Thanks for all the support team! My dad is thoroughly overwhelmed by all the comments and everything. He said this morning “wow, 5000 people have watched my video?” 😂
Stuff to put inside the baby-on-a-line outhouse compartment: *> functional ~* Tampax pads? tissues? napkins? a tiny pencil & sketch paper? sticks of gum? *> random or interesting ~* mini mural or painting? engraving? an embedded audio recorder for outhouse users to entertain the next user?
“Art should be functional“ love that! I feel that way about decoration in my home. I really don't like clutter so I just have a nice useful objects as decoration :)
we need more people like your dad. you are soo lucky to have a role model like him. he is super talented, has unquestionable craftsmanship, has great wisdom...all in one packet. you both make hillarious team on video
"Why do you like old stuff?" "Well because I don't like new stuff very much." . Can we all agree that Guy needs a podcast interview. Would love to hear more of his thoughtful wisdom. Plus no camera so no nerves?
As a furniture and cabinet maker is is really inspiring to see and makes me want to make a cabin in the woods, but lets face it, it will never be as beautiful as this. The craftsmanship is phenomenal!!!
Your dad is awesome! I absolutely love the idea of functional things being artistic and artistic things being functional. and 'It all makes sense eventually' speaks to me of trusting the process of life. I've never heard so much wisdom during a tiny house tour before. Love it and love the cabin!
As a builder of boats I very much appreciate the sense of honoring materials and the communion that can manifest though the act of creating a beautiful thing. When I saw the image of this cabin, I had to watch. Art reflects the artist and so I was not surprised to like the creator as well; clearly a man of substance and thoughtfulness(and humor). Our family recently acquired an acreage with beautiful trees - a lifelong dream - and I just bought a mill. Knowing the place a tree lived it's life, I am humbled by "the responsibility to use it with integrity".
Having your and Leah's families on camera was an amazing idea! I'm loving all the interactions. And your dad's craftsmanship just speaks for itself - he really cares! And so do you. It's brilliant! Love to you, Leah and your families!! 💕
I love the way your dad expressed that once he is finished with the project, he doesnt need it any more. He kind of forgets about it and moves on because the value is in the process. I identify with this sentiment and sometimes wish the people around me could understand why it is so easy for me to let go and move to another big project. Your dad is cool!
I can definitely see how both your parents have influenced you to become the human that you are. Your mother a caring, responsible, school teacher who has strived to help her community; and your father a intentional/meaningful creature of the nature around him. If only we had parents teaching us to truly be good, decent guardians of this world. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for acknowledging my mom in there too. She doesn't get to be featured here because obviously it's about my dad's work but she's an incredible person who definitely made me who I am today.
I am in complete agreement with your Dad, my house is furnished with restored and repaired furniture that I have worked on for years. My favorites are the work camp chairs and tables from the 30s made from oak and ash, well designed and extremely sturdy. Most only need knocked apart and reglued.
Hey Levi, sprinkling ashes down the outhouse hole works great to keep the odour to a minimum, and it also works to keep the bugs away... cuz we all know bugs don’t like smoke and ash. Great video, super practical and aesthetically pleasing cabin, and great philosophy talk too. Way to go Dad! Thanks to the Hildebrand men for this one.
Like the mirror idea as well. Also could do a mini version of your Dad's art symbol (man) and put on a spring so pops out when door opens. Like a "Jack-in-the-box " Love the interaction between you and your Dad. Great video and phenomenal craftsmanship. Instead of cheapest and fastest (to days mantra) your Dad created something with meaning that will endure generations
Man, I already love your channel, you and Leah, but now I love your dad too. I'm a woodworker here in Brazil, and I'm amazed by your father's work. I'm planning to move to Canada soon. For sure I'll reach out to you and your family to see this fabulous place! 👏👏👏
My favorite video of yours EVER ...you are fortunate to have such a wonderful dad, you've obviously inherited his sensibilities thx for sharing that amazing cabin🙏💙
Thank you so much Levi and Guy for giving me a little hope and perseverance in this eco-anxiety filled day. It's just what I needed :) P.S.: Your dad is awesome!
Wow, such coolness, such wisdom and such skill! You're very lucky to have a father like that Levi! Please get him back on the channel again soon. "It all makes sense eventually"
Your dad is fantastic! Tell him he needs to be in your channel more! Lol. That outhouse is Dynamite too. A Buffalo Bill picture should go into the art piece in there. "It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again"
Any plans for solar power in the future? Small cabins like this are ideal since its power intake is suitable for the amount of power the panels can generate during the day!
What a cool cabin! I love all the big beams. Watching you with your dad makes your channel and passions make so much sense all of a sudden. He seems like a cool dude. This video just made my morning :) It reminds me a lot of my family's cabin at Sulphurous Lake (up near 100 mile), but man yours is much more artistic than ours. It's the same size as this one. We built it with mostly scavenged materials from the dump and furniture and kitchen stuff from the share shed. The kitchen and windows and doors came from a neighbour's house that was being torn down. I think the coolest part though is that we built a solar array that tracks the sun to power the cabin. It has a water tank that we fill up once a year from the lake and an on demand hot water heater. Drinking water has to be brought in though. Right now it still has an outhouse but eventually we want to add a composting toilet. We do the same thing with the ash in the outhouse!
I am in love with this tiny house! I believe that The Capable Carpenter would love love love your Dad - Thank you for sharing this - I am starting to understand more and more about our footprint on this earth.
In Norway it's a tradition to have the king and queen in the outhouse. You are welcome to borrow them, maybe Queen Elizabeth or any other canadian "royalty". 👸🤴
I would very much love to see your dad, Guy Hilebrand, make a bunch of videos! He has a message we all need to understand. He seems like a person who has a talent for making it understanable for us all. Please Guy, make some videos of your own, just talking about your process and why you chose to do it the way you did.
In Norway people use to hang a picture of the royal family in the outhouse! This originates from when people used old newspapers to wipe. If the newspaper had a picture of any royalities people felt like they could not use that page so they would hang it on the wall in stead 😄. Nowadays people intentionally finds a picture of the royal family to frame and hang in their cabin toilets/outhouses 😊. So I suggest you put a picture of Queen Elizabeth 2nd in that cabinet! (She is still the queen of Canada, rigth? If not put the Norwegian royal family, they are pretty cool people 😎)
Respect Levi, but I don’t think you truly understand the level of craftsmanship your Father has attained. He’s so good, unless the next video is about him and his achievements, I wouldn’t make another video about his stuff just for your TH-cam numbers. I’m blownnn away with his work.
Thanks for all the support team! My dad is thoroughly overwhelmed by all the comments and everything. He said this morning “wow, 5000 people have watched my video?” 😂
❤️

Make that 5001
how about 2 years later when 215,000 have viewed it???
your dad should make a channel of his work. no need to talk, just him building.
Absolutly
👍🏼
Yes more of the cabin and less talking.
Yesss!!
“Art should be functional“ love that! I feel that way about decoration in my home. I really don't like clutter so I just have a nice useful objects as decoration :)
That’s awesome! Why own ugly stuff? Haha
Get your dad to start a youtube channel. He's epic.
“Is this enough vein”! If your dad wasn’t so nervous about being on camera I’d say get him his won channel! He’s a hoot! And has skills!
I need a dad like yours, Do you have a spare?
He's so cool. A man who wants to make the world better, that's the kind of role model every kid needs.
we need more people like your dad. you are soo lucky to have a role model like him. he is super talented, has unquestionable craftsmanship, has great wisdom...all in one packet. you both make hillarious team on video

Perfect idea!
Your dad is so wise! I'll save this video as a reminder to always persevere. "We're all just stories in the end. Let's make it a good one, eh?"
More Guy please, he had so many quotable lines of genius wisdom
I think your Dad seemed very comfortable on camera by the end of the video....you have a budding "star" on you hands!
Hahaha I’ll have to tell him that. 😜
Guy..your son will be living with you for life only way to get rid of him..quit feeding him...
Dad rocks. The world needs more of him.
As a fellow artist / creative person, your dad is legendary in the most simplest & calming of ways.
Your dad is so cool. Great to see where you got your way of thinking from
As a furniture and cabinet maker is is really inspiring to see and makes me want to make a cabin in the woods, but lets face it, it will never be as beautiful as this. The craftsmanship is phenomenal!!!
Thanks for saying that!
Put a fake mustache in there so you have a “secret stache”
Hahaha well played my friend 😂
Best advice I hear today. "All makes sense eventually"
Your dad’s so cool. Like his philosophy. And his handiwork.
Your dad is awesome! I absolutely love the idea of functional things being artistic and artistic things being functional. and 'It all makes sense eventually' speaks to me of trusting the process of life. I've never heard so much wisdom during a tiny house tour before. Love it and love the cabin!
Your dad is so cool. What a great influence you've been able to have in your life, Leah and Levi!
This is basically my dream home. I'm jealous.
It's so cool to see how diverse Levi's channel is. All I have to say though is we need more of his dad!
Your Dad is a pro on camera! Tell him I love his cabin. Would love to live in it. The wood stove is an amazing touch. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the comment! I’ll make sure he sees it!
The lamp makes me think of a caterpillar. So cool.
I was thinking the same thing!
So satisfying to listen to a calm craftsman providing a rarified unifying philosophy. Thank you.
A man that takes pride in his craftsmanship is a dying breed. Learn everything you can from him.

You are blessed to have such a wise father. Id like to meet him someday. He's a man you can learn from. His humility is real. That is rare these days.
Having your and Leah's families on camera was an amazing idea! I'm loving all the interactions. And your dad's craftsmanship just speaks for itself - he really cares! And so do you. It's brilliant!

Thanks so much! Really glad you enjoyed it!
we need more artists, woodworking, painting, sculpting, etc. That is what I need more in my life - inspiration, LIFE, expressive art
Guy did such a phenomenal on that house. He’s a genius. I hope you truly appreciate having a father like him.
Really loved this video. I’m in awe of your dad’s ethos, wisdom, and craftsmanship. The cabin is beautiful!
Thank you!
I’d love to know more about your dad’s art career and how he got into woodworking!
For the outhouse.. You could put a couple of small pine cones.. seeped with a nice smelling oil.. open the cabinet door when required.. 👍👍
His clothes are perfect. I loved his workmanship.
Love your dad! And his tiny house 🏡 you could put a mirror in the outhouse box 😉
Hahaha I love that idea!
I was going to say mirror also!!
Third voice for a mirror.
Like the mirror idea as well. Also could do a mini version of your Dad's art symbol (man) and put on a spring so pops out when door opens. Like a "Jack-in-the-box "

Levi shaking the stair case really got me

Thank you so much Levi and Guy for giving me a little hope and perseverance in this eco-anxiety filled day. It's just what I needed :)

Unforgettably beautiful outhouse - and the Dutch door promotes it to a class of its own.

Congratulations to your dad. It looks amazing! He is an artist!
That is an absolutely beautiful and artistic cabin!
Any plans for solar power in the future? Small cabins like this are ideal since its power intake is suitable for the amount of power the panels can generate during the day!

your dad is great! Glad you were able to persuade him to appear in the video
Your dad is so cool
I could do quarantine in that cabin. A few books and I'd be set. Congratulations to your Dad on building such a beautiful cabin.
The tip about adding ash to the outhouse is genuinely great! I’ll be passing it along to some friends that it will be relevant to 🙂
That’s great! Glad it was helpful!
Dad is very sweet and does great work!
I am in love with this tiny house! I believe that The Capable Carpenter would love love love your Dad - Thank you for sharing this - I am starting to understand more and more about our footprint on this earth.
This is probably one of the coolest cabins I have seen in a TH-cam video. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you liked it!

Yes! Love this idea!
The shots in this video are AMAZING. Great filmmaking and photography! Nice composition, good editing. Great job overall!
Watching this gave me an overwhelming sense of happiness. Thank you :)
I enjoyed this video, and your dad's wisdom.
As a fellow WW1 enthusiast, I found that US entrenching tool in the back super tight. Your dad is sick!
Your dads so awesome... Looks like his such a fun person.

Love the way your dad say: "Plastic" 🤣
Your dad is precious.
Love that foundation! Nothing as good as a good foundation.
Love that your Dad is so “crunchie”
So..Zen
Your dad is precious
a slightly different video from what I was expecting, still pleasantly surprised!

Officially of the UK, but I think Canada is still part of the UK.
Wow! The outhouse is a plus. If you ran out of toilet paper just open the half front door and grab some leaves 😊
oh my gosh, all the wood and the handiwork is just sooo beautiful...👍👍👍
Wow! Your Dad does beautiful work! I love the cabin!
omg that’s such a vibe 💙
Everything looks very nice & that outhouse is adorable wood work, I love it!
