The element logo is so genius. Its my favorite one for sure. The bottom half circle represents the ground. The top half divided into four representing the atmosphere. The whole circle is the seed being planted and nurtured and the tree grows from it in the center. Such an awesome design.
I use to love the Enjoi logo and there boards. Every other company would try to make these big all over print decks and enjoi would keep it simply with a medium size panda logo right under/near the trucks. The simply look was clean!
Flameboy vs Wet Willy is so nostalgic to me, I remember one of my brothers showing me the World Industries or Flameboy vs Wet Willy site back then. I'm bummed out that my parents didn't want me skating WITH my brothers. At least THPS was hella fun.

It was popular around where I grew up because a local skate shop used a slightly altered version for their logo: Hogtown. Hogtown was an old nickname for Toronto as it was once known for all the pork processing back in the 1920s. Hogtown was definitely the place to go for skaters in the 80s/90s.
That’s rad! I’ve never skated TO but it’s on my list! Our manager is from just outside Toronto (Port Perry). Always talking about a trip out that way, lots of great looking parks out there.
Had fun drawing most these logos but I’m most proud of the original Toy Machine logo I made by cutting and soldering metal in my 3D Art class. Kids did that then. Also, thanks “Cease and Desist” for all the influences on logos. That guy serves and deserves credit.
Have been around skating for 30+ years, I always Judge quality of art by what people outside of that art circle think, I will never forget seeing average people put Powell stickers on car windows just because they liked the art- It said a lot about how Powell got it right, now every Honda bundy has a thrasher t-shirt and scooter kids all have santa cruz socks
I'm disappointed to not find anyone in the comments talking up osiris. As someone who never skated the one thing that made me want to try were those amazing osiris shoes. I still think a stuffed pair of osiris shoes is one of the coolest things to come from the skateboarding world.

I actually just met some guys from the Toy Machine and Foundation skate teams a few weeks ago at a demo they did Skateboarding has impacted my life so much that about 4 years ago I started my own skateboard company called Galaxy Skateboards and am pleased to say that I have the honor of doing that full time now too
The Real oval is taken from the 49ers. They wanted to give the brand a connection to their city. Look at the Tommy Guerrero oval, one of their first graphics, and TG is arranged the same as SF.
I remember being in middle school & playing around with the fonts in Microsoft word. I was so geeked up when I found the Thrasher font lmaooo good times

I was talking to Brian Sumner a while back about ADIO shoes and he was telling me how Jamie Thomas designed the ADIO logo while they were hanging out in a garage. Man, I miss ADIO shoes :(
@Adio 882 i skated in Adios from 2004 till 2011. When it became almost impossible to find i would buy a size bigger or a size smaller, (whatever the shops had left) just so i could keep skating in them. Then when they were completely gone, i had to try and find a replacement.. but no other shoe will ever feel as great as Adio. i think the closest ones to Adio that I've skated in are the ES Accel OG and ES Cessna.. Probably just ES in general but i doubt any other shoe will ever feel as great as ADIO. indeed something special about those shoes that makes you love them

you should talk about the Thunder trucks logo. i recently learned that it was created by Jef Whitehead, who is the one man black metal band, Leviathan. he also used to be a pro skateboarder and made the logo and Thunder bought it from him for dollars. he has the logo tattooed on his chest. pretty interesting.
Indy & Anti Hero have the best logos in my opinion! The Cross for Indy and particularly for AH the Eagle always screamed ‘heavy biker gang’ which is always cool.

I agree in the sense I would never buy any Nike gear. But there is one positive to them gaining some traction in the industry and that's a whole lot of skaters now have gotten a whole lot more exposure and I'm sure in many cases it's allowed guys and gals who are wicked skaters to be able to have a career that IS skateboarding and not working a 9-5 to support their skateboarding. If the big brands allow more skaters to make a living skating then I'll look the other way. It's worth it.

I read years and years ago that the Volcom logo came from a Geology Textbook but I never took it for an upside down diamond, I thought it was a ventifact - a desert stone shaped by the sandblasting of wind in a consistent direction creating a smooth triangular profile in the direction the wind is coming from and a steeper smaller triangle on it's other side as the sandy wind is going more slowly.
Personally I thought Alva did the same thing across all their boards but were way more cool (and better quality) than the Bones Brigade. (Remember Bonite! lol..that nearly destroyed Powell). But yeah....there is no doubt that Powell were the biggest company. Their neon designs and somewhat cartoonish look had the widest appeal.
Kevin Ancell and Natas designed the original Natas Kaupas Panther graphic Santa Monica Airlines. Then a completely remake by Jim Phillips in 1987. The inspiration was a 1972 oil painting from Frank Frazetta. Dogtown, Wes Humpston the O.G. of graphics since the 70s. Legends.
That Tony Hawk logo and Mike McGill logo really impacted me as a kid skater. Even the Caballero and Lance mountain. All the Powell logos were intriguing as a kid
One thing I found out about shake junt is that most folks in the south refer to the strip clubs as a “shake joint” when talking in slang with southern accent it sounds like shake junt!!
Wow I never realized the Alltimers logo was based off the Sears logo but I guess it makes sense bc I haven't seen a Sears logo in over a decade LOL. Always thought it looked familiar. Incredibly nostalgic for canadians old enough to remember.

That Tony Hawk logo and Mike McGill logo really impacted me as a kid skater. Even the Caballero and Lance mountain. All the Powell logos were intriguing as a kid

Wow I never realized the Alltimers logo was based off the Sears logo but I guess it makes sense bc I haven't seen a Sears logo in over a decade LOL. Always thought it looked familiar. Incredibly nostalgic for canadians old enough to remember.
