We need a trivium edition of this!!!
Trivium now has a plugin with AmpKnob, if that’s a sound you want it can be very easily had with 0 effort and not much money. Matt uses his signature Fishman Fluence pickups and Corey uses his signature Seymour Duncan pickups. Matt uses a Gibson scale length guitar with .10-52s and Corey I’m not sure off hand.

@@terogates1 What's your favourite album from Trivium? I just discovered the band during the pandemic, specifically during the as the major Black Lives matter protests. Mine is In Waves. I just listened to the whole thing very recently, and I thinks it's their best front to back piece of work.

Avenged were my gateway into metal, and was where I really got into drums. Learning all The Rev's parts really formed my style and view of the drums. As I've got more into guitar I'm having the same experience all over again

I have that Chapman ML2 Pro we get to stare at for a while in the showroom - it's an insane value and is meant to be drop-tuned. It's my metalcore guitar, and I LOVE it!!

i still remember when Avenged first came out. pop-punk was the hot rock sound so magazines (yes, magazines) were bending over backwards to paint Avenged Sevenfold as a punk band when they were clearly metal.
Many years ago I took a trip to andertons and the Schecter Synister Gates with the suatainiac they had there was the most fun guitar I ever played. I walked away with a reverend and dont regret it, but I still dream about that schecter sometimes!

I almost bought the Gates sig guitar when I hadn't been playing for that long (ended up with a Gibson Explorer). Anyway man ide have been fuxked with that floyd rose. No clue what I was almost getting into.
Ben and John are always a good pair. Let's see what they come up with today.
That Chapman guitar is bad ass
The playing was awesome, especially the synced harmonies. It would be nice to bump the budget a bit to 1200 or 1500 so you had more guitars and amps to choose from. The Katana is a superb value and deserves every bit of its popularity, but we need a way to spread the love and showcase some other gear. Digital John could get a speaker if he had a few hundred more :}
I would like to see fewer Katanas show up in cheap gear guides. But I also understand that Katanas are such good value that they're impossible to ignore when a budget is tight.
And if the Katana were banned for future gear guides, we'd just see Bugera 22 watt amps with a cheap preamp pedal in future videos.

Sounds pretty spot on, but next time could we get a little demo of each individual rig so we can see how each one sounds by itself?
I prefer the sounds like with these 2 rather than Dave Simpson (Cici was awesome though).

Would still be busting the bank for a lot of beginning kids, so would be quite interesting how you would chose for those too and still get a sound that gets close.

I like the new format of this series but I do miss the bass rigs. Was there generally less interest in the bass side of these Sound Likes?

I think bumping the budget up to 1200 or even 1500 would be appropriate in this day and age to make these videos more fun again.

It was 1500 a few years ago.
Matt and Rabea did $1500 as the budget, but when Dave and Cici took over for a short while they went down to $1000. Guess John and Ben decided to keep it at $1000.

You guys should try doing Misfits.
I feel as if the modeler without a speaker doesn’t fit this challenge. Not all venues will be able to accommodate you and you can’t really rehearse without one without a PA. I’m all about using modelers and profilers in these challenges, show people what they can do with little money please, analog or not. Also this matters less but I didn’t really think the Chapman fit the bill either. It’s a good guitar still. I’m curious if you can fit a modeler/profiler with a speaker/ power amp and cab and still make it work.
