Diesel Fuel In A Manual Transmission? A Quick Miracle Fix For Poor Shifting!

  • In this video I go through flushing my NV5600 6 speed with diesel fuel! I’ve been having a issue with the synchros in 3rd and 4th where it wouldn’t grind, but it also wouldn’t go into gear!
I’ve done the diesel flush to multiple different transmissions with tons of success, and the same has been said by others who have tried it as well. If you have done it or do it, please let me know in the comments below :)

For those wondering 8 liters is a tiny bit over 2 gallons 😊❤ this works amazing for manual transmissions my grandpa showed me this years ago and you dont think it makes a difference but i promise it makes the trans feel so different in a good way especially if your trans is older which means it most likely hasnt been serviced on time like it should haha❤

Thanks mate, I'm going to do a fluid change on my nv4500 on the weekend. I'll try your diesel flush idea out.

Sometimes with new fluid it’ll “clean up” overtime, the diesel fuel definitely speeds things up though.
You can always drain the trans and do the flush and then put the fluid back in!

Also going to try it in my zf5

I'm sure it helps when they're really old but I've noticed in my experience just fresh fluid or a better fluid makes a huge difference without flushing it.
I will try flushing on my next fluid change and see if I notice any change on a good transmission

If the transmission is already good I can’t imagine it would make a ton of difference, I thiiiink it made 1 6 speed I had shift a little quicker

Mt 85 for the fiber synchros and mtl for the brass synchros

Hmm I remember reading on the MT85 bottle that it was comparable with the NV4500 so I assumed that’s the one you’d want for the brass synchros

    • @muzzy24v89
      @muzzy24v89 ปีที่แล้ว

@HHK yes the nv4500 has the fiber synchros so that's the mt85 or mt90 the mtl is for the brass

does this work with an automatic transmission?

I would not recommend it, or if you were to do it you’d do it 50/50. The trouble is with the torque converter and the amount of passages in the valve body and the trans itself it would be difficult to get all the diesel fluid out of the transmission. It would take multiple flushes. The best option would be to drain the pan, do a new filter, and possibly disassemble and clean the valve body manually.
You could -maybe- drill and tap the torque converter for a 1/8th NPT plug to allow you to drain it completely, I have a couple torque converters with that done.

When I had my nv4500 apart last time my t case grenaded I did a diesel flush now it’s 10 times worse. 😂😂

      Damn! Well that’s a first
Did you Jack it up to drain it all out?

@@Hazardous-Hotrod-Knowledge yea I did cause I dropped a razor blade when cleaning the top cover surface and pulled pieces of gear when fishing in there so I pulled the whole trans after to inspect. It was a piece of my 4th gear that has been in there since 1995-1996ish 😂 I think it’s just time to do synchros cause after the flush it’s hard to get into 2nd or downside to second
