  • YAs a licensed esthetician, I’ve made the switch to natural skincare, using my tallow face cream on clients for over a year with great results. One thing to note about natural products is that they feel different from those with synthetic ingredients and preservatives-things your skin doesn’t need! In this video, I’ll show you how to make an effective and affordable tallow face cream that nourishes without the toxins. It may take some getting used to, but trust me, your skin will love the results. Whether you’re struggling with dry skin, irritation, or just want a healthier alternative, this DIY recipe is for you!

    When I render my tallow for face cream I pour it into 2 tbsp molds then freeze them. When needed I take 2 (4 tbsp) of the tallow and melt on low, add 1 tbsp of castor oil infused calendula oil. I put it in the fridge to start to set so I can whip it. This way I can make small amounts. You really only need a very small amount. Delores, I’m in the same boat. I’m 56, right now I use very little. I have been looking. Everything is very expensive especially if you aren’t sure you will even like it. Ugggg. lol . So right now at night I use glycerin ( I have a video on how I’m using glycerin in place of hyaluronic acid. ) then I use castor oil. And in the day I use the glycerin then the tallow. And that is it. As far as cleanser I use tallow to remove my mascara. Then I have a local goats milk soap I use. I do this at night. Then in the morning I just use a very warm wet washcloth no cleanser, I like how my skin feels from the glycerin and castor oil. I hope that helps. I’m still switching over everything. I’ll need to find a foundation that is clean. And mascara. I’ll share when I find something new to me that I like. There is a brand called toups. But oh my goodness if you give them your email they will send you sooo much. But their products are clean and have good reviews. Check out the HA video. I’m going to do a part 2 video and answer all the really good questions everyone has had! At night I use the glycerin then use castor oil! @@amandaparotte rosehip seed oil I would probably use myself, however vitamin c is usually not recommended for breast feeding mothers or very young children. So would recommend you only doing what makes you comfortable. The second thought is the walnut oil. For everyone, my daughter and husband both have a walnut allergy that did not show up until later in life. My husband as adult and my daughter around 8. But you know your family l personally I would choose something neutral jahoba oil is a good alternative . The recipe is definitely loose. The possibilities are endless. Do not add anything with a water base. Stick to 100% oils. Or you need to add preservatives. I hope that helps. Thank you so much for watching. 😊

    What’s the approximate shelf life of this face cream? Do you make the calendula oil yourself as well? Great recipe!! Thank you!

    • @littlebitahomestead6891
      @littlebitahomestead6891  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I would say 8 months to a year. As long as the moisture is rendered out! Yes I made my calendula oil. I filled the pint jar approximately 3/4 full of dried calendula flowers. And filled the jar with apricot kernel oil. ( that’s my oil of choice for use on the face) stain it after 4 to 6 weeks. But I probably let mine infuse longer. But 4 to 6 weeks is plenty of time. Calendula is EVERYWHERE in my garden.lol Thank you so much for watching. 😊

    Is it possible to replace the Tallow with shea butter or mango butter?
    Thanks for this recipe!

    • @littlebitahomestead6891
      @littlebitahomestead6891  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m sure you can. I’m not sure about the oil to solid ratio. The end result would probably be a bit softer than the tallow. I personally would use the shea butter for a body cream and not the face. It can be pore clogging. However the mango butter should be fine for the face. Let me know how it turns out. Hi! I’m really not sure about the butter cream. , For some people coconut oil isn’t a good choice for their face so that would depend on the person. Jojoba is a nice fat for the face! My concern with the butter cream is its shelf stability will be the shelf stability for your face cream once it’s mixed . I personally wouldn’t use butter cream or the coconut cream oil! Sorry! 😊 Apricot Kernel oil! I have an elderflower video and a Mullien flower video where I infuse with the flowers if you would like to check those out! I’m going to do a follow up tallow video to be a little more clear and answer some questions frequently asked questions! Thank you for watching! ♥️

      No sorry. I didn’t put that in the description! ( I hate it when people do that) 😊🤓 oops… thank you for letting me know!! ♥️ 1cup tallow, 1/4 cup of oil of your choice. Heat tallow until it’s liquid, add oil. I doubled the recipe in the video. I used apricot kernel oil that I had infused with elderflower, and calendula. I’ll link the video where I make that oil. A viewer Found calendula infused oil. ( different from essential oil) on the bulk naturals ( that link is in the description for tallow. But they have oil as well. I’m going to do a part two video. And answer some questions and whip some and talk about the options. I hope that helps. Thank you so much for watching. 😊

      @@gaylejones1545 yes it would! I would recommend after you wash your face, while skin moist from the water, use a hyaluronic acid! Then apply a tallow cream! What is the difference between the calendula flower infused oil and the calendula essential oil on the Bulk Naturals website you posted? Could both be used when incorporating with the tallow for skincare? If so, how many drops of the essential oil would you use? (I saw that when using the calendula oil in the video, you used 1/4 cup). Thanks

    • @littlebitahomestead6891
      @littlebitahomestead6891  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The link for bulk naturals is for the tallow. But I went and looked at the oils they have. One is an essential oil. That is highly concentrated and you would just use drops, they also had an infused oil. ( I’m not familiar with their infused oil. It seems expensive. ) but the infused oil is more like what I used. I made an oil infused with the dried calendula flowers. I used apricot kernel oil, added dried flowers and it infused for six to eight weeks. I linked some dried calendula, and elder flower in the description. If you wanted to make a small batch for now. You could use 1/2 cup tallow, 1/8 cup apricot kernel oil. And calendula essential oil drops. Like maybe 15 drops. . And it would be a nice face cream. It’s really nice even if you don’t use the calendula. . Order some dried flowers, get some oil infusion and then you will have some in about 8 weeks to make some with your own oil. I’m sorry I know that’s confusing. I’m going to do a part two video, answer some questions people have. Give you a few more recipe options. I have a video on how I made the elderflower oil. It’s exactly the same I just used different flowers. I’ll link it below. Thank you for watching. I hope that makes sense. 😊

      I looked at that infused oil again. It’s a grape seed oil base. That would be fine. However I would prefer apricot kernel oil. And the 4 oz was $20 ish and I think 8 oz pouch was $36 ish. So it’s not too bad. Plus you don’t have to wait . . Thanks again.

      @ Yes, that makes sense- thank you for responding! So if I want to use calendula essential oil for now, until I make my own infused oil, you would recommend using 15 drops for the recipe you used in the video? Does it still have the same health benefits as the homemade infused oil? (Will it have the same effects on the skin?)

      @loanalacy4701 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@john-jennifer-welch yes I think 15 to 20 drops would be fine. It should still have the benefits. I personally like infusing the oil myself but I do use essential oils as well. There is some controversy about essential oils right now. lol like everything else I guess. 😊 But I wouldn’t have a problem with the calendula myself.

      The apricot kernel oil is excellent for both. Also if you can infuse the apricot kernel oil with comfrey. I have a video on comfrey. ( but I used avocado oil instead of apricot. ) also the calendula infused oil as well. I’ll like two videos where I infuse oils with dried plant matter. Thank you for watching 😊♥️ also to make a small batch with just the apricot kernel oil and the tallow. To go ahead and start using it while your herb oils infuse.
