  • Hi Creators,
    Have you ever looked at a 3D model and wondered how they kept it so low poly but the model has so much detail? It's probably the normal maps! In this video tutorial, we will go over how to bake a normal map using Substance Painter. We'll be using tools like baking, objs, and so much more.
    Let's get started!
    Software Used: Maya 2022, Substance Painter

    You saved my life...Substance was driving me nuts for not doing my normal maps. The clue to match die transform of both object did the trick. THX! :)

    Damn it! Every signal video I find shows a window with options when they click “bake mesh maps” but when I click it I get a cage that’s all messed up and I can’t find the reset button or the bake button. IDK What the hell I’m looking at. It kinda looks like 3D max settings a little but I still can’t work the cage!

    Thanks, great tutorial! I have a question, for example if I wanted to have the hole or the beveled areas to be colored or textured differently, as I have a pattern and I don't want to color them manually, how can I do that? should I export the pattern alone and then add the new Normal maps on a separate shader and then change the colors? would that work or is there a better way?

    Hey, tanks for the tutorial ! Any tips on how to do a correct uv map to not get seams on every faces ? I'm trying to wrap my head around my problem, but my brain is overflowing x) My object is a bit more complex than a barrel, so I don't know if it's because of that that I have these damned seams :/ I know it's because it give a gradient on each face, and so there's a mismatch between each sides of an edge, but I can't separate every faces, or I'll become crazy x)

    Is it same for zbrush

    • @AcademicPhoenixPlus
      @AcademicPhoenixPlus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, ZBrush can bake normals. Or you can take the exported zbrush model, and use it to bake normals in Substance Painter. :)

    I think your Low Poly barrel is not low poly game asset. No optimized and no triangulated.
