells far before any action was actually taken against her. People want to think this is an uncommon thing. It's not.
Despite how horrible her mom is, she is really well adjusted, with such a strong grasp of seeing her mom the way she really is. Proud of her to write a book. I hope and wish her a future of great joy and health.
Exactly! She's very strong and smart, and is confident in herself. I've also been subjected to verbal and emotional abuse by my parents and relatives growing up, and it's left me quite unsure of myself.
@timidsore7933 thank you for your vulnerable, honest, important reply. I am so sorry to hear about the pain awful adults put you through, during childhood, when we are most vulnerable. I am 41! And growing up with my parents... while maybe I am making an excuse that they weren't the "worst" (mom is narcissistic) left me and my two younger sisters all a little weird and with issues that we all struggled to this day to get through. my middle sister and I have mental problems. Mine have been severe the past 26 years. My sense of reality is WARPED. It messes with your sense of self, security. There are lots of disturbed, unhinged people out there: people who have debilitating hatred they spew almost indiscriminately towards others, but sometimes shows up in gender/race wars. Or those "karens"? I step back and think, wow. Maybe they weren’t shown the grace, patience and unconditional love that we all desperately need, but more so during childhood. I respect Shari so much and hope to be similar to her. I pray we all can get the healing we need and can live lives of love, and peace. Wishing you healing and the best health and life❤
Everyone can put on a mask when facing the public. This type of trauma is something that will take years of therapy and avoidance from her abusers to resolve. Luckily her mom is probably going to be spending decades in prison but her dad is still free and I'm sure she wants to be away from him as well considering he was no better.
The dad was also a main abuser who participated in the vlogging aspect. It’s so sick that he’s getting off scott free just because the police caught it all after he moved from the house
Since Utah is a mormon state, they're happy to dump it all on mom and dad is out working all day, so "he didn't seen anything". They're the same kind of people who think Mr. Duggar is a good dad when he's actually a psycho.
I don't think that's what happened. He didn't go to jail or prison because he cooperated and needed to be available to the kids. The other two lawyered up immediately and refused to help the children move on.
@ The other two lawyered up because they were immediately arrested on their own premises. Charges were never brought forward to him, and he wasn’t arrested
I think a lot of ppl like to watch the demise of others. I don't think they actually believed what they saw (kinda like reality tv) or practiced it and just liked the drama and the unbelievable things she said and did.
@@breezeh1127 I watched 8 passengers almost daily for several years at their peak and I have to say that this wasn't the case. The appeal came from them being a massive family living either a very different or similar life to you, seemingly doing all these cool things. At this time, and at our age (I was between 10 and 13), I was unable to recognise the red flags. However, I did become gradually more suspicious overtime (as I know others did), especially between 2018-2019, Ruby became stricter in a way that was now obvious on camera. I agree with the original commentor, it is indeed worrying that Ruby was so popular.
@idontknowwhatmyusershouldb3512any family that is on social media, or tv, and appears normal should raise red flags. That's been proven EVERY time....
I live in Utah, and have also had to reach out to CPS, as well as several of my neighbors about a particular family. They don’t do ANYTHING. They just visit quickly, see that the kids have a house and food in the kitchen, then leave. They moved into our neighborhood to get away from their previous neighbors who called on them all the time, then they ended up moving to Vegas because so many people here called on them for the same reasons, with nothing ever being fixed. Generally when that many people are calling on the same family, there’s something very wrong. I was later told that if we see something suspicious, skip CPS and just call the cops because it’s the only way something will be done.
Call both the police and CPS and keep calling!! Innocent children depend on us to speak up and keep speaking up. It’s probably much worse than what we are seeing. Remember the Turpin children!!
The best and most effective option is to complain to a medical professional. They are mandatory reporters and their reports get handled quickly and effectively.
@@arilehman9723 How would you do that? I mean, I'm assuming that the medical professional would need to be connected to the family in some way (like, it's their patient or some dependent of their patient). I don't know much, but would saying "Sarah B who lived on my block is getting abused. Please help her." do much if you're saying it to your own doctor who has no other relevant info for the child? Or is it just for reporting/recording purposes?
I love the fact that she does not say “mom” she says Ruby.. I cannot wait to read her book, we all think everything is sunshine and roses on those social media channels but behind closed doors there are demons.
It’s crazy because when I was little I used to watch them on a daily basis. Seeing all of this stuff happening I feel terrible for the kids but I’m happy that the mother’s abuse is being brought to light.
Agree! It seems like Jodi hates men and is attracted to women, and this is why she destroyed so many marriages that came to her for counseling. If she wasn’t interested in Ruby, then why kick the husband out?
Sending Shari so so much love and support I am so so sorry for everything all of these poor children have been through and are going through sending love xxxxx
It was fine when I was growing up in the 90s and before then even so I head to take away dinner. People are addicted to food these days. One meal won't kill you here and there
Im so happy for Sherri! I watch a TH-camr that calls out these family vloggers! No child should be exploited for the parents gain in wealth and celebrity status! Theres tons more like the children of the Franke family out there and it needs to be called out by news media!
Me too I struggle with the concept daily and have been for over 10yrs, I struggle with is letting go of the past having minimum contact with my mum. but I'll always be having contact for her sake not mine. I have unconditional love but it contact would send me down a downward spiral plus we have nothing to say to each other like strangers not mother and daughter so different. I've grown so much without my mum and thrived but the overarching guilt and grief never goes away
Hearing that man’s 911 call is so heartbreaking. ‘To my babies, my six little chicks, you are part of me’…….you mean the ones you abused and denied food….she needs to be in prison for a very long time, 4 years is not near enough!
There is some mental illness involved with this women, rubie to think she was being a good mother and then get sucked up into this relationship with the therapist. Nd obvious the father is at fault big time. As well It's a sad world
The thing that’s important to know is that this type of child abuse isn’t a rare occurrence. Like unfortunately this crap is happening all over the US and nothing is being done about it. Cops didn’t believe me as a kid when I asked for help to get away from my abusive family. It’s a problem. Glad this girl got away and realizes how much better she deserves.
when shary said i look like her and sound like her. i felt that . nothing worse than looking into the mirror and spotting the person you dislike. its uncomfortable as hell.
I used to watch their channel as a young kid. So heartbreaking to know that this is what was happening the entire time. Shari is such a role model and such a strong, young woman. Shari, if ur reading this, I want you to know that EVERYONE is proud of you. Live your life to the fullest. You deserve it❤
Sometimes people “forgive” only to give themselves peace of mind so they’re not harboring anger, which can be damaging to your own mental health. Not necessary because you’re actually redeeming them of their actions.
Heard about this case. This is truly one of the saddest stories I ever came across while scrolling online during my college for a few years, the oldest daughter calling the woman who used to be her mother by her own name gives so many chills. Hopefully the oldest daughter and the rest of the children are doing much better and continue to live together freely from this nightmare.
I had no idea Shari wrote a book. I literally paused this video at 3:06, went and purchased it, and came back. It’ll be delivered tomorrow morning between 4-8AM
Child abuse is apparently rampant in Utah, and at the same time underreported, because the LDS church advises abuse victims to call a church hotline instead of the police if something happened to them. This usually ends in the abuser getting away with it (meaning that he/she might be disciplined by the church, but is not getting arrested) and the vicitim not getting much (if any) help or even being blamed for what happened to them, because they wore immodest clothing or something. It's really sad. So glad these kids got the help and justice they deserved.
I am not sure how accurate this is currently, especially regarding children being blamed. Historically, for sure. US culture in general has been quick to victim-blame, glad we are starting to move away from that but we have a long way to go.
There is not a church hotline. I grew up in Utah. I do believe there have been local church leaders who didn’t report abuse for whatever reason, which is sickening, but the overall church leadership definitely counsels leaders and members to contact the police. I honestly don’t think child abuse is more common in Utah than any other state, but I haven’t looked it up. Ruby Franke was absolutely not following church guidelines at all
iirc Utah recently changed reporting laws so leaders in the Mormon church aren't legally mandated to report child abuse. And that about 90% of Utah legislature is Mormon. That's horrifying. I wish more people recognized Mormonism as the cult they are.
My mother was an abusive alcoholic and died at age 54. Now I am aging and when I look in the mirror I see HER and I hate it. I understand how she feels. The 'mother' that birthed me was a destructive narcissist that destroyed the lives of all her children because in the sixties and seventies there was NO one to intervene. May those children be healed and have all they lost restored to them. And like that family, my father knew and did nothing. He was abusive to my brother. You never forget how you grew up.
We live in Utah. My kids went to school with Ruby, a sister and brother. They say their family was strange. The abuse started at least 2 generations before Ruby started her abuse. It gets a little weirder, my husband installed 2 closet organizers in their home. She did a bit of filming and Ruby fed him Subway for lunch.
No wonder Ruby’s parents want her to be released. If this cycle of abuse goes back multiple generations, they probably don’t see anything wrong with how she treated the children. I’m proud of Shari for speaking out and hope her siblings are doing better these days.
@@rachelfay9582I was aware of Ruby's parents first, as I was watching their channel first. They seemed like the nicest people. I was shocked when I made the connection between the 2!😮

I’m glad shari is speaking out. She’s doing so while respecting her other siblings, but also telling her story. People were awful to Shari. They called her Ruby 2.0 etc. and said she was Ruby’s “minion”, a goody two shoes, etc. And yet she’s nothing like her mother.
It's the two next oldest girls that I was concerned about being the "minions". Every time Ruby was coming down on someone, they were in the background, egging it on. And when the police visited Pam's house, they seemed unwilling to cooperate. I wonder how they are doing, now that Ruby isn't in the home.
I always wanted to be blessed with a daughter, and raising my two sons were the best years of my life. I’ll NEVER understand parents who treat their children like this‼️
@@PHlophe so nice to read a sweet comment❣️ Thank you for doing that; our world has become so wicked & hateful, that a simple kind gesture is appreciated. I’ll have 10 kids in my next life, lol. I just love kids and the awesome responsibility of devoting oneself to doing the best job you can, to guide them onto a happy, productive life. Yes, I’m even still close with my one former daughter in law, I love her dearly. But, the other one has an issue, in that she’s a bit threatened by the close bond with my eldest son, so she can act a bit weird. I spanked my sons, once. Because, they got ahold of a large butcher knife from the kitchen and proceeded to slice up the back of a chair. Then, in I walked, and it scared the bejesus outta me, so they got 2-3 swats on the bottom. They do not physically discipline my four Gbabies. Why? He wasn’t involved in the abuse ruby was charged and convicted of. He had been banished from the family. He is guilty of some stuff but it’s wild to me how so many people would defend a mother who was a victim of abuse but have no compassion for a father.

What a strong young lady… she has much to be proud of for being on such a positive, determined path to success and hopefully overcoming the damage her awful mother inflicted upon her mentally and physically. I love how she refers to her mother now as “Ruby.” Some “people” don’t deserve to be parents, but clearly this young lady is fulfilling a very important purpose. 🙏🏻 that she will reunite with her siblings, too.
I respect her advocacy and agree that minors should not be on social media. I see digital natives using their offspring for content and it makes me uncomfortable. Babies are defenseless.
Imagine you're going to see this woman again in 4 years. And it's crazy to think that this is only the beginning of kids from family vlogging speaking out. She's setting a great example.
Shari - I look forward to reading your memoir as writing what happens in your life, the trauma, the confusion all of it - can be so healing. You inspire me ✨
Shari has always had a strong head and heart, I pray she continues to heal and also her siblings come to understand as they grow older that all she wanted to do was to protect them. As someone who was an avid viewer and have met them a few times, I didn't see it until I got older and the kids lived it! ❤ proud of you Shari.
I noticed that she says “Ruby” and not “my mom” like that hit hard! I don’t blame her Ruby never deserved the title of mom, momma, mommy, or mother. She is honestly terrible 😢
I heard it was 4 to 30 and depends on the parole something something. I doubt anyone would let those monsters out after just 4 years, especially with how public this whole story is.
Shari’s aunts and grandparents still blog and make money off their kids and grandkids. Pathetic! Good for Shari in trying to change the narrative of her family norm.
Yes and those aunts run a tight ship with their kids too. Especially Bonnie. You can sense the fear in those kids at time when they are doing family stuff. Even when opening presents at Christmas. They would look at Bonnie and ask if they could open their present?
Shari really surprised me here & in a very good way! She has grown into an incredibly strong young woman, who exudes confidence within a relatively short period period of time. Shari could have so easily chosen to be a victim of her parents abuse. Kevin Franke doesn't deserve a pass! He may not have taken part in any of the physical abuse inflicted on their 6 children, but he 100% played a big part in exploiting them for a big monthly check from TH-cam. He's also complicit in the emotional abuse his children endured. He & his attorney have disgustingly & disappointingly been successful in getting Kevin a pass from having to take any meaningful responsibility for the events that led up to the literal torture of his 2 youngest children, at the hands of his wife, business partner & supposed "family therapist". His having moved out of the family home for several months & being ordered to refrain from any contact, whatsoever from HIS & Ruby's children, are NOT valid excuses. As a father of 6 kids, that didn't ask to be born in the first place, let alone to a lunatic like Ruby & a spineless coward like Kevin, he had a responsibility to ensure his kids were happy, healthy & safe until they reached the age of 18 & he failed, miserably. Kevin's 1 & only priority was being allowed to move back into his home & reunite w/Ruby & that meant turning a blind eye to what he knew was not a healthy, stable environment for his kids. Kevin ADMITTED during 1 of his interviews with detectives that Jodi was becoming more & more unhinged & that she was having a negative influence on his family after she moved in AND before he was asked to move out. There's no excuse anyone can make for this pitiful excuse for a father to justify his neglect of the children. Had his 12 yr old not found the courage to escape, there is a huge chance that either he or his younger sister would've wound up dead. Ruby's diaries were bone chilling. The torture she documented, DAILY grew more & more extreme with each passing diary entry. I hope he doesn't have custody of ANY of the 4 children, especially the youngest 2.
Loose a privilege to eat dinner? Horrible , never withhold food from a child. This story is awful for all these children. I'm glad the little boy was able to get help from the neighbors 🙌.
I'm 23 about a 1/2 younger than Shari and was watching 8 Passengers live when they were coming out in 2015/16. As victim of child abuse myself, I knew that what I was seeing the kids go through was not normal. Especially with Russell, who Ruby would claim had "horrible anxiety" and would say his DEEP under-eye bags were normal. Like no, he is (was) 7. Just a baby. And sending Chad away to wilderness therapy with an organization that has had multiple cases against it.
So many more questions than answers. Wonder why the dad allowed so much harm to come to his children? Men, dads should be protectors not passive door mats. And how could a mom destroy her children? So happy for this young woman
I appreciate that her daughter is taking the time to tell her story. Maybe this interview will help save other children who are trapped in nasty families.
The father was banished from the home and wasn’t involved in the abuse ruby was charged with. Why should he be charged for something he wasn’t involved in?
That’s sad, isn’t it? The cruel things Shari describes Ruby saying to her back this up. I don’t think Ruby has the capacity to be sorry for her actions - her court apologies are self-servin. The things this woman said to her daughter were cold-blooded. I got a lump in my throat just hearing it, that a child was spoken to in such as cunning, emotionally manipulative and hurtful way - Ruby undersigned her words to injure her daughter.
Well sorry is not going to really do anything she mentally and physically traumatized her kids and they have to live and remember that for there entire life’s that my mom did this to me and they are still young kids who are traumatized at 11 and 13 so they have every right not to call her mom or not forgive her for what she did
The fact that she put a show on for millions of people acting like she was a great mother just vlogging her lifestyle with 8 kids little did we know she was torturing her kids and not feeding them and tieing them sad world we live in
The fact that Shari unfollowed the whole family on social media also says a lot. Everybody in the family knew what was happening and nobody lifted a finger for those kids. Shari fought alone. Her dad is a mistake of the universe. Never should've become a father. Can't understand why that man wasn't charged with neglect of his minor children. I absolutely love seeing Shari thrive. I will definitely buy her book.
I don’t know that unfollowing the family had anything to do with that because she is only following 16 people and most aren’t personal pages except Chad. Her family still follows her. I think Shari is simply taking back her life on her terms.
@amielawson8344 she unfollowed all of them a while after her mother was arrested. Why do you think that happened? Read somewhere her aunts didn't like her speaking against child exploitation online, being child exploiters themselves. Shari is trying to terminate their source of income and they don't like it. They want to milk those children to the max until they become adults. I'm guessing they follow her to know what she up to. Shari cut ties with them and she was the one fighting for her siblings, alone.
That very first statement she made about not wanting to be like her and having to look like her....boy...i can related. My grandfather S abused me and I feel this way all the time about having to look like that side of the family. It gives me the chills to think of it.
Our own parents really teaches up HOW NOT TO BE. Glad they escaped and got a hold of 911, also thank you to those angel neighbors for saving those innocent children.
When Shari says Ruby and not mom it breaks my heart that she will not have never have a mother. I love how she is private and Chad is more public. Since when is eating dinner a “privilege” a nintendo is a privilege, a tv is a privilege, a phone is a privilege…its a BASIC PARENTAL REQUIREMENT TO FEED YOUR CHILDREN 🤬
A bed was a privilege to Ruby, she took away her child's bed and made him sleep on a beanbag chair
Agree … basic needs must be met
Children have certain inalienable rights. Dinner being one of them.
@@Thebeanshow-j4q she wanted them out of her house once they turned 18! No ifs ands or butts about it! I truly feel like she never wanted kids but “had to” have them as s Mormon. I also don’t believe any of her statement she made when she plead guilty was honest.
This is an old fashioned thing from the older generations that should have never been repeated. This is most likely something Ruby experienced in her home growing up! But they are not going to say this.
What an incredibly well-spoken, articulate, and insightful young woman. Making lemons out of lemonade - inspiring.
When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade 🍋
She’s always been that way. She’s always been confident and well spoken even at 12 and 14. She doesn’t act any different in this interview than she did on the TH-cam channel
“There is no such thing as a moral or ethical family vlogger” 👏👏👏
I wish Ruby’s sister Bonnie would understand this.
The same can be said for the consumers who watch family vlogs. It’s unethical and potentially supports child exploitation and abuse. By tuning in, viewers contribute to the demand for such content.
YES there is! You just want there to be. There a lot of family vlogger who have inspired me. I want to vlog!
And he was a complete and total wimp
really, I thought ruby was straight since she said she was attracted to her own brother as well
Totally got that vibe!!
I think Jodi is a lesbian and suppresses that but ruby is just a narcissist who loved the attention and feeling special
Why didn't Kevin do anything to protect his children. Ruby had been abusive for years before Jodi.
Exactly I don't believe for a minute he's innocent
Even the before Jody years were Jody tho. For exampke, Jody was Chad's therapist before they made connections together
*Because of how controlling and manipulative you women are.*
He didn't believe it at the time. He thought Sheri was lying
Kevin is also not innocent
I'm so proud of Shari and I really hope the rest of the family is healing.
you are me!! i thought the same!
It's really hard for people with good parents to understand it, I have great parents who love me, imagining having parents who don't is so alien to me
It was not immediately apparent, but there were big signs.
Same here
Yes, a clear statement 'we are detached'.
I’m so happy that she is doing well. I hope that her siblings are doing well too. I cried watching their story. Sending my best wishes to them.
How they could only have to serve four years is just beyond unjust for those poor kids and what they endured
4-30. We don’t know yet. It’s up to the parole board. I doubt they’ll let her out after 4.
I think the family/those impacted can speak at her parole hearing too and say what they think about her being paroled. I wonder if any family will attend/have a stance. We know her parents think she should be let out.
I'd be shocked if either of them serve less than 10 years, there's just too much public outrage about the case.
Honestly, it should have been 10-15, but I'm assuming they pled down, so what can you do?
@@SFBL1 that's just not how the law works in Utah. They initially had 6 counts of child abuse, and when they pled down 2 counts were dropped. This just means that they'll serve 4-30 years instead of 6-30 years. But, since they'll almost certainly serve more than 4 years, it's sort of a moot point.
I’m so inspired how strong this young woman is to speak out and take charge of her story.
Good for you Shari! You chose not to be a victim and chose to be an advocate and a voice for those who do not have a voice. Bravo 👏
Shari, you deserve all the happiness this world can give you and then some. You will be an amazing Mother ❤

The most astonishing thing to me is that internet communities were ringing alarm bells far before any action was actually taken against her. People want to think this is an uncommon thing. It's not.
She too was sounding the alarm for so long
People were reporting her to CPS for years, but Utah government couldn't care less about child welfare

Part of it was getting out when she did. Same can't be said for the others. There's no telling how much therapy they'll be going thru.
Everyone can put on a mask when facing the public. This type of trauma is something that will take years of therapy and avoidance from her abusers to resolve. Luckily her mom is probably going to be spending decades in prison but her dad is still free and I'm sure she wants to be away from him as well considering he was no better.
Ruby isn’t sorry for what she did she’s sorry she got caught ‼️
The dad was also a main abuser who participated in the vlogging aspect. It’s so sick that he’s getting off scott free just because the police caught it all after he moved from the house
This is Utah. They value the father more than a woman and believe whatever he says.
Abusive dads usually do. It's always abusive moms the courts make an example out of.
A daughter referring to her mom by first name...🚩🚩🚩🚩 Good for Shari for speaking out!
I refer to my mom by her first name and it means nothing
The fact that Ruby was so popular has me worried for so many kids out there.
I think a lot of ppl like to watch the demise of others. I don't think they actually believed what they saw (kinda like reality tv) or practiced it and just liked the drama and the unbelievable things she said and did.
@@breezeh1127Yes she did! She had millions of people who egged her on and worshipped her every word. Why do you think she and Jodi had a platform.
Probably a lot of moms like this and don’t realize it
@idontknowwhatmyusershouldb3512any family that is on social media, or tv, and appears normal should raise red flags. That's been proven EVERY time....
I wish her and her siblings loads of healing and positive energy from now and on. And that their parents never find a way back into their lives.
I used to work for CPS in NJ. What are the allegations??
@@arilehman9723source?
@@arilehman9723 How would you do that? I don't know much, but would saying "Sarah B who lived on my block is getting abused. Please help her." do much if you're saying it to your own doctor who has no other relevant info for the child? Or is it just for reporting/recording purposes?
You need a license to have a dog and you do this to your children?? They should rot in jail.

You go girl! You’ve got this! Thank you for sharing your story! It could not have been easy!

They love asking victims "Do you forgive him/her?".
We’re being programmed to “accept abuse” by realizing we can “forgive for yourself to heal”
You can forgive someone for hurting you and still not want them in your life.
Sometimes people “forgive” only to give themselves peace of mind so they’re not harboring anger, which can be damaging to your own mental health. Not necessary because you’re actually redeeming them of their actions.

4:50 what an amazing way to understand forgiveness, truly like such a perspective change
There is NO church that is helpful to abuse victims. Especially women.
What you’re saying about the church and Utah isn’t true.
Subway is pretty horrifying
No wonder Ruby’s parents want her to be released. If this cycle of abuse goes back multiple generations, they probably don’t see anything wrong with how she treated the children. I’m proud of Shari for speaking out and hope her siblings are doing better these days.

It's the two next oldest girls that I was concerned about being the "minions". Every time Ruby was coming down on someone, they were in the background, egging it on. And when the police visited Pam's house, they seemed unwilling to cooperate. I wonder how they are doing, now that Ruby isn't in the home.

Its crazy how Ruby shared how she treated her children to 2 million people and CPS did nothing.
Most of those million were kids at the time I myself was one but even when I was little and watching some signs were very clearly bad
The father should be in jail too 🤬🤬😡😡
So many more questions than answers. Wonder why the dad allowed so much harm to come to his children? Men, dads should be protectors not passive door mats. And how could a mom destroy her children? So happy for this young woman
Passive enabling so so in love with Ruby doormat, Ruby can do no wrong in his eyes
Just ordered her book today! She’s an incredibly strong young woman. Thank goodness Ruby is behind bars.
I’ve been waiting to hear from Shari. She’s a hero to her siblings.
I appreciate that her daughter is taking the time to tell her story. Maybe this interview will help save other children who are trapped in nasty families.
What a beautiful and mature young woman! Good for you!
The dad is also complacent in all of this. He needs to be prosecuted as well.
The father was banished from the home and wasn’t involved in the abuse ruby was charged with. Why should he be charged for something he wasn’t involved in?
'..shes as sorry as she can be..' 🥺 holy taledo 😭😭
That’s sad, isn’t it? The cruel things Shari describes Ruby saying to her back this up. I don’t think Ruby has the capacity to be sorry for her actions - her court apologies are self-servin. The things this woman said to her daughter were cold-blooded. I got a lump in my throat just hearing it, that a child was spoken to in such as cunning, emotionally manipulative and hurtful way - Ruby undersigned her words to injure her daughter.
Well sorry is not going to really do anything she mentally and physically traumatized her kids and they have to live and remember that for there entire life’s that my mom did this to me and they are still young kids who are traumatized at 11 and 13 so they have every right not to call her mom or not forgive her for what she did
She might have sounded sorry during her jail speak but she wasn’t sorry for when she did to those poor kids
Also, she unfollowed the family members that are showing their children on social media.
Take Ruby’s name out of the headline and just put ‘Shari Franke …’
I love that she calls her Ruby - abuse your kids and they SHOULD stop calling you mom and dad
I love her definition of what forgiveness looks like. There really can't be forgiveness if the abuser hasn't done the work to earn it
When Shari says Ruby and not mom it breaks my heart that she will not have never have a mother. I love how she is private and Chad is more public. Chad actually reminds me of Jordan Turpin I can definitely see him becoming an influencer and inspiring others just like Jordan is doing. Everyone is different!!
Jessi, i peeped that , poor girl.
Aw man as a mother of 2 young girls this makes me so sad. I can’t imagine the pain everyone must be going through
Shari looks beautiful!! She is a strong woman who have been through hell with her monster of a mother!! Her mom needs life in prison!!! Shari and her siblings needs love and happiness!!!
The father left his kids to that monster. How can a man allow her to abuse his kids.
What her mother did was horrible!! I hope all the kids can heal from this tragedy.
What did she do? I’m confused
@@lisamartinez5472 It's much easier for you to just Google "Ruby Franke" and read the countless articles written on her and her family.
