You have to remember, before the game Metroid other M, she never talks so yeah I’m guessing this is cannon since she has done nothing but train her entire life because ya know, her parents were killed when she was 3.
It’s called shine sparking. Your speed booster allows for you to keep the boost if you crouch from a boost. So what he does is shoots the ledge as he’s wall jumping to maintain the boost.
I love the cutscene cut to the game signifying that Samus has beaten Ridley, then the immidiate cut back to Ridley still getting his ass kicked and screaming

This was my first Metroid game ever, and one of my first games ever. I played this game so damn much. it had so much mystery and exploration, I would look at every room and wonder what connection it had to the rest of the planet. Took me like 3 years to beat the game. (I was like 6-7 or something :). Hell, took me months just to get past that first mini-boss worm guy that comes out of the ceiling because it terrified me.) I didn’t have too many videogames, which helped cause me to spend a TON of time on this one. I even discovered morph ball bomb jumping by myself lol.

Sure, in a speedrun it isn't useful, but in the actual game it allows for an early-game equivalent of the screw attack powerful enough to one-hit many tougher enemies. In addition to that, it allows for missile conservation and it is a way to damage bosses if you aren't playing well and run out mid-fight. I understand you have an opinion, but i would like to hear the reasoning behind it.

I'm a little disappointed the layouts weren't a little more faithful to the original game, but it's got a lot of cool stuff in it. Can't wait for Metroid Dread in October though!! Edit: Dread is amazing

It's a TAS (Tool Assisted Speedrun) To put it simple, it's when somebody goes into an emulator where they can use a variety of tools like savestates, rewind and slow-motion to create the theoretical perfect inputs.

I used to to beat the game on a weekly basis for the bus ride home. My best record was when there was traffic and the bus ride home took just over an hour. I started the game as soon as I sat down and beat meta Ridley as I got up… kids complained how it was the longest bus ride ever, but to me it was literally the fastest. I’m so glad it’s coming back to the Switch and show off to my son.

Are you familiar with TAZ? It's a computer program basically. It's a computer finding the fastest possible way to complete the mission. Still pretty cool. I watch them all the time.

I guess now people can hook up different hacks that give them different abilities. I'm convinced this one is definitely a computer but you never know.
