Old Turkish Village Houses Made From Natural Stones Are Disappearing

  • Old village houses are slowly disappearing, time to check them out. Some of them were still occupied until thirty years ago. Its must have been hard on the women to live there with several children and all the work they had to do. Making their own cheese, yogurt and butter. Plus growing vegetables and looking after livestock. As a foreigner living in a small village in Turkey life is one big adventure.

    Standard design of 2 rooms and a veranda ; most time spent outside of house....resembling how these people were productive; no living without producing your own food....nice and precious old times!

    This is wonderful, if a little sad. I’ve been documenting life in a small Croatian village for the past ten years, including many abandoned wooden houses, so this film resonated very well with me. So glad you are filming all of this.

    Good morning! Another fantastic trip into the land of old ruins. I visited one yesterday on one of my Staffordshire walks about 10 miles from my home. Really enjoy your take on old buildings and olive presses etc. We are all getting older and I wonder what I will become but we have to keep going and maybe we will get there. My father is 91 next month. He is practically blind and deaf . Also had dementia. I help my mother to look after him. My escape is to walk the hills and trails nearby. In your last vlog you are struggling but please keep going. Tooo many of your fans would miss you, you help to keep us going with you wonderful good morning saying and more ❤

    These houses are amazing!
    I'm looking for inspirations to make my own adobe house, kinda Spanish colonial-era-styled, and as crazy as it sounds, I'm really thinking into making it a single-room, quite literally a roof and four walls.

    • @AtHomeInTurkey
      @AtHomeInTurkey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sounds great but I would always want a seperate place to sleep in. If only that I don't want to see the bed and clothing in my living space. I would love a house with two parts under one roof and a empty space in between the rooms. So the rooms face each other under one roof. Good for wet stuff in winter and like a tunnel for air in the summer. But I have a house so that won't happen. Succes with yours.

    My family had a house like them, actually it was much bigger, but we decided to sell it. It is still quite useable but the main reason that the house was build is to provide us a place to stay during the cherry harvest. Nowadays, we can’t earn anything by farming and mom has quite limited days of holiday because of her job. I do think that the reason for the houses to disappear is similar with my family’s. I can’t blame anybody but our heritage is disappering anyway.

      Geen idee hoe oud ze zijn maar de laatsten trokken er zo'n 20 a 30 jaar geleden uit. Turken bouwen een nieuw huis voor elke generatie. Ouders blijven er wonen tot ze stervern en daarna gaan meestal de koeien erin. Nu huren hier ook populair geworden is veranderen die dingen. Toen ik hier kwam woonde er nog een man van in de 90 in zo'n huis, nu 20 jaar geleden.
