- Continuing the cabin build. I had some help this trip (thanks to my 19yr old twin sons) setting the roof rafters and installing our cedar dock. Thanks for following along!

Great job on that roof
You should consider putting bearing blocks under the loft floor joists instead of relying on two bolts to carry the load in shear. Not seeing any collar ties or hurricane clips (IBRC code) and you may need a tie rod with a turnbuckle where you do not have floor joists to keep the walls from spreading since you do not have a ridge beam.

wow, you really have to be 100% confident in your abilities to pre-cut all the rafters. I cut one rafter took it to the site and fit it and it's a good thing I did cause I was off by about an inch. Good job.

Nice. You have to remember to always wear your life vests, always. The game wardens will ticket you, and most of the time you're farther out than you realize and getting back to shore may not be easy ir possible

Brilliant! Thanks for this. Got the floor done in my own cabin...can't wait to get the walls up. I notice you don't have any blocking between the studs to fix the Zip sheeting horizontally. Maybe it's not necessary?

I designed it myself, but borrowed from many other designs I found. Worked the build around windows and doors I got good deals on over the past year.

Im just about as far north as you can get in the lower. :-)
It has a total northern Minnesota vibe (which is where I’m from)

Just for camping until I can build a "real" retirement home here. :-)
