I just had my first cross country yesterday and am planning a cross country to a class d probably next weekend. Really appreciate your videos!

Great video. I am a pilot but have probably 5 to 6 hours at most in Class D airspace. I flew from my Dad's private airstrip over to Class E airspace and another airport that was Class G airspace. So I have very little experience in Delta airspace. For some reason I can make all the calls to others just fine but when asked to repeat something on the fly, I struggle. I like how you stated you were going to land long to avoid turbulence along with you didn't want to taxi that far either.
Thank you again for a very good video.

Chris, Nice job on the video. I'm liking the Tips/Training videos.

I'm liking these more demonstrative videos. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed your earlier, more narrative videos too; but these little bite-sized demos are coming at a good time, because I've just started ground school, and will be starting the practical lessons in the spring.

This is great! Thanks for giving the context here. I personally love D airspace flying.

Some military class D will assign a squawk code to VFR traffic. Not that many private VFR pilots would be landing at an airforce base, but in the lower 48 there are areas with tightly packed B, C, D and restricted airspace that make it common to take a shortcut through a class D.
It may be capped by a B or C shelf and maybe book-ended by other restricted areas or airports, terrain, or some other reason like weather that makes staying in class E/G and going the long way around into a huge detour that adds 20 or 30 miles or threading some narrow corridor at low altitude over water.

It's a matter of perspective, I think. I'm going through my training at a class D (KFWS). I'm very comfortable talking to tower and ground. But it's the calls at a non-towered airport than I need to work on. And then we're in the shadow of a big class B (DFW)

Great video! I’m wondering why you fly from the right seat even when not instructing and solo?

Now I want to move to Alaska to take my flight school with you Chris. lol. Some schools offer ground and air training combined but do schools look negatively on you showing up having completed online school & passing the test on your own? Will they still want to test or quiz your knowledge I’d assume? Thanks
