Are there faster cars for the money? Yes Are there cheaper cars that are just as fast? Yes Are there prettier cars on the road? Not many and thats the reason I'd pick the Aston over any Ferrari.
People who buy these type of cars don't care about performance they're buying the badge. My uncle just got a DB9 and he couldn't be happier he certainly doesn't care it's not the fastest car in the world because you get so much more than just performance figures!
What a beauty!! This is a car you would take your wife out in for a black tie event. Leave the GT3, 458 in the garage for one night! Date night car with the attitude and class!!
The F12 is a mad-supercar with some GT qualities, but I'd imagine it be hell on anything other than dry A-roads with 740hp in FR form... And also, remember this; the Vanquish is only 3/4 price tag of the F12. Still a lot, but that does leaves money on the table for a car that you can beat on snow/everyday and then cruise out in this beautiful thing on a good weekend or special occasions.
Just back from a ride in my friends new Vanq - picked it up yesterday - lucky chap. I don't know what the Ferrari is like but to look at this new Aston is way better off the screen in the real world and that sound track in sport mode under heavy gas - Wow. That will just never get old! On the track at the ragged edge of performance would the Ferrari be better, almost certainly. But in the real world, and to drive a car where people will smile and appreciate your choice of motor? Aston wins.
I dont understand why everything has to be as quick as something like an F12 which is just brutal The Vanquish is FAST, and beautiful. I would own one over an F12. I would never drive an F12 near the limit let alone a Vanquish and who the hell would take it near a track.
I read all the figures.0 to 60 times, top speed, power to weight ratio and they does matter to me but when I look any Aston I just forget everything. No matter how much good that ferrari f12 is in perfomance,in the end I will still buy an Aston and i hope everybody agrees with me.Aston is just one wordwhich is utter beauty.
I reckon Aston will release Vanquish S with even stiffer suspension (James May would be pissed off) and a little bump in horsepower. It would be great if they reintroduce the manual transmission though. It's a pretty niche market since it's competitor, the Aventador and F12 cannot be ordered with a manual transmission. But then, probably they did a survey about the buyer. Perhaps they worked hard enough to climb up to the top,so they don't have to work anymore in the car.
This is a true gentleman's car a true GT...its simply beautiful...ill take this over the Ferrari F12 anyday...if I'm in that bracket I'd probably just get both anyway
I don't think it is just top speed explains why people get these cars. Don't get me wrong, but when driving in an A3 (or golf etc.) every person can perform just as great because you are limited by the limits of the car. What these sportscars offer is the freedom of removing those limits from the car itself, so your reward depends on your own limits = your skills at driving. I think the most important key factor is the exclusivity of the cars, and all high-end cars approach it differently.
Nice car but the problem I have with this is that there is no new design flare to the car. For all intents and purposes, it looks like a DBS with a few little quirks. I think AM are in danger of being stuck in the times with a design which is 10 years old with little or no direction of moving forward. Many people would see this car go past and think it was a DB9. My opinion, is that they need to start on some new models but change the design. Cracking car, but I would still take the DBS
Yes it has, Now they have updated the DB9. which is pretty much the same car as the virage with more power up to 510 HP and slight difference in body design..very slight. But yes the Virage has gone.
at one point your right Ben, Astons seems always lacking of power against it's competitors, let's wait for the Vanquish S - if ever they gonna build it - and have a proper comparo against the F12, that for sure would be a Blast!!!!
Yes The Vanquish S (2005) is still the fastest Aston ever (except one-77) with top speed of 200 MPH... 321 km/h. Vanquish S FOREVER, the true and original Vanquish
Between the Ferrari and this Aston, are great diferences. You can take this , almost everywere, and still enjoy the driving daily. You dont do that, with a Ferrari. Its like using a Versace in a garage sail.
While i do get the comparison to the f12, i just feel the aston and ferrari have different ultimate goals. They both have the rich histories with racing backgrounds, but this vanquish is a softer and more comfortable classy car than a hardcore racer such as the f12. Aside
Agreed, and I don't see ANY situation on the road where I'd need 730 hp over 560 hp. Also, I think the Aston has oodles of personality compared with the F12.
I don't what it is about the F12. It's definitely a handsome beast, up there with the 458 as one of the best looking modern Ferrari's, I'm sure it'll ride and handle superbly and with 730bhp you'll never want for more performance...but, I don't know. Something's missing when ever I look at it or see it in action. But when I see this Aston, I want it, instantly, right the fuck now.
Totally suspect the same, but the thing is that the F12 actually is Ferrari's answer to the more luxurious sports cars out there. Ferrari just never seem to build a car where the emphasis really lies on the GT factor. The new Berlinetta for example even has the same interior as their 458. They're just for children where Aston's are for stylish grown men.
A Ferrari is just pure sports car an Aston Martin stays is a sports car and still a classie car that makes it worth to buy one instead of a Ferrari f12 for me.
With over 550hp and a carbon fiber body, this car should be faster. The new Corvette Sting Ray over 100hp less than this new Vanquish, but it still does 0-60mph in under 4 seconds. Now we know that the good looks is always there when it's an Aston, but with all this power, carbon construction and lunch control, one would expect this car to accelerate faster.
From price, the f12 is definitely more of a drivers car with true track performance. Evident with its transmission even, the vanquish just isnt as intense as the ferrari, in all aspects, therfore i think the aston cant be directly compared.
So agree with dontex7 if I buy a Ferrari y probably got an Aston too. Both are beautiful in his designs and engines..love Aston love Ferrari love Lamborghini love Bugatti all are amazing
Aston is more comfortable, slower, more raw less electronics. And amazing break feel. Ferrari is great too cus its got the comfort and the speed. This is more of a bentley continental competitor.
But hes right, the Ferrari f12 has two boxes to tick off. One, to be a GT car on the road and user friendly, which it is. Second, to be an animal on the track, which it is as the fastest production Ferrari, with the most horsepower. So he is right in saying the Ferrari over the Aston.
By the way, have you seen this video? It is two guys from EVO magazine in the UK who go to Brazil to drive on a particular road in an area called the Serra do Rio do Rastro which is in Santa Catarina. Do you know this road? watch?v=dzGuZ2eZzz8 There doesn't seem to be any speed cameras here:-)
Can't really compare AM Vanquish to the Ferrari 458 Italia One is a thoroughbred sports based super car, the other, a stately GT supersport. AM is all about the sophistication, class and is an intimate car. The Ferrari, nothing more than a show-off, look and listen to this, road going race car. Don't get me wrong, both cars are fabulous, but not really, in my perception, the same category of vehicular stature. And being Someone of a design fed background, the AM takes the win all the way for me.
I think that maybe assesing a car in terms of another, for this kind of market, isn't really that good of an idea, given that each brand has its own defined personality. lamborghini, ferrari, aston, they're all different games
It does need those extra 130 hp because its a $300,000.00 car. For that price the when you put your foot down you're going to feel the difference. There is no way you spend that kind of money and you have the same hp figures as a M5.
Its amazing how these horsepower wars have made a 565 h.p car deemed underpowered. How much power does one need fore a daily driver? my car only has 330 h.p and its quicker then most cars i encounter on the road.
I know what you mean:-) You could never use the full performance of these cars on a public road and any of them are more than fast enough for anyone! Obrigado. Até logo ok:-)
I LOVE to feel like bond and that would never give us one ferrari only aston can make it, and well if you can afford one car you can buy another maybe the 458
I would choose this over a Ferrari anyday. I dont want a racing seat, on a carbon fiber chassis. With a car like this, you are getting the power, speed, but most of all, class and luxury. things a ferrari doesnt have in my opinion.
I'm sorry to be picky. But the seat are hideous and the interior has way too much colour going on. Couldn't Aston break up the door cards with so different details. They're the only thinks stopping me buying one.
I don't really like the way it looks, it's boring now. The interior looks similarly outdated. They should bloody make a new one that looks different instead of pretending to be James Bond. Buy a used 20k mile DB9 for £40k instead? Yes.
not a great look interior. back end is ugly compared to db9 and dbs. astons have never been about numbers and specs. they're about emotion and elegance. beauty and class, something a ferrari will never match. i'd take a db9 over any ferrari any day of the week.
Are there faster cars for the money? Yes
Are there cheaper cars that are just as fast? Yes
Are there prettier cars on the road? Not many and thats the reason I'd pick the Aston over any Ferrari.
People who buy these type of cars don't care about performance they're buying the badge. My uncle just got a DB9 and he couldn't be happier he certainly doesn't care it's not the fastest car in the world because you get so much more than just performance figures!
I agree with your Uncle
What a beauty!! This is a car you would take your wife out in for a black tie event. Leave the GT3, 458 in the garage for one night! Date night car with the attitude and class!!

So glad they've put the better gearbox in this now!
Finally an Aston that won't be confused for Jag on the road.
Great camera work, and a great review!
A good review. Quality without the needless superlatives. Comparing it to the market leader is also well done.
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Still love it over the newest, till today
The weather is fabolous, the car is fabolous and so does the hole video - it's fabolous. Awww.. I'm in ♥ with that scenery and sound..
Nothing but Beauty ... British sports car always deliver a classic charm
I dont understand why everything has to be as quick as something like an F12 which is just brutal The Vanquish is FAST, and beautiful. I would own one over an F12. I would never drive an F12 near the limit let alone a Vanquish and who the hell would take it near a track.
That is the best looking and sounding car that has been made in the last 20+ years
I read all the figures.0 to 60 times, top speed, power to weight ratio and they does matter to me but when I look any Aston I just forget everything. No matter how much good that ferrari f12 is in perfomance,in the end I will still buy an Aston and i hope everybody agrees with me.Aston is just one wordwhich is utter beauty.

Yes it has, the DB9 2012 and so on has replaced it.I think you're thinking about the 4-door Rapide.
fantastic cinematography, amazing

The sound is fantastic ! Great video.

the best drivers car is Porsche 911. BUT, the most beautiful is any Aston Martin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
at one point your right Ben, Astons seems always lacking of power against it's competitors, let's wait for the Vanquish S - if ever they gonna build it - and have a proper comparo against the F12, that for sure would be a Blast!!!!

love the sound! but i still prefer the look of the new DB9 (Virage).
Haterz are gonna hate Aston Martins are the be all and end all of motoring,, Aston Martin excellence in motion.
In Santa Catarina I see. Looks nice:-) 25mph radar traps on every corner? Well, a Vanquish wouldn't be much use there then.
Thanks
Between the Ferrari and this Aston, are great diferences. You can take this , almost everywere, and still enjoy the driving daily. You dont do that, with a Ferrari.
Its like using a Versace in a garage sail.
You are speaking from my heart!
I need to drive these roads!
Anyone else noticed noticed that the aston top speed happen to decrease by model to model?
Vanquish>DBS>Vanquish (new)
How far over the speed limit were you to lose your licence for 60 days?
Most Ferrari's may out perform it but I bet Aston owners have a bigger smile
Aston Is the best I think
Aston should have just ditched everything they were making and called this the DB10 instead.
I'd have this over an f12, just the sound ..
I don't what it is about the F12. Yes you're so incredibly correct. Why aren't you reviewing???? GTR FTW LOL!
What's difference with borage
By the way, whereabout in Brazil are you?

beautiful in and out

damn right, u have to think when you park it and walk away from it, what gives you a smile? the aston of a f12?
But hes right, the Ferrari f12 has two boxes to tick off. One, to be a GT car on the road and user friendly, which it is. Second, to be an animal on the track, which it is as the fastest production Ferrari, with the most horsepower. So he is right in saying the Ferrari over the Aston.

totally agree!
i coudlnt agree more with ur comment! Exactly!!! Ferrari too much racing style (interior) for me!!! Aston is just perfect
I know what you mean:-) You could never use the full performance of these cars on a public road and any of them are more than fast enough for anyone!
Obrigado.
Até logo ok:-)
absolutly agree
i think this new vanquish looks even better (realistic) than the 77. lol
I LOVE to feel like bond and that would never give us one ferrari only aston can make it, and well if you can afford one car you can buy another maybe the 458
i feel it's about time astons change their style. Time for a reimagination.
Hold the wheel man or the video could become surprisingly interesting
Isn't that Michael Vaughan?
I would choose this over a Ferrari anyday. I dont want a racing seat, on a carbon fiber chassis. With a car like this, you are getting the power, speed, but most of all, class and luxury. things a ferrari doesnt have in my opinion.
たしかに、どちらも乗ったわけではありませんが、VanquishのほうがF12より一般道では乗りやすいかもしれませんね・・
This is better than the F12
Looks: Check
Sound: Check
Performance: FAIL
The standard recipe over at Aston Martin. I can think of better ways to spend $270K USD+.
yes
new DB9 better value for money...i actually think it looks better...much cleaner
This is more beautiful than the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta !
Where's the suit??, I can't even look at an Aston without wearing Hugo Boss
How does this even compare to the F12?
Unless you want to have an accident. KEEP YOUR HANDS ON THE DAM WHEEL.
ma favorite car
Vanquish and F12 are big GT`s - that is only similarity.
I'm sorry to be picky. But the seat are hideous and the interior has way too much colour going on. Couldn't Aston break up the door cards with so different details. They're the only thinks stopping me buying one.
oooo one of these in bright red... ooooo.
beautiful car, not a fan of the interior colour
the new vanquish is limited to 299km/h
unless, like me, you live in Germany without speed limits ;)
the vanquish is a car for a gentleman as it allways was when it comes to aston martin. the F12 looks like a bougie...
You do not need license to drive :D
I don't really like the way it looks, it's boring now. The interior looks similarly outdated. They should bloody make a new one that looks different instead of pretending to be James Bond.
Buy a used 20k mile DB9 for £40k instead? Yes.
F12 is GT!
not a great look interior. back end is ugly compared to db9 and dbs. astons have never been about numbers and specs. they're about emotion and elegance. beauty and class, something a ferrari will never match. i'd take a db9 over any ferrari any day of the week.
this car is my dream car, i'd make sweet love to it, it's absolutely beautiful.
This car fucks
also, the Aston is a million times better looking than the ugly F12.
b e a u t f u l
the ferrari is tacky;
P
beige!!! ruined the interior!
Vanquish this vanquish....löl
Whats difference with virage
