We DIY mechanics need to remove the fill bolt first because getting it to a real mechanic when we fail is a lot easier with fluid still in the transmission.
I’d like to keep my 1993 manual transmission with 258,567 miles running. It grinds Into R and slips out of first. New fluid and full in all necessary areas. Do I have to get a new truck or can I get it serviced or does it need replacement of gears?
Is there a chance transmission can get ruined after replacing oil? Ive had this happen to a previous car after shop replaced transmission oil few weeks later the transmission started messing on on gears
@@swamrollbre I've had it happen to 2 automatic cars.. now I have a stick shift and my mechanic is recommending replacing transmission oil and I'm abit worried about it starting to mess up afterwards
can someone please answer me this so my car says it's take 2.8 litres if manual gearbox oil but i can only get around 2.2 litres in before it starts to come out the fill hole again why is this?
Easy and very well explained. Thank so much
Glad it was helpful!

Or drive to the shop for penetrating oil. Its helps to spray it a few days in advance
If your Gail at this you should just sell your car because your probably too stupid to drive also

Will you notice smoother shifts afterwards?
How often should this be done on a Subaru? Thanks

You can have the transmission removed and rebuilt for way way way less than a new truck. Thanks for watching!
Got it thanks
Awesome
Is it safe to replace transmission fluid on a 200k+ mile manual transmission that's never been changed before?
Yeah definitely do. Thanks for watching!
Don't flush it though. Just drain and fill.
@@workingtools2999 Thank you. Everything worked fine :) I love how simple sticks are
Can't wait for this "quick" fluid change turn to an all day ordeal

If they didn't put in enough fluid or the wrong fluid. That's the only way I could see that being related. Thanks for watching!
On a manual / standard?

When you empty it you dont empty all the oil there will be some left that's why.
@@mickeydi yes makes sense now thank you
Horizontally?. I'm sorry, i had to comment. ( Perpendicular.) Nice video, though.
You knew what I meant! lol Thanks for watching!
That's how to service a manual transmission yourself. Don't try this with an automatic transmission.
