Any Parker hose store will be able to professionally crimp A/C connections to the hoses and offer corresponding coupling ends for the components. Screw type hose clamps Will leak refrigerant under pressure. Best of luck with the project
@@MyHumveeMathilda ..Chris, I've been following your channel. I have a M-1025A2. I plan to add A/C in the future, and will most likely use the same type of system...Question is, with the supply and return lines routed up through the floor to the radio tray ( condenser) .How do you plan to remove tray / dog house to service the engine without diss connecting it, and loosing your charge? Also what type of grommet did you use to protect lines from sharp edges of the holes drilled for them???
Rubber grommets you get at harbor freight. I haven’t shown it in the video. Small stuff I did after as clean up. And I’ve used riv nuts to fasten the ac to the top shelf of the dash. It’ll unscrew and I’ll be able to move the tray to the side Incase I need to open the doghouse. I won’t be disconnecting the hoses.
ECC Auto LLC is also a great place to get kits. Actually the kit shown in this video looks like the exact kit I bought from ECC. It comes with everything but the engine bracket, belt and Freon. Vintage air is twice the price and no compressor
Good afternoon. Great and informative video. Quick quest about placement in the radio tray above dog house, how is the ease of access when opening dog house to service plugs and such? Is extra length of hose and wiring tucked away. Thanks in advance Happy New year
Honestly, just like if you have all the radios connected, you’d have to remove them before opening the doghouse. I’ve tried putting rivnuts at the top of the tray, so it’s easy to remove and bend out of the way if need be.
I'm curious on how long it will hold before those hose clamps start leaking. I would recommend getting those hoses crimped but maybe they hold? who knows, depends on how hot the ambient temp gets and how high the pressure gets as a result. I am not HVAC mechanic so who knows, it may not be a problem lol.
I also hope those lines are refrigerant hoses. Regular hoses will probably degrade with refrigerant. But again, who knows. Let us know if anything happens. I want to know if I wasted my money on crimps and expensive hoses lol
It would totally cool down a 5 ton 2 seater cab. These are made for hot rods and 4 door classic cars. It’s holding pretty well. Ran it all summer here in muggy NC
I am surprised that this was not available as a 24 volt version. I know they make them aftermarket for older Semi Tractors where people customize them for show trucks. Probably would have been twice the price. I have been eyeing the unit offered by Midwest Military but at $5K? Nice thing is one replaces the heater box with their all in one unit and you add a box plenum at the front of the dash. Looks really nice but $5K? They have got to be kidding! At least it will be a cool ride in the summer. How is the heater for winter?
VERY VERY interested in how you disconnected the clutch fan connector. From above/below? Did removing the bulkhead help? Would love to see more on this element
Im looking to see if anyone has installed a low pro RV A/C unit on a fiberglass or steel roof? They usually run on 110volt but a inverter would solve that issue. You can get a 24v to 110volt 3000 watt for $270. You can get a 13,500 BTU one for about $1150...and it wont be a added pulley to the engine
Why couldn't you get a bigger condenser and pump for like a bus or a suburban or something? Keep the head unit inside and just use bigger components. Or stack 2 condensers?
Ive installed Vintage Air in a few cars. That universal kit will not cool the HMMWV adequate enough to really be comfortable. The evaporator is way too small for such a large space.
Great question. I was worried in the beginning because I had to remove one of the belts and use it on the compressor and that left only one belt running to the alternator. But it was a brand new belt, so I was hoping it wouldn’t make much of a difference. I’ve been driving it since then, put about 200 to 300 miles on it no problem so far.
Way, way too small of unit to even adequately cool a HUMMER with all its additional heat insulation!!! Will never be able to cool down the interior of a HMMWV.
Actually the interior of a humvee isn’t much larger than a typical suv. As long as the weatherstrip is good and there’s no leaks in the cab this works perfectly. Believe me, I drove it for two days on sunny days. It works just fine. I wouldn’t use it in the desert though.
@@MyHumveeMathilda Believe me ...I was on the development team for the HVAC system of the Civilian HUMMER (H1) as well as the design, production and testing of the HVAC for the M-997 and M-996 HMMWV Ambulances at AM General.
@@jimbella9353 I am in Miami FL and my legitimate RED DOT system has trouble keeping up in the summer. The cold master kits just are not enough BTUs with that single core tiny condenser.

Great video. Really liked the format and explanation.
Thank you.
@@MyHumveeMathilda GREAT JOB!
Really nice job Chris... another budget friendly project...keep it up...
Thanks Kevin.

They are thick refrigerant hoses.
Great job but you have the fan operating in the opposite than the radiator one (that fan should pull and not push)
Never noticed that. I’ll go check. Thanks. 🙏
Humvee just became 80% better thanks to A/C systems
Indeed
How is it still holding up ? I’m curious if it would cool down a 939 5 ton series truck cab .

Exactly. $5000 VS $600, I’d go for the latter. There is a 24v kit as well, but I already had the 12v kit bought. The heater works well too.
Keep up the good work!
Thank you 🙏
Checkout lizard skin for heat and sound proofing.
Where you get those zip ties from that you use on the radiator
They’re called ‘pull throughs’ you get them at any auto parts store. Ask them for Pull through fasteners for radiator fans.
@ thanks you

Reach your hand in from the viewpoint I shot from and disconnect. Don’t forget to reconnect. 😂
What’s the update on the A/C install. How is it working so far? I plan to put that in my unit.
Thanks
Works great
Curious to know what would you guys value parts and labor on a project like this?
About $1000 parts and labor.
Hi,can I plug in the heater lines as well in the blower unit?
Some kits come with heater/ac. Depends on which one you bought.
Can provide Electric ac kit

This works just fine for the humvee cab. Sure it takes 2-3 minutes longer to get bearable but it’s fine after that.

I am about to install my red dot kit and it came with a new 5 groove pulley, but the way you did it looks way easier than swapping out that pulley.
Do you have the PN# for the fan belt??
Why not go with an electric A/C compressor?
I wanted to, but there’s scant information about them out there.
How many amps does it consume?
Depends on the unit you buy. Different BTUs and size of the unit.
Boy , that’s al lot of work
Yes but worth it. 😅
