Trivium now has a plugin with AmpKnob, if that’s a sound you want it can be very easily had with 0 effort and not much money. Matt uses his signature Fishman Fluence pickups and Corey uses his signature Seymour Duncan pickups. Matt uses a Gibson scale length guitar with .10-52s and Corey I’m not sure off hand.
@@Return2TheLiving oh yeah that’s true I’m debating getting those actually I forgot about that it was like back in March right? I have Matt’s 7 string already but the old model wothout the fishmans just the regular emgs ( love that thing btw so much fun to play their songs on it) I heard everyone say it’s heavy so when I got it I was like… this weighs less than the schecter syn custom lmao that and I am like 6’1 so I’m a big guy with big hands too that’s could be why it feels light for me( Matt’s taller than me I think at 6’3)
Another amazing video. Would love to see both a version of this video by busting the bank, and my favourite band in sort of the same genre as A7X which is Trivium, both by and withou tbusting the bank.
@@terogates1 What's your favourite album from Trivium? I just discovered the band during the pandemic, specifically during the as the major Black Lives matter protests. Mine is In Waves. I just listened to the whole thing very recently, and I thinks it's their best front to back piece of work.
@@cgnefarious5785 I'm saying if they did do one, they should do a without and by busting the bank. The without Busting the Bank might be easier to do 6 string Trivium instead.
Avenged were my gateway into metal, and was where I really got into drums. Learning all The Rev's parts really formed my style and view of the drums. As I've got more into guitar I'm having the same experience all over again
100% can tell John loves A7X the playing compared to other sounds like was on point!!! Now to dial this tone in on my cortex and go back into the teen years memories!!!
I have that Chapman ML2 Pro we get to stare at for a while in the showroom - it's an insane value and is meant to be drop-tuned. It's my metalcore guitar, and I LOVE it!!
I have the omen extreme 6 string axe and am strongly considering getting the 7 string model of the one you are playing. Iv never even seen a 7 string guitar in person so it will be fun to experiment with it. I love getting new equipment and seeing what I can get it to do ❤😊 red and black are also my personal favorite color combos, my first tattoos are my initials black lettering red filler
Many years ago I took a trip to andertons and the Schecter Synister Gates with the suatainiac they had there was the most fun guitar I ever played. I walked away with a reverend and dont regret it, but I still dream about that schecter sometimes!
i still remember when Avenged first came out. pop-punk was the hot rock sound so magazines (yes, magazines) were bending over backwards to paint Avenged Sevenfold as a punk band when they were clearly metal.
I would like to see fewer Katanas show up in cheap gear guides. But I also understand that Katanas are such good value that they're impossible to ignore when a budget is tight. And if the Katana were banned for future gear guides, we'd just see Bugera 22 watt amps with a cheap preamp pedal in future videos.
I almost bought the Gates sig guitar when I hadn't been playing for that long (ended up with a Gibson Explorer). Anyway man ide have been fuxked with that floyd rose. No clue what I was almost getting into.
Wow... Not only did they do great matching tones (even though Ben copped out with a Katana 🤣) but John and Ben's playing was *incredibly* tight. We'll done, fellas.
Now we are talking!! Would love to see you guys do Kill Switch Engage, Parkway Drive, Ghost, BABYMETAL (the Kami-band, of course, unless you're gonna attempt some Kawaii vocals lol), and Dance Gavin Dance!!!!
The playing was awesome, especially the synced harmonies. It would be nice to bump the budget a bit to 1200 or 1500 so you had more guitars and amps to choose from. The Katana is a superb value and deserves every bit of its popularity, but we need a way to spread the love and showcase some other gear. Digital John could get a speaker if he had a few hundred more :}
A very good option for the guitar would be a Schecter SVSS. I have one in Blue Reign. I like to think of it as a baby syn custom model 😅. It has a double locking floyd rose, and optional systaniac which mine has, 24 frets, and overall very similar specs and features to a syn custom model.
Don't you just love it when mellifluous musical magicians take a bog-standard bit of low-budget kit and make it sound like Zack Vengence's Live In Reading? Keel me already
I've got the Schecter Omen Extreme 7, Fuckin baller guitar. Can't go wrong with them. Even their Diamond Series pickups are wicked hot. Huge Schecter fanboy lol.
🤘Ml3 Pro Modern Chapman sounded best . That Schec was a bit thin for me. But it couldve been the processing too. But MAN those dudes wailed bro. Hats off from a fellow player.
Would still be busting the bank for a lot of beginning kids, so would be quite interesting how you would chose for those too and still get a sound that gets close.
Matt and Rabea did $1500 as the budget, but when Dave and Cici took over for a short while they went down to $1000. Guess John and Ben decided to keep it at $1000.
I feel as if the modeler without a speaker doesn’t fit this challenge. Not all venues will be able to accommodate you and you can’t really rehearse without one without a PA. I’m all about using modelers and profilers in these challenges, show people what they can do with little money please, analog or not. Also this matters less but I didn’t really think the Chapman fit the bill either. It’s a good guitar still. I’m curious if you can fit a modeler/profiler with a speaker/ power amp and cab and still make it work.
This could be thirty thousand-odd band's rigs. This could be Sound Like every single thing in these two's itunes account and not change a single piece of gear.
I've head off that band but never heard any of there music, after listening to this I realise I've not missed anything. Thanks for sharing and saving me money and time. 👍👏👏
This was GREAT!! Well done Digi John & Djenty Ben. Cheers, Lee
Huge kudos to Ben and John for keeping this series alive. They're doing a fantastic job.
How was there no DIGITAL JOHN graphic when DIGITAL JOHN said 'I'm gonna GO DIGITAL!!'
I too came here to ask why we didn't get a "DIGITAL JOHN"!
We need a trivium edition of this!!!

Big improvement from the 2 who took over after the GOATS Rebea and Matt imo
I dont know how many years I've been waiting this video hahahahaha.
Thanks for this🔥🔥
Me more than 10 years. 😂
My fav band of all time - had a great time doing this 🦇❤
Absolutely loved doing this, 10/10 fanboy'd hard at download on sunday haha
Did I miss it or what speakers was your rig running into?
My favourite band too, got to see them live last year!!
Never would have picked that
Thanks!!❤
City of Evil is a masterpiece of an album! Heard Blinded in Chains on NFS Most Wanted as a kid and that flipped a switch in me!
Missed these kind of videos, thank you for this!
Been waiting probably 9 years for this video!

Coincidently I thought about these series yesterday and wondered whether Matt still works at/with Andertons. Fond memories.
Matt and Rabea had a good run with these. So many great videos.
Matt works for chapman in r&d i believe.
@@mobeus84 Matt was co-owner. director and head of chapman guitars, think he resigned a few years ago.

Would still be busting the bank for a lot of beginning kids, so would be quite interesting how you would chose for those too and still get a sound that gets close.
White Lies would be an interesting one to do some day.
I think bumping the budget up to 1200 or even 1500 would be appropriate in this day and age to make these videos more fun again.
Part of me thinks they're doing great at $1k, but then how many times do we need a Katana showcase? 🤣

Love ya man ❤
definitely miss rabea and matt, but its nice to see some new faces and passing the torch to these guys.
I like the new format of this series but I do miss the bass rigs. Was there generally less interest in the bass side of these Sound Likes?
Please do the Eagles for the next episode!!!❤
Digital John would need a speaker for sure. Maybe headrush frfr would get you there?
