That does very little to begin with. As long as your hood fits tight, all that does is prevent it from moving at all, ive driven a dozen with it and a dozen without and I couldn't tell the difference
Hey 800 Auto. Thanks for the awesome video as always. I’m a good customer. Any chance on letting me know how many coolant temperature sensor’s there are on this model and locations?
Good video. You didn't replace the upper and lower Radiator Air Seal, the upper is Subaru # 45167AE000. The seal probably keeps more air flowing through the radiator vs over or under. I just replaced the radiator and after the fact realized I should have bought the OEM seals or picked up some weather strip. Your video was helpful. The longest step of the job is waiting for the thermostat to open to burb the system.
what would be the consequences of not replacing that strip ? *it seems for me to but one online it would cost about $65 (aud) and i would have to wait for january for it to arrive from its overseas point of origin ? (i can buy the whole radiator locally for $105 yeah but it doesnt come with that strip seal)

Thanks for the clear instructions! It's basically the same for my 08 Impreza. Questions: about how much ATF must I add to replace the amount lost? And should I add it before or after I run the engine to burp the coolant system? Many thanks-
FWIW, turns out my atf was already overfilled and even the amount lost in the old radiator was less than the amount overfilled. Next job: replace the atf.

It would have saved me a lot of time and trouble, not to mention expense, if you had mentioned that this would be a good time to check and see if your fan motor shaft bearings are shot. Because I wasn't aware of this development, my neighbor, a professional mechanic, pointed out to me that I should probably go ahead and purchase a new fan motor to replace the 5 blade motor on the driver's side. After I had already installed EVERYTHING. I ended up purchasing the whole cowling, motor and fan blade assembly from Subaru (at considerable expense). Now I know what was causing the annoying vibration coming from the engine compartment. It's all buttoned up and ready to get back on the road. Lucky I had a 2nd set of qualified eyes while I was burping the coolant loop.
What size is the radiator coolant hose you replaced? I read that there is 2 different sizes to watch for 5/16 & 5/8 ? My question is when replacing the hoses can you put the wrong size are is it noticable if you need a bigger or smaller hose?
im curious ? it seems the oem radiator comes with all the foam panels at the top and bottom of the radiator ? the new radiator replacement i have ordered is basically identical but doesnt have the foam strips like the origional. what i am wondering is ? will it affect the cars performance in any way installing a new radiator without those foam strips ? or do they have a vital function in the radiators over all performance ? i would like to do the replacement job properly once and not have to take it out a second time to make adjustments later on if it can be helped , so if anybody here can offer honest advice it would be greatly appreciated ;) thanks in advance yeah

It's ridiculous how good of a mechanic she is. Every video that I watch that she is in, it is so well done and smart!
I just got a 2004 legacy, your video was awesome! I will definitely watching all of your 2004 Subaru videos. Thanks
Very good video, very thorough. I appreciate the suggestion of rotating the clamps to line up previous wear grooves. Kudos!

This is super helpful. Thank you. But what about the foam strip across the top of the old radiator? I didn't see one on my new radiator.
What did you end up doing? I’m just starting it rn

So you dont have to top up the transmission fluid after?
Don’t forget to check the transmission fluid
