- This is the first Retail version Electric Silverado, the RST and it was announced today to have 440 miles estimated range, making the longest range of ANY current Electric truck. Chevy challenged us to test it out to see what it REALLY gets.

We'll take 460!😉
Hi Chevrolet my dads chevey bolt ev front logo fell off is there any replacements for that and sometimes his backup camera doesn't work is all black
great car 👏
Amazing! That too driving on dirt roads, rain and everything!
tell what’s inside we have not forgotten about the furby…😡😡😡 they should have thought about that…
good performance
I’m an engineer at GM and I’m super proud to see stuff like this.
Why? It's the heaviest ev truck with the largest battery stuffed underneath and that's kinda IT.
It doesn't lead in charging time, driving efficiency, cost, power or acceleration, towing, payload capacity etc. 🤔
@@4literv6 it’s got the most range. That is pretty much the most important coming to an ev
@@4literv6 Charging time is still fast peaks to about 377 kW.
Curious if you know @sabathrodriguez, why did they go with electrifying an Avalanche?
how do you make it profitably though? Easy to make vehicles that lose money
Woah. AI Jerry could make a mint as a voice over in car commercials.
Agreed
@@ajvYT i think he needs to hire AI jerry
I desperately need AI Jerry Tortoise to narrate books on audible
I would say It's better you underestimate your vehicle advertsiment then overestimate it!
Agreed.
GM does this with every single one of their vehicles. Down to the economy Bolt. Caddy Lyriq as well. Can't wait to see what the Escalade iQ does.
@futuristic_car_channel Porsche does that with everything not just the Taycan.
Undersell, overdeliver 😉
The look on Zac's face when he states, 0% actually means zero, was priceless 😆
Road trip with Agent 47 😂😂
With a 200kwh USA made non LFP battery and already a $10,000 discount off the MRSP already before its launch, there is no way on gods Green earth that Chevrolet are making a single red cent of profit from the sale of this magnificent EV. Still, it just goes to demonstrate how far you can go with a giant 200kwh pack.
@commuterbranchline8132 There is money to be made in 2025 model year off these trucks.
Their gas gauges do the same thing, they say 15 miles then jumps to LOW. You still have that mileage, it just changes so you don't keep pushing it to far and run out.
This is so much better than the Cybertruck. I am not a GM fan at all and think the rest of their EV lineup is a bit meh, but this is the only EV truck I would buy.
Feel free to buy and favor whatever you like. But saying the CT is meh is not a typical reaction.
@@danharold3087 it’s hideous, mediocre real world range, lacks tons of features standard across the entire automotive industry that Tesla refuses to fit (surround 360° camera system, cross traffic detection, no HUD, no ultrasonic parking sensors, etc.), and its interior is highly compromised due to the steeply sloped rear roofline. Also not at all impressed with the stainless body panels. They’re very hard to keep in good appearance and act like a mirror in direct sunlight. Efficiency of the CT is no better than the rest of the EV trucks on the market but it has the smallest battery by a substantial margin and costs 50-80% MORE than what it was supposed to cost.
@@CFG39 Ford's dealership bit Ford in the butt with huge markups and I expect GMC/Chevy dealerships to do the same with this truck. It is a good product. If frequent long range towing is your thing go with the 200 KWh GMC trucks.
Yeah the CyberTruck is more than originally priced 4 years ago. Vehicles in general are up 30% over 4 years ago. Tesla is cashing in on the newness and uniqueness of the CT. 3 months in and people are still buying the $20K over list price for the Foundation series. I agree it is a lot of money. Note that they are already making a profit. In time Tesla will be able to price these trucks below the competition because they can make them faster for less money. And the battery is only 123 KWh hour which is enough for most people. Truck tows and hauls more too with the smaller battery.
@@danharold3087 Enough battery for a car, not a truck. We have a Rivian which we love, but we frequently do 1K mile trips, and we also tow frequently. Cybertruck was designed by people in CA who apparently don't drive very far and have tons of DC charging. This is not true for the rest of the US.
It would have more range if it has smaller wheels too
"You shut the door"🤣🤣🤣🤣
I didn’t know he said that until I was editing the video and saw that clip. It gave me a pretty good laugh.
I laughed pretty good at that too 😂
@@WHATSINSIDEFAMILY maybe you both spend a little bit to long together in that truck😂
I drove my little chevy bolt across the country with my wife from the carolinas to california a couple years ago. One of my favorite parts was the drive from las vegas to palmsprings thru the mojave desert.
2:40 AI Jerry Tortoise take was hilarious ... great graphic too.
Lol. thank you. I laughed too hard at that.

At 70 mph cap unloaded with 2 bodies, it will drop under real use.

Yeah I like to take about 30% off of the advertised range when accounting for real world highway driving.
I’m not a Chevy guy, but I gotta say I’m impressed with this Chevy truck.
NACS is the only thing this thing is missing. Love the fact that the speedo is right there where it should be, and the nice info you get on the display! Instead of big pillars in your peripheral view, you instead get a HUD to help you maintain road visibility. The fact that the backseat can become part of the bed is also super cool. I can't believe that feature hasn't been implemented before, and just the smart way it was engineered to fold in with storage for the window and holes for the seat belt clickers! Well done GM!
I totally agree. Charging at Tesla Superchargers will be a game changer for this truck! It is built for road trips or truck guy stuff in the mountains towing.
The midgate is great. It is not easy to do as it detracts from the structure of the truck. Also curious how well it holds up to a load of sand.
@@skellington2000I have an avalanche. Bought it because of the midgate. my family uses the midgate here and there. The AV was designed with a massive steel reinforcing bar, the typical Silverado has a bed detached from the cab, adding zero rigidity to the cab, and the cab is barely more than just stamped sheet metal. The Avalanche is more rigid than normal trucks. I've hauled stuff with the bed and midgate open in light rain, mountainous areas, when it was chilly, just have to crank up the heat as long as it's above freezing... Oh yea, and you can buy the work truck version right now, it doesn't have the midgate, or the fancy tailgate. Other planed trim levels will give you a choice as well. Probably a pricey option
They made an electric Avalanche, Chev and caddy produced a modified suburban with the midgate. This one is better because of the 60/40 split, so you have get partial use of the bed while having one or two passengers
Fun fact: humans have used concrete for over 3000 years. In Rome you can see the Roman Pantheon, which has a massive concrete dome that was built nearly 2000 years ago.
GREAT Job! LOVE this truck.
Thanks Jon!

Good catch.
I've passed over that bridge so many times, I never knew that. That's awesome
I now need a Tortoise Jerry podcast to fall asleep to

Great video! This is my new favorite EV truck. Cyber truck is cool to see out in the wild but I could never see myself driving that as my daily but this Chevy I definitely could.
Should have called it the Avalanche EV. Can't wait for see the the re-badged Escalade EXT EV based on this.
That London bridge is a hidden gem! If you're ever going close to it, it's worth the hour detour!
Fun fact: when America heard that the London bridge was for sale, they truly thought it was the tower bridge
460 miles of range... PUT THE SPARE TIRE BACK IN @CHEVY!!!
Vids with you and Jerry are my fav on the channel. You two are solid road trip buddies. Thanks for taking us along!
Glad you like them!
I still enjoying my 2021 TB Z71 but this new eletric one may be my next truck and first electric! 😊
"The essence of travel itself" - jerry AI. Tortoise, it's not the way of water. its THE way of TORTOISE 🐢
Great video! I assume with a bed cover the range would have come near 500 mls.
For those that complain that this range can only be achieved because of the large battery, that is true. Nobody is forced into buying the Chevy EV. If about 300 mls are enough then buy the alternatives. GM at least provides the option for those that do towing or boondocking in the nowhere and want to replace their ICE with a lower emission alternative. Let the market decide.
The range extender option for CT would be interesting if the extension battery could be installed easily and removed if not necessary. As permanent installation reducing the size of the truck bed permanently it not very attractive.
We will see if it ever makes it into the Tesla online shop.
It will sound more impressive if you say it can go over 700km
insane range. WOW! and i just watched Jerry's video. so many features!!
I love how often Dan is in Vegas but he doesnt drink or gamble. Man has willpower like crazy
A real good electric truck very useful and super good looking. Well done Chevrolet, you put the competition in shame mostly talking about the CyberFailure.
Guys, This truck looks awesome and has amazing range for an EV. A bed cover will definitely help the range.
i really wanted to see you guys push it!
There might be something to this Ultium platform.... Honestly impressed that a truck company lived up to its promises
That "Something" ... is just a different arrangement in the same battery cells. Nothing advanced, nothing new, nothing impressive. Just a new marketing name for something completely standard and ordinary.
450 plus miles on an all electric truck. There's gonna be a lot of frightened Luddites comments on this thread.
Just amazing seeing Dan's energy spark off Zack!
I really do enjoy filming fun experiences with a co-pilot. Had it for years with Lincoln, fun when Zach is around.
Dang, you reminded me of my youth and that move at 15:19 thinking it would keep rolling.
Love your channel but thank goodness your friend provided us a real review (basic) of this vehicle.
Was looking forward to you providing some further insights for this vehicle but it’s lacking compared to Zacks video.
Respectfully Dan, c’mon mate, bring us more about this vehicle please! Love your channel 😊
Doing a collaboration on the same trip as a tricky thing. I wanted Zach to have something in his video that he could go in depth on that is different than my video so I focused on the fun and range. Also, Chevrolet would not let me give any drive impressions. Those are strictly limited until next month when they let all press and media review the car. it’s not an easy thing to navigate sometimes for videos but considering all of that I think the video turned out pretty good.
Oh, I’m so sorry I didn’t know that. I’ll remove this comment if you like as I honestly and incorrectly thought you were just doing a joke style video.
Again mate, if you’d like I’ll take this comment away. Again, I really do love your TH-cam channels. So sorry mate, I feel terrible.
Thanks for watching! No need to delete your comment. I’m sure if you had these thoughts, others would also.
That’s amazing mate, apologies again and thank you.
Appreciate your responsiveness, understanding and patience with silly people like me. It must be so tiring.
Thank you again. 😊
@@WHATSINSIDEFAMILY oh and if you want to pick on me in your next video you have my permission 😂😂
That turtle dialogue was pretty funny, gg. Also, that was pretty much ideal, other than that we didn't know EXACTLY how many miles it traveled before it died, but having it be higher than expected was cool, but you really ought to test it on roads with 80+ speed limit so you can get a test like you're probably driving your model S.
The driving sound, lack of NACS, dog mode (?) and proof of no fires after one year, will make or break my first Chevy purchase. Everything else is spot on and congrats to Chevy engineers for pulling off that range! Thanks for sharing! How's the transition for Lincoln going into D1 golf? Yesterday I played with the former coach at the University of Tennessee, an insanely good golfer.
He has one more summer of junior golf and I like where his game is rn.

Been hearing a lot of good things about the Silverado.

how does it do off road must be heavy AF! I mean must be 9klb double battery ?
Did just brought in Knight Rider? Oh my childhood! Micheal and Kitt
I kinda like how Jerry always manages to bring things back to a tortoise, no matter what he's actually doing.
Great fun video and really impressed by the range of the truck
It's quite impressive how far the electric vehicle industry has come, the future is bright :D
That was fun to watch you guys together.
This is the range that all the other EV trucks will need to achieve to get more people interested in EVs. I'm hoping the price on these will get more realistic for many and really hoping the 2nd gen F150 EV will have similar range. Love some competition!
It's strange how I subscribe to both you and JerryRigEverything, but only his video showed up in my feed. Had to search for yours to find it.

Been waiting on this silverado it's amazing ❤
Super impressive and awesome review. What were driving impressions like specifically pedal reactiveness. Ive heard EVs have insane acceleration, and Im curious if something like this has a heavy pedal, and requires (relative) effort, like a traditional heavier 4x4, or if its more 'hair trigger' and took getting used to.
It’s honestly a nice looking truck

I don’t know if it’s true but the American who bought London Bridge thought he was buying tower bridge. After buying the real London Bridge he still took it to the US piece by piece.
I love it so much ❤ the most beautiful truck I have ever seen
Beautiful electric truck ❤
I will buy one (not the RST or really a Chevy....prefer GMC looks). GREAT job Chevrolet!
Why didn't you stop at EVGO? Very entertaining/informative.... Thanks!
this is actually cheaper per KWH of battery capacity than the Tesla Powerwall 3. Imagine having 200kwh of energy for cheap while having the vehicle for free. It requires a GM $5.6K hardware kit to integrate to the house. criticizing it, it is pretty redundant to the electronic hardware already in the truck though.
smart.
Fairly sure you can say the same of the other electric trucks in comparison to a powerwall. The gals at transport evolved had significant problem with getting the Ford V2H working reliably. Ford used a 3rd party. I have no ideas about the Rivian. Fairly sure the Tesla is a plug and play if you already have a powerwall. It would be a win if Tesla made the range extender so it could be EASILY hooked directly to the powerwall. Think of it moving under its own power from the box to a rack. Yeah I am dreaming but it is not difficult.
@@danharold3087 For Tesla, capability is there with the Cybertruck. There's just one device that is sold separately to connect to house wiring. Tesla is dragging their feet with V2G capability because they simply want people to buy the xpensive Powerwalls. But yeah, for people with more than enough money for these trucks, cheap and quick way for massive backup power.
@@zodiacfml By one device do you mean the CyberTruck? If so yes. And yes I agree that they should have had it on their cars long ago. But we were talking trucks here.
It was difficult to build the line to handle the stainless but now that it is working it is a much shorter production line and they are popping out a truck every 45 seconds or so. It will be interesting to see the CyberTruck price drop over time.
@@zodiacfml Maybe a 2nd reply to you comment.
"If a home already has a Powerwall and Wall Connector, no additional equipment is needed to use Powershare. However, if a home doesn't have a Powerwall, additional equipment is required."
"No, not all Powerwalls have wall connectors. If your Powerwall doesn't provide whole home backup, the Wall Connector is usually located on your essential loads sub panel. This feature works the same for owners with an off-grid Powerwall."
So it looks like people with powerwall whole home backup are ready to go. Otherwise the connector is about $500.
I'm so glad you 2 are friends:)
If I didn’t have to eat or have a mortgage I might actually buy this.
