Gong , Honestly I liked this song more than Whole Lotta Love. Jimmy Page was actually switching 2 channels> (panning) Left & Right speakers . I believe Led Zeppelin was the first band to do this. They made FM radio get 2 channels to play this ! If you you love Bass guitar, you're gonna love the Lemon song
Totally get why you feel like you can't get enough. That's the way we felt when Led Zeppelin started dropping albums. Of course, we had the benefit of just setting the needle and letting it rip without interruption, but we weren't doing reactions on TH-cam, either. And I appreciate that you're also introducing this incredible music to many others who would have never considered listening to some old rock band from the 70s. They don't know what they've been missing, eh? lol Looking forward to the next reaction. "The Lemon Song" is one incredible blues-rock tune. Enjoy!
There a so many great songs by Led Zeppelin. For a real Bass treat try "Ramble On". For John Bonham's best drum groove try "Nobody's Fault But Mine", For some of Robert's best vocals try "Battle of Evermore", For Jimmy's versatility try "Gallows Pole", For all of the above try "Ten Years Gone". "Hey Hey What Can I Do "is a song Robert sings about a loose woman. Thanks to my big brother I knew who Jimmy Page was from his days in The Yardbirds and then when he formed LZ. When I was 14 in 1969 I got my first job washing dishes in the local diner working on the weekends. My first paycheck was $6.55 after taxes for 8 hours work. I spent it at the record store buying Led Zeppelin II and a Deep Purple album. Try "Highway Star" by Deep Purple for a kick ass high speed rock tune. Happy hunting. After discovering LZ you'll never be the same. Nobody is.
**Luvit** i was 8 & it was my older sis & ha ya are SO exactly right when ya say "After discovering **Led Zeppelin** you'll never be the same. Nobody is." Such a **Gift** for your mind & body man like well just **OtherworldlyGenius** **RockON!!**
Love this song. I grew up in 60s/70s. Music is my everything. I still have my Led Zeppelin pink casettes and Steely Dan, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Bad Co., etc. I've been to about 70 concerts. Went to 3 in 2019! I love all kinds of music. I was trained classically on piano. There are a lot of great bands during that time. The Allman Brothers are awesome. Their song Whipping Post is a good start.
A phasing effect was added to Robert's voice in production and this is one of the handful of songs where they all harmonize on the "oooh's". Bonzo used a gong to give that shimmering tone that you were trying to remember what it was called. Since Zep didn't have a rhythm guitarist to augment the lead guitar, Jimmy had to add it to either his playing or as an overdub later. He said Keith Richard once told him that he was getting a reputation as being one of the hardest working guitarists in the business because of Zep's single guitar approach. Jimmy said he did fleetingly consider using a second guitarist in concert but he said the fans know they're a 4-piece group so that's how they performed live. Plus, I can only imagine the potential can of worms that could open up - who do they get? Do they switch with every tour? Will they fit the band dynamic? Etc., etc., etc. Instead, what they opted was to only perform studio songs in concert if they could be modified so that they could be performed without the overdubs.
@@dannywachowski5880 According to two different sources, it was a phasing effect; however, we all know how things can *still* be wrong, so if you have better/different/more info, please share because I'm always looking to update the Zeppelin lore I share. 🙂
Robert Plant always wanted to play guitar But Jimmy would have nothing to do with that. It really could've been a whole new dynamic sound to the band though. It was Jimmy's way or the highway & Peter Grant backed Jimmy
Keep rocking Zeppelin, I’ve heard these songs so many times, but I can listen to them a million more. I love how much you are enjoying them, but they can do that to music lovers.
Led Zeppelin isn't just music, its a journey that takes us to places in our minds that we never knew existed. They feed my spirit and are my refuge and sanctuary. Pick a song, any song. No fillers when it comes to Zep
I always did like that pause where it sounds like the are in a dark tunnel , so surreal and trippy being at the end of the psychedelic era and these little strange nuances were thrown in .
I've always loved this song, and this is definitely one of my favorite albums. I don't know, I love them all so much, and they're all so different, hmm..it's hard to say..these bluesy ones are just so insanely good though. I really can't wait for you to hear the next one, get ready! 😁
One of my all-time favorite Rock songs by Led Zeppelin on one of my all-time favorite albums from Led Zeppelin. You are going to REALLY like the song filled with Rock and Roll Jazz and R & B.
Cool reaction. When I was in my apprenticeship as a Zeppelin fanatic, circa 1978/8th grade, this was one of my go-to's on my cassette tape collection.I kind of lived on Zep I and II for my first year or som as a fan, then gradually realized ALL the albums were amazing, started joyfully discovering the nooks-and-crannies of each. I smile enviously cos u have yet to hear, for ex., "Heartbreaker" off this album. And its iconic guitar solo, and the fury that is unleashed right after, lol! And yet, the soft beauty of "Thank You" as well!

Out of curiosity I looked to see the price of their tickets 1973 Madison Square Gardens, it was $7.50, $7.50 for 3 to 4 hours of these rock gods. I know they played a few concerts near when where I lived in Miami, those concerts were $4.00, sadly I was to young to go. Prices for tickets today, certainly aren’t worth it, nobody preforming is worth what tickets are now. At least Zeppelin’s manager got it to where they got 90% of ticket sales, first band to get that, otherwise they’d have gotten 10%. Page also got creative control over editing & producing their music, the first or if not a rare thing.
@@emilymartinez6961 sadly I didn’t get to see Led Zeppelin, but I saw many bands in the mid 70’s, almost every weekend. Exactly! Richard's told Jimmy to hire another guitarist...Jimmy said...Then we wouldn't be Led Zeppelin!

Robert Plant. He changes his vocal delivery, texture and tone in every song. Nobody, except maybe McCartney, did this on this level.

Hmmm , Jimmy Page hated Living Loving Maid (She's just a woman) he called it a filler song , Which they never played live
After Heartbreaker 💔

The effect on Robert's voice was the new "compression" feature in the studio. As their career advanced, Robert learned to love this effect, allowing him to go from whisper to scream without distorting his voice.
As the song progresses, There is also some reverb added to his voice for the singing in a large hall, type effect.
John Bonham has a bunch of crash cymbals and a "gong". That is most likely what you are referencing. The gong is the big crash.
I remember playing LZ I and II (and III) on my funky little record player. Still sounded great. What you heard is a gong.
