Great video! I'm glad split step is getting very famous at volleyball world, instead of the classic: "stay still" that has been teached before. I already use it by a very long time and it's a big difference, i've learned a lot from Dustin Watten, currently i'm trying to get the tier 4 of split step, where you land with just one foot and push.
The best split step i have ever seen is from Sergio (BRA), he was so aggressive with the split step that he could easily travel more than half the court to pass a serve.
What are the qualities that scouts for the nationional team look for in a player ages 15-17?(as an opposite hitter) What do i need to stand out with the exception of height
It's mostly height as if you are young enough they will try to teach you the basics. When you are tall enough, you dont even have to pass perfectly as you are able to make up your weakness with your offensive prowess. On the other hand if you are shorter than 2 meters, you have to stand out with your defensive abilities like passing and digging and attack technique to avoid block as you will be perceived as the "defensive" hitter.
Depends on age but usually after the age of 14 162 is too short for an outside but if your spike reach is the same as the taller outside hitters and recieve well then you're alright
