    Here is a tip. After I’ve mined the ore from my run and before selling the ore in the commodities marker I’ll check and see if there are any missions that ask for the stuff I have mined. Usually the mission will pay more credits for the material than selling it would.

    • @HUinstinct
      @HUinstinct 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Robbie Smith yeah, plus that rep+ and influence+. Unfortunately I always look but hardly ever find a mission I have the ore for.

    In short: Buy adder, make it full of painite, sell painite for 950k and buy whatever you want. If you still dont have enough, repeat it with bigger ship.

  • @thegwolf
    @thegwolf 6 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    The ZP Adder actually is pretty nifty if you want to dig into some actual profit and make money for a bigger ship,.
    Because its got a size 2 hardpoint on top, so you can deploy explosive charges and use one of the small hardpoints for the abbresive blaster.
    For example in a pristine icy ring you can find Alexandrite or Grandidierite hotpsots and 1 single ton of refined goods from that gets you around 273 000Cr; and 256 000Cr respectively.
    Now if we get 2x8t cargo racks, that'd bring in 4 368 000Cr on the very first successful run.
    That is with the refinery being the 1E variant with 1 single bin, because if you mining selectively, you don't need to deal with any other materials and if you blow the asteroids apart just right that'll mean you need to blow up only 2 of them.
    I'd say that ain't shabby for a ship that'll cost - with retrofitting -around 200 000Cr. It brings back its own price plus retrofitting on the very first successful core mining run and adds a good chunk of money to create some financial safety and then you can start working toward the larger ship of your chosing (plus the insurance and retrofit cost of the new ship just to be sure :P ) Meaning in about 2-3 successful runs you can sit in a fully kitted out Ask Explorer to continue mining with more safety and larger capacity.

    Deep core mining. Asp Explorer with 4 abrasion blasters, 1 seismic cannon, pulse wave, detailed scanner, 2 collection and prospector, with a shield and lots of cargo racks. And a refinery. One haul of good ore from a hot spot is netting about 15-20 mil. You get your initial investment back in one haul. Benentoit, or Alexandrite, or something comparable. 3 really good hotspot rocks fills your hold. Fly 4 or so lightyears out and it goes from 300k a unit to 500k a unit. Worth the work.

  • @matthewtrembley6665
    @matthewtrembley6665 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Great video. Just wanted to add that even if you're just using Seismic charges to blow up asteroids, you should bring the surface blaster to get the inside chunks that are exposed after the explosion.

    Just bought myself an Asp last night after doing the Road to Riches from LTT 15574. This is actually the third vid, maybe fourth, I've seen recommending the Asp for mining, but I do like the idea of using the Adder starting out if you don't want to do sector scans to get money (now THAT was boring). Wish I'd found this video first.

    Also, don't sell your ore at the nearest station. Benitoite ore you mine at Leest will sell for 311k/ton locally, but if you travel just 4 light years to Quator, you can sell the same ore for 703k/ton.
    I use ED Tradepad (Android) to look up commodity prices and selling locations.

    I recently just got back into Elite after a 6 month hiatus,and I'm loving the new mining features. Last week I did some Robigo -Sothis passenger runs with my python and saved up enough money to kit out a mining anaconda. Ive been following your suggestions on the mining vids and I havnt been lucky enough to find Opals or low temp diamonds, just painites and a whole bunch of other stuff that sells around 400k. But mining is definitely a lot more fun than before

  • @grumpybadger1177

    mining progression - it really starts now with the Adder, but a Sidey can get you to the Adder with basic mining lasers and scooping.
    but my "progression"
    Adder - Cobra3 - Keelback - Asp Scout - Asp Explorer (can be considered end-game for alot of people) - Krait Phantom (my personal fave) - Krait Mk2/Python. At least for core mining. Big ships don't really get along with it, and if you can afford a fully fitted T10 for mining ~300MIL~ you're not really hurting on funds anyway. I do think the Krait Phantom can make more profit per hour than the T10 or Anaconda to be honest. It's fast, has good jump range to go from the mining location to the highest selling station, and is easy to maneuver. Kmk2 and Python would be close second for me.
    I have a new commander, and I just got him into an Adder. To be honest I'm probably going to go Adder -> Asp Scout -> AspX -> Krait. just because I like the ships on that list.

    When you're scanning kind of pass by asteroids that are mostly yellow the more read the better which is the higher density of minerals especially if you're going deep core. Now personally I prefer a crate going deep core that gives me 3 large weapon slots up top that I can still fend somebody off with still make some money and have a size 6 left open just for limpets going out and cargo coming back. Personally I like having the fighter to keep my tail clear as well.

    If you wanna go seismic and you never did this before then I strongly advise you to not skip the shield generator. Explosions are not a joke and they don't always go the way you expect them to, so a nice shield and four pips into it is not the worst idea possible for a newbie deep core miner.

Also, I don't get interdicted (by NPC's) much because I don't have any cargo and when I do, I have so far been able to escape (look for the escape vector in the sky and do your best to fly towards it). I believe stations with ALL parts are limited, notice you probably havent found a station with ALL ships? You will have to literally shop around... Or use one of those websites elite have where you can plug in the item you want and your current location and it brings up a list of all the ports with said item, list also starts with the closest ones available... Caution This may diminish your gratification of finding things on your own (that " Finally yyess!" feeling yah know ?)...

    Great vids, man, really helpful for newcomers like me! While I do have a ton of questions and still going through your videos, I do have a more immediate one which I'm hoping you can clear up. How often do you get attacked by pirates while mining and are they easy to avoid or do you have to sacrifice hardpoints to use weapons against them? If you do have to shoot them down, are they going to be roughly scaled to the system you're in or how do you figure out how hard they can potentially hit you? Cheers!

    Shlepped over to Paras yesterday (in open), and everything's tapped :( Also, if I might add to the budgeting, when you're doing your build, use eddb.io to find your ship and modules in a system controlled by Li Yong Rui; you'll get a decent discount on the ship and modules (I think it's a 10-15% discount, but be prepared to have a bit of a hike if you don't already have a ship with a good jump range and aren't near to one of his systems already).

Constantly going back and forth trying to figure out what I need and then I need to remove certain things like docking computers and shields just to fit everything, and I'm terrible at docking and landing, so mining probably isn't going to be my thing.
