- m0a.com How to enter Class D airspace - Radio communication is one of the most difficult things to grasp as it seems so different each time. However if you actually break it down it follows a similar pattern. My good friend Jamie Beckett always says "It's like ordering pizza. Who are you, where are you, and what do you want" Enjoy the video - Jason
love how this guy is always so enthusiastic!
I was taught to estimate distance on a straight in by using the runway length. An 8000 foot runway is about 1.5 miles. If you can fit two runways between you and the airport that's about a 3 mile final, and so on. Usually works out pretty good.
Awesome vid Jason.. I just passed my check ride last Saturday. 41.4 hrs.. All thanks to your ground school and videos..
I’ve never been so inspired to follow my dreams of being a private pilot. Thanks Jason I recently went through your remotepilot101 course ( work asked me to take the course for drone surveying purposes ) and almost aced my part 107 only missed 2 questions, any way my true goal is to become an actual manned pilot and I am considering your mzeroa ground school. Someday I’m gonna go to an event your at just to shake your hand. Thanks again, Chris.
Great stuff, Jason. New Online Ground Academy member, who flies out of a Class D. Was on comms for the first time this past week. Everything you've been saying has been spot on. Thanks!
Thank you my friend
wow. perfect timing. I just did my first cross country solo, the easier of the 2 I will do. The next one I will incorporate entering a class D to get my 3 towered landings and takeoffs.
BIG Thanks for all your videos, been watching them religiously.
Great video Jason!! I watched a lot of your videos throughout my training and my instructor recommended your videos to me also! I passed my checkride yesterday, and I just wanna say thank you for all the help! (P.S. you met my mom and dad at Sun'n'Fun!)
I'm not a pilot, but watching these videos makes me respect their intelligence.
Guywithcrazyideas It's easy, he makes it look hard
Guywithcrazyideas Its not too difficult man, its just a lot of studying and learning. anyone can do it
Out here in Utah, I look foward to flying in Delta or Larger Airspaces! lots of guys dont talk on comms when flying in the vast areas of echo and some golf airspaces. Hope your enjoying the Tecnam! It was one of our old birds and we replaced it with a Baron 55!
It was great to have met you at Oshkosh Jason, really enjoy your videos!
Good info. I fly Class G, a pilot controlled airport, all the time. Needed to get up to speed on Class D airspace. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Channeling Garry Wing there. Very nice! Great explanations of the terminology and what is expected and what is not necessary. Great video.
Love videos like this! Best channel to learn from on TH-cam!
Just remember when you line up on a very extended straight in and it happens to be on an instrument approach, you might want to fly offset the final outside Class D because ATC may be vectoring another aircraft for that approach...and it could be a C550! ADSB is still 2 years out and relying on that as your "safe zone" for other traffic could be interesting. Aloha! Bob
Jason,
...another wonderful addition to your en-lightning series!
But, when you describe the sight picture(s) you need to cut to that sight picture for us. You’ve got a Go-Pro pointing right out the cockpit ....A lot of us fly Sims, and as a consequence of our flat non-3-D picture, sight pictures are extremely helpful…just my humble, appreciative comment.
Chas
Another excellent video and refresher / tutorial. Thanks again for all the great content.
Paint job looks awesome.
I love your vids I met you at sun n fun you singed the movie flying again I loved it and I never stop watching it with some popcorn
Loved the video... Love most if not all of your videos where your passion in aviation really comes across and is much appreciated. With this video, i have one very minor critique. You have a Lanyard with Keys on the right yoke. Probably should not do that as the lanyard could catch and cause the controls to not react as you would think they should. Again very minor.
Sounds like a normal day in Page Field. Hello from KFMY. Thanks Jason
Fantastic video and paintjob! Could you do a video describing how to operate the radio and VOR stack in detail?? other than that just more vids like these!!
Great video, is N23MZ still flying?
Hey Jason beautiful approach and plain paint job! Nice vids and wish I had that 172!!
What GoPro mount do you use for the instrument panel view? I would like to start my flight training and want to record my flights, what camera would you recommend? Lastly, how long would 128 GB SD card last? Thank you you have inspired me to try to become an airline pilot, best of luck, Noah
Jason, thank you for the video. I am doing my first x-country into a Class D airspace tomorrow. Would you also want to announce via radio when you are clear of runway after landing?
Awesome! Thanks for this, Just got your book in the mail.
Great colours!
Great stuff, learned something new today :) .9 stuff about ground freq
I know a guy who's Jason's twin in Duluth only with the Minnesota accent.
Always thought about flying, not sure i could project the required attitude toward others, everyone seems to treat others as if they are fools. Everyone has to start somewhere. I realize that this a very serious “sport” and any action may have a bad result.
is m0a a flight school? or is it just mainly online instruction?
Your Cessna colors are so pretty
Very informative, Thank you.
Cool video thanks.
Learned something new today, "Ground-Point" 121. ....
Jason, why didn’t you contact “approach “ first before contacting tower? At KCYS we contact approach first...
You dont have to for a Class D airport. Class C or B, you do.
121.?? = ground thanks . love it!
How much are your aircraft rental rates?
Jason Which Vertex Standard? VHF or UHF Which MHZ 136-174 or 450-512 or other choice. Thanks Bill T.
So, when you make your calls to tower, how do you know how far away you are from the airport?
Larry Luffel He's probably using a GPS, but if not you just estimate
report 5 mile final is not the same as 'call you in 5 miles'. I realize that 10-5=5 but it would have been better to explain to the viewers what report 5 mile final means
Thanks for the great video. Beautiful livery though!!
Funny the guy that called to transition was what i what to hear/ learn.
What go pro mount are you using inside of the cockpit? thanks!
they look like RAM mounts
How can a control tower not have radar?! Is that a common thing? Is that also why DME is required for the ILS approach in Ocala.....because the tower has no idea where you are?
Towers not having RADAR means that they're not controllers.
Here in Canada, they're called Flight Service Specialists (FSS). They are basically capable of doing everything ATC can do, minus directing the flow of traffic.
You are a good pilot
Thank you for watching, Mohammad!
@@MzeroAFlightTraining hi I am helicopter pilot and need to know about radio telephoni subject lf you know please sent for my heard lneed complet film or pdf thanks
thanks again
I thought most controllers are not happy if you don't make your first call with your whole N number?
The N is usually left out when in the US due to that being the registration letter for the country. Most controllers are fine with the N being left out unless you are flying a US registered aircraft in another country or a aircraft registered in another country here in the US. The only time I really find it important is for planning/filing and opening flight plans with Flight Service, even when opening a plan most really don't care. The main thing is don't shorten the full (not including N) number until the controller does. Our flight school bought some planes with custom/close tail numbers which can throw things off. We have 48D 8UD 38D, so it can get confusing sometimes, there are a few others I can't think of off the top of my head too.
