I have a Korn related story you might find interesting. Around 23 years ago I was having breakfast at the Sugar Shack in Huntington Beach and this guy sitting at the table next to me had this really cool looking tattoo of what looked like a psychedelic Cheshire Cat on his upper arm. I'd seen him around that area a lot and noticed it before. I had my camera with me so as he and his friends got up to leave I asked him if I could get a picture of his tattoo. He said sure and i took a couple of shots and thanked him. The group walked away and I sat back down at my table. A few seconds later my waiter comes over and says "Do you know who that was?". I shook my head and he said, "That's Dave, the drummer from Korn!" (I'm so dumb)

Munky came out later and yelled at them and had security throw them out. They drank the bands beer supply for the night and smoked a bunch of their stuff.

I think all the instruments have an equal part in Korn songs and that paired with Jonathan's amazing voice, is the reason they are so unique and one of the best bands ever.
Wow. It's cool to see this particlar Jackson, because this is the model that I own. And also the first seven string I ever bought (and for even cheaper price than you are talking about). With DR-DDT strings it sounds amazing, the tuning is absolutely stable, no trouble with drop tunings. And if the pickups are too hot, you just roll back the volume pot a little bit. Amazing instrument for ridiculously low money.
That intro to "Falling Away" you need a BBE Soul Vibe or some other good vibe pedal. The distortion sounds good. That Iron Label sounds great. The thing is, is that in order to really sound like Korn, the bank must be smashed and busted wide open.
Dave should have been on bass for this episode. It's such an integral piece to the Korn sound. The finger and slap style, along with the strings dropped down so low, that they buzz and smack against the fretboard and act as a form of percussion.
ESPs N Mesas for the later stuff or a Gibson and a ESP/ Jackson and Friedman’s to get that hot rodded Marshall sound that James/ Kirk had on the earlier stuff.

@@philisaacs224 I mean if you're willing to go all out you might as well just look up their rig and get the gear they have. Depending on what era you're looking for might get different results

I was listening to KORN on the way home. Perfect.
Can we get a Metallica BY busting the bank? Also, maybe something on Periphery.
I always see Kirk's ESP Ouija and James' ESP Iron Cross Eclipse in the background so I'd love to see that one sometime
I'd love to see a Dual Rec half stack on here.
PERIPHERY????!!!!!!!!!
ESP James Hetfield signature, Vulture, Iron Cross or Truckster
Mesa Dual Rectifier & Cabinet
Roland JC40
Boss LS2 (Just to switch between the JC and the Rec
Diezel VH4 Drive
ESP KH
Marshall JVM Head & Cab (unfortunately andertons don't have Randall)
MXR Analog Chorus
MXR 5150 OD
and all the Wah Pedals in store
I mean, I know what they use for live and studio, but it'd be cool to see what the guys come up with at Anderton's.
You want a challenge? try King Gizzard's microtonal sound on a budget
Easy, just grab a squire and a few toothpicks.
You guys do such good work, I'm entertained while educated. It is much appreciated. I'd suggest doing a Sounds Like for Clutch and/or Fu Manchu. I'd dig that.
It is becoming clearer and clearer each video that Pete is in need a few more things to do around the Andertons store. Perhaps he can begin doing set-ups on the guitars for shipment. We love us some Pete. Smiles of coarse.
The laughter over the perfectly in tune feedback even got me laughing! 😁.....nice to see some banter
Highly infectious laughter at the end. Absolutely made my morning!
Sound like polyphia... please 💙💙💙
I think all the instruments have an equal part in Korn songs and that paired with Jonathan's amazing voice, is the reason they are so unique and one of the best bands ever.
Somewhere deep inside me still beats a 14 year old heart that loves Korn. That Falling Away From Me intro got me PUMPED. Do Rammstein too!
Hey guys . Was heads tech for awhile, Korns tuning is ADGCFAD.
Hey mate, can you share any info on his setup with string gauges / wiring etc? I have a mint K-7 and would love some inside info. Thanks!
Sound like Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers please.
The finger and slap style, along with the strings dropped down so low, that they buzz and smack against the fretboard and act as a form of percussion.
sound like metallica by busting the bank pls
Yeah, came here to request the same, it's long overdue
ESPs N Mesas for the later stuff or a Gibson and a ESP/ Jackson and Friedman’s to get that hot rodded Marshall sound that James/ Kirk had on the earlier stuff.
And as many EMG81s as you can eat
@@megaduck7965 well , yeah, but they have their signature pickups too
tejaswi choudhary it’d be rude not to right
My God guys this was amazing. So awesome, yz nailed it. Considering the absence of the bass I'm amazed you got this close. Well done!
Sound like Jason Becker without busting the bank
I don’t reckon they could play any of his songs
He didn't use anything crazy did he? His carvin into a Marshall, probably a ts and some delay/reverb. But yeah Rabea would develop tendonitis when trying to play his stuff..
The two of you together are great. Absolutely love this series. Keep it up! Great entertainment and educational.
Could be wrong but I believe Korn plays in Standard A!
you're correct! it's D Standard on a 7 string, so A,D,G,C,F,A,D
FINALLY. IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR A LONG TIME
You should do The Stone Roses as this year is the 30th Anniversary of their self titled album.
Ye boyyyy
Great video guys! Please do:
-The Cult
-Police
-Stray Cats
-Ted Nugent
-UFO
-Pat Travers Band
-Eric Johnson
-Blue Öyster Cult
-King's X
-The Fixx
-The Faces
Luke Simkins I want the Cult!
The Police>>>
Sounds pretty close to me. Nice work \m/
You're in the wrong tuning, they play in A D G C F A D tuning for their riffs.
DaggerFall Productions - this is “sounds like” not “tunes like” lol
@@Burnt_Gerbil they did the same with dimebag, and it does affect the sound, especially harmonics
DaggerFall Productions - Not as much as you would think. If they didn’t tell me, I wouldn’t know the difference.
@@Burnt_Gerbil well then I must be some sort of virtuoso if you didn't notice.... (That's a joke btw)
Yeah big mistake by them. Falling away from me is way off
*nu-Metal scatting intensifies*
StratintheHat Boom na da noom na na nema?
Aaron Silverio indeed
BBK has the best nü metal scatting of all Korn career
"ME-50 back in the day"
I played with an ME-30. God.... I'm old.....
And I had the ME-5...
Finally after years of waiting you guys did Korn.. now when the %#$@ are you gonna do stone temple pilots
I thought they did, like 3 years ago. I could be wrong. And I would love to be proven wrong. I think a more modern version would be great.
STP could be tricky cause each album has a different sound/tone & feel. Unless they base it off Deans current live setup!? Not sure.
Sounds like Fear Factory or Strapping Young Lad/Devin Townsend
I second this for SYL/ Devin Townsend (More for Dev cause his sound is more diverse)
“Both are Ibanez players, one being a baritone!”
Munky has a signature Ibanez, regular 25.5 scale - Head has a signature ESP LTD model, again regular 25.5 scale. 😂
Even his last Ibanez sig, the KOMRAD, had an RGD body but still a 25.5'' scale
Head just recently switched to ltd
Those are modern contract deals.
25.5 scale flops like crazy in drop A. Unless your using the biggest Strings you can find. Even then it's hit or miss.
Nerdy_Jr.2737 yes, I know. I’m saying his last Ibanez sig, which had an RGD body (typically longer scale instruments), was still a 25.5’’. He plays an LTD with Fishmans and an Evertune now.
@adam nelson if you ever go to 8 strings. Be prepared to do tons of string testing. I think it took me 8 different sets for me to find the right tension, and still have a clean channel. You know... For open tunings.
And why use Boss Multi FX if you have multi fx on the Katana?
I always preferred "Got The Life" to "Freak On A Leash."
Yes. Got the life was always better.
Nah
i prefered Blind to Freak On A Leash
That bass in Got The Life is crushing!
Korn is a band that changed the game with their lower tunings mixed with awesome Fieldy bass grooves!
Sound like Dokken without breaking the bank
Saw them headline Rocklahoma Saturday night 🤘🏼 y’all nailed their huge sound
Wes Borland or Daron Malakian by busting
Pretty sure they already did limp bizkit
D1L4TE By busting not without busting
@@philisaacs224 I don't remember. Just search limp bizkit on their channel im sure you'll find it
D1L4TE checked... just without busting
@@philisaacs224 I mean if you're willing to go all out you might as well just look up their rig and get the gear they have. Depending on what era you're looking for might get different results
Jonathan Davis is one of the top 3 nicest celebrities I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.
Correction Head now has a signature model with ESP
Thank you! I was looking for someone else to point this out!
Yo this is sick, he uses the same pedal board I use, makes it easier for me to use as a lesson.
Sweet Korn is my favorite! Although I believe Monsanto owns the seeds now. Sad face emoji
Ahaha
Sounded pretty spot on to me guys. Good work out there!
Technically their guitars are a full step down tuned. On a 6 string, it would be D Standard, and with a 7 string the low B down to an A...so A Standard (i think?).
Yeah, it's A,D,G,C,F,A,D
A Standard
The valve amp and the mesa pedal makes a world of difference... Such a great tune.
06:00 - tbh that sounds like every teenager in the early 00s trying to sound like Korn but it comes out like just a bunch of noise 😂
i think that sounds pretty close to the intro to the song IMO
but i see what you're getting at
They forgot to buy .10-.60 gauge strings.
You gotta consider that “muddy” was a lot more acceptable in the 90s and early 2000s.
bout time they brought this series back
It sounds like a gaggle of trolls sitting around the Black Forest banging on trash cans.
So pretty close then.
Been waiting 4 this one!
Worth watching til the end for the nervous breakdown 😂
Oh my god I’ve been waiting so long
Sounds like Eric Johnson without busting the bank!
Who listens to Eric Johnson lol
@@RlotttHD me.
Excellent job guys! Bea was in his element and who knew Matt was such a death-metal shredder? He was born for a 7-string! haha. Thanks also for demoing the ME-80 with the Artist. I am getting an artist for my birthday next month but didn't think the GA-FC had enough/the right effects.
You guys had a great time on this one and it showed. Cheers. \w/
Head has been with ESP/LTD for the last few years. He has a signature model with them.
Funky Monkey1886 ikr. Idk how they didn’t know that
but it's £1300
too expensive for without busting
@@sakimiyu4169 It might be too expensive but they said both Head and Munky use Ibanez. Which is wrong especially when Andertons have Heads ESP/LTD in stock. The whole thing came off as a bit half arsed full stop. They only played a couple of riffs, what was wrong with trying to play Blind?
@Funky Monkey1886 i agree, they should've totally done Blind cos it's perhaps the quint essential Korn song
I would like to see more of these videos with multi-effects. For people on a budget, multi-effects are a great way to get multiple sounds without having to buy so many pedals.
Sound like Ritchie Blackmore
Sound like Nirvana under 500
Sound Like SRV by Busting
Sound like Judas Priest
Sound Like Blur
Sound like Nirvana under $500 get a cheap squire get a boss DS-1 from a pawn shop get amp from pawn shop tune the guitar then don't tune it again for 3 months and done. Kurt bought alot of his gear from pawn shops
Great video! Love Korn for many years... That could be close for a Korn cover band!
I'd love to hear something like As I Lay Dying and/or Wovenwar (mostly same musicians). Great tones to seek out there and if it were a budget-friendly sound then I'd be very interested to see the gear used to achieve their sound. Periphery might be a nice endeavor as well. In Flames?
good job, fellas! takes me back to the days of being a young lad in Bakersfield hearing an also young KoRn for the first time and thinking "well, these dudes are different!". then they exploded, ha
Yngwie Malmsteen by not busting the bank.
Metallica, Testament, ARCH ENEMY, Accept, Iced Earth, Judas Priest, By Busting The Bank. Yes please I need!
Love you're great show! Greetings from Sweden.
YES! I didn't know how much I wanted this until I saw that title.
OOf.... Right. No bass...
You guys might have to bring in a third person for the BY busting. lmao
You did pretty great, considering. I mean, multi-effects and 10 watts, but still, not a bad tone. Very much missing that bass though...
Can't wait for the BY busting...
do TOTO! What amp would do that type tones (clean crunch and lead) but it's not 4k?
Not horrible. The bass def makes the sound. Should do a perfect circle next. Also more breaking the bank videos. It’s fun to see you guys pick stuff out with no budget.
