"Real Emo" only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90's Screamo scene. What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta. Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football, My Chemical Romance and Mineral EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE
This was a bittersweet sounds like for me. I never realized how much the Linkin Park guitars were a setup for the vocals, I was enjoying the guitar parts but was left hanging waiting for the big vocal exclamation point! As a guitarist, this is really strange for me because usually a good guitar riff is enough for me but in this case the absence of the singer really hit home when the vocals never came. RIP!
THANK YOU SO MUCH ! Linkin Park is one of my favorite band. The passing of Chester blow me away, and you have done it so well. It's so close. Thank you. Great job.
Similar experience here. Heard One Step Closer on tv in an other room, asked the person watching who this band was. Changed my life and started my musical journey. Thanks Linkin Park!
I grew up on a lot of Linkin Park. Nicely done, sonically with it. It’s not an easy sound to replicate, so I can appreciate the time y’all took to learn how to get them tones as close as you could. Great job.
Minutes to Midnight is definitely my favorite, but as Mike and Chester always said, they're a band for all the fans not just the one's who only like the early stuff, or only the later stuff.
I'm a liitle bit late here but... 11:10 is so much better BEFORE than it is AFTER to my ear. It has this sweet CONSISTENCY, i don't know how to put it right, this SOLIDNESS which is later somehow distorted by the pedal (not that it ruins the sound, it's still great but, well, torn apart maybe). Huge sound, indeed!
Bass player's name is Dave "Phoenix" Farrell. I enjoyed this episode of sounds like. I must say "What I've Done" was great even though piano part wasn't right the song is played on a strat, but I like how Rebea combined two guitar parts into one. That sounded awesome! This was great gentleman. I love love LOVE that you guys didn't play behind a back-up track in that we could actually hear what you and your equipment sound like. Much appreciated. Keep on rocking.
great idea but I guarantee they'd fail. it's actually pretty easy on bass; boss ds1 distortion, cs3 chorus and boss 7 band EQ to scoop the mods and boost the low end. tune it to B standard and play loud as fuck and you're good!
Definitely one of the best “ sounds like “ .Bought Meteora and Ozzy Live at the Budokan at the same time and love them both equally . Great guitar sounds on both albums and the guys nailed the LP stuff here -with a £ 475 PRS - nice one 😀
Have you guys (as in Anderton's) considered doing Sound Like videos with full band set up? I reckon that could improve the overall Sound Like experience. It would make for a better viewing for the channel/s because not everyone who watches the guitar videos watches the drum vids, etc. What do you think?
Fairly easy to be honest. Epiphone Les Paul, Blackstar, and save your money for pedals. Fuzz, Delay, and Tremelo, there are so many options of those pedals. Or Depending on the price of the Les Paul you could get AC15 and try and get some pedals as well but you would need a good reverb pedal.
For Joey Santiago i would get a PRS with trem beacuse he uses a LP with a bigsby i think i would also go with the blackstar besause he uses a Marshall and a Fender at the same time and yes the most important pedals are Distortion, Fuzz, Tremolo, delay and reverb. For Black Francis i would only get a Tele, an OD pedal, an AC30 and an acoustic guitar.
Well, for less than that Bassbreaker, they could go PRS Sonzera 50w 1x12. It's an EL34 "Marshall model" amp that would definitely fit the bill, and they rarely use them (unlike Bassbreakers, Katanas, and DSL40s)
I love the premise of ‘without busting the bank’ but I feel it’s the same old stuff that gets used. Maybe the odd guitar that’s different but the amps are often the same old 5 that get rotated. How about raising the budget to say £2000 and maybe changing it up a bit. It’d give a hell of a lot more room for variation.
Hypothetically it's not that hard to get Slayer's tone: on a budget all you would need are an EMG loaded mahogany body guitar for Kerry and an alder body guitar with EMGs for Jeff and then a Marshall DSL40. You could stretch your budget on both too because neither Jeff or Kerry used effects pedals. There are some that say to get Slayer's tone you need a Kahler equipped guitar but I think that's more for the way the Kahler does dive bombs and other whammy bar stuff sounds different from the Floyd Rose guitars, but I think you could make due.
@@kylegoodman5196 "neither jeff or kerry used effects pedals" that's actually wrong because Kerry does use chorus for the clean riff in Seasons In The Abyss, some delay and a little bit of wah too, and i know jeff did use the dimebag darrell signature wah but yes, emg guitars for both of them (with floyd rose bars) and marshall dual super lead combos

The fact that people still make Linkin Park related videos is so heartwarming for me

I wish they would start doing the bass side of bands too when they do this.
They normally do with single guitarist bands. There's not a lot of bass in general on this channel though.
Yeah, or do a bass-related rig for some of the single-guitar rigs (Like a Roger Waters to go with David Gilmour, Flea for John Frusciante, etc.)
They do sometimes when they think that the bass parts are really vital to the sound. As (primarily) as bass player though, I agree. :)
I was literally thinking the same thing!
Yeah, they should do £3000 per episode do two rigs, or even 3 for £4500 when theres 2 guitars & bass. As long as they stick to £1500 per rig.
Linkin Park is amongst the main sounds of my teen years, still cherish 'em hugely!
