Hard to measure the contribution Jimmy Page has made to popular music. Songwriter, producer, visionary, guitarist. Played as session musician for more than 600 songs of all genres, then earned rock and roll HOF status as a member of the Yardbirds. As if that wasn't enough, he followed that up as the creator of Led Zeppelin, and is now the caretaker of their legacy. Happy 80th, Jimmy....you've inspired untold tens of thousands of musicians and music lovers with your talent.

One of my very favorite songs. First lyrics Robert Plant wrote for Led Zeppelin. It’s a love song for his wife Maureen. She supported him while he was trying to become a singer. She was a nurse. They married in 1968 after one of their first gigs as Led Zeppelin. If anyone is singing with him it’s Jimmy Page. It was used in many marriage ceremonies in the 1970’s. I appreciate that you let the outro finish. Many reactors cut it off before the fade back in.

Today is Jimmy's 80th birthday so happy birthday to him! I'm glad you're beginning to ascribe your personal feelings with the music; doing so will give you many many layers from which to draw when you look for a song to match a feeling in the future. The only limit of appreciation is what you place on it yourself. Robert wrote this song for his wife and it was the first Zep song he wrote primarily himself. Jimmy had the "little drops of rain..." section and harmonizes with Robert on it. The rest didn't often sing with Robert but there are a few songs. This song has a rare acoustic solo from Jimmy and the fade out/in was an echo of the guitar and organ. If you want to hear Jimmy sing, he only did so on one song he recorded before creating Zeppelin called "She Just Satisfies" (you can find it on YT). He wrote and produced the single and plays all the instruments except drums. FYI, for the next song, Heartbreaker, a lot of people say to play Heartbreaker and Living Loving Maid back to back because that's how radio stations play them. Jimmy Page himself didn't like that stations did that, so I hold the less popular opinion to do them separately as originally intended.

I don't care for the song either, but that's the way most everyone are used to hearing it, however on one of my flash drives that has Zeppelin music, I do not include Livin' Lovin' Maid on it, but if you're gonna listen to it, having Heartbreaker as part of it helps get through it lol

@@juliemanarin4127 Yep, although when Page did sing backup in concert, the cameras didn't always pick that up. But you can see from a lot of footage that Page often had a microphone set up in front of him so that he could do so if he chose to.
Edit: For example, this bootleg of a 1975 Seattle performance does pick up shots of Page singing backup during Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp. Not the best quality, but that's often the case with bootlegs. ;) th-cam.com/video/4k1bBJ7OF4M/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=DarioRomero%E2%80%99sRemasteredConcerts

I dug your "vision" of how a movie might use this song, lol. I could see that. To their credit, Zeppelin was quite stingy about letting anyone use their music in movies or commercials, despite the obvious huge payday. "Almost Famous" is a really great movie you should see if you haven't, esp. since I think u said u were into how the whole history of 70's rock happened, the influences, the clothing, the vibe of it. That movie nails it, and nabbed (I think it was) FOUR Zep songs for the soundtrack! Random: I like JPJ's bass work on this tune!

Besides, they never played them back-to-back in concert. I believe the reason there isn't a longer pause between the two songs was due to space - they were limited on how much they could get on one side of an album but had just enough room to squeeze in one more song rather than waste that space.
