Thanks for watching! I'm excited to have finally gotten to talk about Samurai. More Cyberpunk stuff is on the way as well. I've been trying to do more variety of content on the channel, but there's still so much to talk about, let it be known I haven't forgotten >:)
this band and Johnny's passion for music made me pick up the guitar, thanks for this deep lore, though i would like to know more about Johnny's music influences and how he learn the guitar
Great video! Also the story of when they first got signed made me laugh. -They play a gig -afterwards a guy comes up to them and says "you were great" -denny picks up a chair to beat him to shit with I guess night city really is ruthless hahaha
It's funny how a fictional band brought so much change; not just in the world of cyberpunk but also to people in real life. I had a pretty bleak outlook on life in recent months, but listening to these songs (courtesy of Refused - you guys got a new fan) and experiencing the sisyphean struggle of the characters in the game actually gave me hope about the future and strength to make real change in my, and possibly other's, life.
This series defiantely has a way of changing people's outlook. I found Cyberpunk after "I Really Wanna Stay at Your House" came on while I was listening to music at a tech job I hated while in college. From there, I watched Edgerunners, and played the game and similarly to what you say, it really changed how I saw my experience at that point for the better. Thanks for sharing, and I'm glad you're loving Chrome Rock, Choomba!
Listening to Samurai in 2077 is like listening to a 60s band now. Kind of appropriate with the counterculture of that decade. Was Paul MCartney in a band before Wings?
I’m going to say the reason there’s inconsistency in the album’s is like you said, partially the Datakrash. And we are talking about a universe where a corp will pick up anything and give it a polish before flooding the market with millions of copies. Not really taking the time to do research. The other band mates that were still alive were either uninterested or not reached out to for information. And companies release greatest hits collections all the time of artists who had their heyday and big hit before someone else took the spotlight. As for their short lived career. I’d say, mission accomplished? The goal in night city is not to live forever, but to immortalize yourself with your actions that get around by word of mouth and even 70 years later they’re damn music is still being played. I personally listen to stuff from the 70’s and I’m only 28. And even now in our own world classical music that was written centuries ago is still being played to this day (I like Bach’s work most but to each their own)
Surprised the band wasn't called Ronin or something.... since Samurai is associated with servitude......... and it's a band full of edgy-ass rebels lol.
Westerners think the label Ronin is cool because it reminds them of rebellious, masterless samurai, while in modern-day Japan the meaning of the word Ronin has shifted to "unemployed" or "homeless."
@@remc0sbecause in the west the word is associated with it's meaning back when it meant that not the modern day version. Do you not understand how that works or are you just one of those people who literally take everything at face value
In a few years I think your going to be well within the high thousands of subs. A year or two later i can easily see you amassing +100k subs. You put in an insane amount of effort and I truly hope it pays off for you mate.
Could you do a video on Andrew Weyland? I feel like we hear his name so much yet there's no in game or that many lore videos talking about him. Jackie talks about him, and we even get to see his son in game, I feel like he'd be a good character to cover next
Absolutely. I've been thinking about it for Awhile. Truth be told, I have been putting it off because much of the material relating to him is both older and needs to be found in sourcebooks manually, but we will get there! :)
Kerry being literally like 65 years old in 2077 still messes with my head. Also the fact that jorinobu is 82 and saburo was like "with this young body I'll be immortal". Also if Jackie died a liiittle bit sooner, with the Chip still implanted, it would work as designed and Johnny would take over jackies brain, no? The game would be about V's wacky adventures with his sidekick Johnny Silverhand in V's best friend's body. Also dex would shoot them in the face 1 minute later. I guess it might be for the best, it would have been really awkward when V and Jackie's corpse, now controlled by Osama bin laden have to break the news to his mom, that her son died. Anyways, did think the same thing about kerry looking a bit like young hendrix. I wish old hendrix ever became a thing, but that's the way it goes sometimes
There are points where Cyberpunk lore sort of overlaps with real-life in odd ways. For example, the soviet-union existed and had a fall just like our own world, things like that. Seems like it's just one of those times when Pondsmith wrote something into the lore that incorporates elements of the real world.
There's a fictional band in the lore of the (horrendous) Watchmen tv show named "The Sons of Pale Horse", who off course named themselves after the original band Pale Horse, who died at Madison Square Garden during the psychic squid attack in 1985. They rage quit after the release of their album "The Book of Rorschach", which based its songs on certain entries from Rorschach's journal and was meant to ridicule Rorschach's worldview, ironically reached cult status amongst people who actually shared Rorschach's bleak outlook on life. This mirrors how Alan Moore hates Rorschach fans, because "they are not supposed to like him" 😂

"Samurai was completely over after their second album." (or something like that.)
--Songbird
Pretty much. The third album would have almost certainly been after the Nancy Heartley scandal.
Baby, wake up. New Everberon video about Cyberpunk dropped.
Your Cyberpunk lore videos are always worth the wait!
Thank you! Glad you're liking them!

As would I. What I had in the video was everything on the matter I was able to discern. I hope we get to learn more in future content though!
Great video! Also the story of when they first got signed made me laugh.

Didn't know you did cyberpunk lore, definitely sticking around

Johnny is what you get if you combined "Fat Mike" from NOFX and the Star Wars character "Cassian Andor".
This guy deserves a million subs. Keep up the awesome videos. The subs will come for sure
Your lore videos got me through so many chores lmao and keeping me sane on times when life gets absurd , great work!!!
Thank you haha

Did you watch the video? It was an ironic name
umm… who’s gonna tell bro
bro watched the video on mute with the screen off

Thank you! Heres hoping. It would be great to make these videos full time :)

Is it just me or is Kerry’s 2020 model a young Jimi Hendrix
Absolutely. It reminded me of Hendrix as well

Great video. Thanks for clearing up the confusion with dates😅
Don’t know if I’m misunderstanding something but how was Johnny Silverhand biggest influence a real life artist?

Awesome video!!!
Thanks!!
Samantha Stevens discovering her cancer and sending Lilia with the crate was in 2037 or 2038. it's in the Red Corebook.
i just want refused to finish the samurai albums.
Same
Best band ever

Wouldn’t finding the date when Arasaka kidnapped Alt help with the understanding of the time period?
You’ve got fallout TH-camr voice
Is this when I'm supposed to say first?
It is indeed. Well done 😎
Well done, young one. This ancient unspoken rule must always be followed, it is of great importance to our people.
