I agree with the Battlepass 100%. I took one look at it and thought "There's no exclusive rewards and town points are worthless since all the new skins and pets are being added to the cauldron, so why would I ever purchase this?" Even from the standpoint of making money, it was just poorly thought out to begin with. There's at least one player I know of who has BOTH legendary skins AND all the pets (they got the new moth girl on _day of release_ ), so it's unlikely the devs are going to dial back the pricing when there are already people who have shown they're willing to spend that kind of money, especially because then you'd get into that area of making the whales feel cheated for having spent more than other people at getting those same rare items. Unfortunately ToS2 has gone the way of a gacha and I really don't think there's any coming back from that.
@@Adagia It is a good game, just has a few problems such as unbalanced roles, playerbase that either plays badly or report you for anything, guardians, rolecards(it's a little bit toned now in the new update since you get 3 new roles to play as every week),microtransaction and ingame currency(gems, coin and roses. Literally you have to pay gold for custom games and gems for the premium one,I have the premium one but that's because I was gifted) And the thing I don't like is..sandbox players 🌚 But it's a decent game(the only good gamemode is crazy gamemodes, ranked and custom)
I'll be real; I've been VERY on/off of town of salem 2 for awhile recently, and while I knew the microtransactions were *bad*, the battlepass is probably gonna be a big "straw that breaks the camels back" for me. I had the tome because I was like "Man I sure do never get Jester, I'mma get this so I can roll Jester more often" and now just often set it to *some* generalized alignment, or a role that got tweaked and I wanted to see it first hand (Such as reworked Trickster/Socialite), but I'm worried eventually the battlepass is gonna do something really dumb like having some potential role get locked behind it or something. I've had my issues with TOS2 since release (Namely Seer prior to the "Town can kill 2/3 a lobby for free" dark ages that was Not Nerfed Marsh + Buffed Pros + Not Unique Deputy, then immediately back to Seer following that even with its nerfs just because I feel its very passive of just knowing 2 folks are enemies makes it way too easy for evils to cause mistrials for fake claiming it, and really if they're doing it they likely only need like 2-3 days anyways and if they're a dogshit role like Illu or Dreamweaver, well then that mistrial or two is more of an impact than their own passives anyways.) but the microtransactions are a bit too yucky for me to want to really continue playing, especially if it just starts getting worse from here which it likely might.
i hope tos doesn't die soon because alot of games mostly recently add alot of micros and battle pass and stuff like that before the game or servers gets shutdown or dies and is no longer being connected (edit: expecting nowadays)
I literally yapped about this yesterday in the discord… The devs barely do any work on the actual game. They literally just took the BTOS2 stuff and called it an update also, Did you hear about the Hat Drama, Adagia?
@@Adagia basically mods/devs thought hat (friend in the community) was organising smth against them. I dont remember the full deets but hat got banned and it was screwed up
@@Adagia since this is regarding myself i'll go ahead and chime in. i used to be a regular in the tos2 official discord as a huge fan of the game and the lore, but a couple months back i was banned with no explanation (i had to learn from my friends who were still in the discord). come to find out they were accusing me of "organized targeted harassment" against one of the mods (which i have since found out they had zero evidence for, the mod in question just *felt* like i was sending people to ask if she mews(?)) as well as a well-known (yet protected) creep in the community (who had made overtly sexual comments to minors and jokes about animal abuse, among other things). and considering their extremely lax (or no) punishments for doxxers (both in and out of the ranked community) and users who have dm'd kids hard gore... it's really bad! really bad.
The community views Classic as "the tutorial" even though it's an entirely different gamemode. So instead of making a tutorial, they added a battlepass. Yeah, that seems about right.
@@fangstars9226 Yep, I’m ftp other than when I initially bought the game so I never expected to have Tome of Fate then I got it from a regular cauldron pull
Literally all they had to do was make more bundles like the Pirate bundle in the store. A skin, a pet, and a house, for some real money. That's literally all they had to do. They didn't need to make a system that allows players to cheat at the game by paying money.
I went back to the game yesterday. I immediately closed the game after seeing the word, "battlepass" and its UI. Then, I uninstalled the game straightaway. Don't want to see no battlepass on a game I paid full price for.
thank you for making this video. bmg you dont need to do all this microtransaction nonsense if youre doing bad with money just sell firebug plushies and ill buy 500 of them
algorithm I guess brought me here as I don’t even really know this game but dear god that is a lot of micro transactions. How the hell do they expect new players to want to come into that.
So as a Destiny 2 player a big issue that game has (but has gotten better thank god) was overabundance of things, the overall cost to benefit is NOT the issue its how much there is is overwhelming, tons of things could be combined into 1 and then giving a slight price bump to offset its and by doing that you reduce the microtransactions by half and also make the player base feel less cheated. Also GL with your Surgery.
I’ve bought a couple offers in TOS1, mainly scroll ones that appear each day. For TOS2, all I got was the game and the $2 tome offer. I have no incentive to spend money on the cauldron for that “oh but its super rare” idea. Cool, a Nikki skin, and they turn into a moth like the one from TOS1. I don’t care to spend money to get this faster. The ONLY good thing I’ve gotten from cauldrons recently is some mythic witch scrolls. Locking boosted odds and faster tome progression to complete rng, then permitting players to reduce said rng for up to $35 by allowing more claims, or just straight up $10 for multiple claims at once, is devious. Something has to be done about this, or we’ll have Call of Salem 2, owned by BlankMediaVision.
I remember needing to shell out like I think $5 about a year ago because I stupidly put my username as my *real life name* and I wanna say it did *not* feel good needing to spend that money to change it.
The full game costs $5, there is absolutely no reason to pay double the cost of the game for anything. The tome of fate is basically the premium version which gives you priority picks. You can get plenty of points just by playing the game repeatedly, anything else is just a bonus for those who are genuinely so impatient.
ive only ever bought the tome of fate when it was in my daily deals (2.70 CAD for the tome and scrolls, not bad!) when my game updated and i saw a BATTLEPASS in town of salem i actually laughed
Honestly, I buy a few of the microtransactions to support the game and company itself. I don't want to see this game wither away, but I will agree. The amount of microtransactions thrown in your face is just unreal. It's really disgusting.
I took a small break from Town of Salem and come back to like 50 new ways to spend real money. It was like 1 month break tops. I'm pretty pissed. I hope they don't pull the TOS1 servers to shove more people into their microtransacton-ridden game. And when I saw a battle pass my jaw just fucking dropped and I was like 'no actually fuck this game'.
Good luck on your surgery...i still can't fathom how tos2 is doing microtransactions...it's a sure fire way of making people not want to play the game anymore
Like why can't I use TP to buy most of these things? Then it'd be fine. But I hear ya, "They don't make money from that", they kinda do with people buying TP.
I personally think it's a bit much but at the same time, it's somewhat understandable, especially if the game isn't making much money and the devs dont have / cant get other jobs/gigs
When they released the game out of EA while the balance of the game was still bad, that was probably the most obvious sign the executives pulled a Mr. Krabs moment. Couple with the programmers letting the modders run the balancing now and it's clear all focus is put into creating monetary means by any means.
Side effect of going mobile? Real talk though, I hate to see BMG fall victim to the microtransaction trap for their cash cow but I guess here we are. If BMG continues to go down this path I see them tanking. Battle passes are a scam designed to trigger the sunken cost fallacy which increases exhaustion which leads to distain. On a lighter note, what do you think of the new splatoon season? Pretty sure the side order team is allowed to work on the actual game again.
Haven’t got a chance to play it a ton yet, but it looks pretty good. Bit light on content, and the weapons added don’t really suit my playstyle. I’m glad the people that do play them are happy though. I wish there was more communication regarding the content extension hell we’re in atm. AshBinary said there was data for Pearl & Marina’s Frostyfest outfits, so I have hope there at least. …where are you hiding my permanent inkbrush, Nintendo?

I wouldn't be upset if this was how the game was left, but there's a lot more that could be done. Hopefully I won't be left with the copium from not having a real tetras kit though.
I feel like the devs aren’t being intentionally greedy, they probably aren’t making any money. It’s a shame because I love this game and even though I only played 1 a couple months before 2 came out the difference is stark
Oh man. This is what helps me in tos1. Free merit points for playing, the cauldron, or achievements, and I only forked over a few dollars for the coven expansion cause it was the only micro transaction. Why is everyone becoming EA
Like you said idgaf if the skins, pets etc are micro transactions because idc about those stuff and the people who do can buy them, when it effects game play there’s a massive problem
Hot take maybe, but in my opinion the gameplay would've been better if the base game had been more expensive instead of this microtransaction bullcrap. I picked the game back up after months, and there were multiple games where people were cheating, throwing, and trolling, and when we told two teamers outed by a Wildling they'd be permabanned, they literally said "it was only 5 dollars anyway". No, I won't spend extra money so I can look better while my coven teammate messages the marshal who we are and we only win because the berserker disconnects and the coroner fakeclaims prosecutor. I'd much rather have spended money so I can actually play the game.
There are so many valid criticisms to make and this isn’t one of them. They’ve been working on mobile, read the Discord. They specifically took it down from the app store to deal with all the bugs
I'd like to make it very clear that the battlepass should be tipping anyone over the edge. They are a manipulative practice that should be filed right above lootboxes. The free pass exclusively exists to get you to purchase the paid one. Their existence is entirely predicated on FOMO by being timed, and their nature encourages really unhealthy playing behaviors. The fact that this got into the game indicates that either A: The devs are stupid and somehow were unaware of this or B: They simply do not care about their players. I can't tell which is worse.
DRG continues to be the _only_ game that does "Battle Passes" right, with it being free and only being cosmetic items. The only thing that you can purchase with real money is DLC (Which are just skins), and that's it. You make a one time purchase, and you're set for life.
The microtransactions are completely pointless in the game. The cauldron was fine before shoving all of this stupid stuff in it like the upgrade system (mythic scrolls are poop),the daily deals idrc for, and my god this game off all of them did not need a battlepass, when I saw that this game now has one it legit confused the hell out of me. The only thing I purchased was the Tome of Fate, which I'm still not entirely sure how it works. Tldr: Making the game available via the Epic Games store was a mistake.
I understand where that comment comes from but i think splatoon community is worse... (As a current member of it, + the comp side) Back to the video topic, i agree with your opinion on this. Though id keep all the cauldron potions in bc its not THAT bad.
yes its literally is too much especially w ith the new battle pass too ma n like i seriously dont want to have half of my screen covered with microtransactions
"free" You can only play a certain amount of games before being forced to either wait (X) amount of time or cough up money just to have unlimited access.
Adagia I fell this more then you as I'm a free to play to play player so i can't even play unlimited games I only get 5 keys and each key take 2 fricking hours to come back!
I really like town of salem as a whole, I played the game for atleast 5 years now, but the microtransactions in 2 is extremely overbearing, I don’t want to shill money for flummery that I will likely never use, scrolls were in an alright spot anyway why did they decide to make a weird system with mythic scrolls and the tome of fate?
when i first saw in the discord server a while back "tos battle pass"" i thought. You cant be serious. this is so awful. i did all i could to support the game hwen it was just tos1 because i loved the community and the game but man this is too much
while i dont particlarly mind the microtransactions, as TOS isnt exactly a very profitable game from my knowledge, especially with the lack of players at launch. I DO INFACT agree the scrolls and things that affect in game, are pretty scummy. Maybe a good way to work around it, would be to offer things like the tome of fate and blessed scrolls at an increased town point cost. or giving the tome of fate special designs or like, a skin associated for people who bought it. I'm one of the people who bought these things, so i cant say I'm necessarily "in the right", but I do wish i didnt have to do that so i dont get dreamweaver every match-
Hang on hang on hang on, did you say the Battlepass was 4.99USD a WEEK? That's too much to begin with. If people are willing to front up money to POSSIBLY get items (they may not make it to the tier they were hoping for), then the price on the BET (let's call it what it is) of getting there needs to come down. I understand they need to pay for servers for play, login, data, transactions and so forth, but the game was seemingly sustainable once it went to the F2P model, otherwise why would they have gone with it? So is this BMG just being greedy at this point due to a high popularity in the game brought on by creators and personalities such as Adagia, Pipe, Mimyuu etc, or is it now that, with more players joining since it was released on Epic, that cost of infrastructure has increased to such a point they need this WEEKLY income just to survive?
another thing to make point of is that the devs deserve to get paid for their work, and if microtransactions get them paid then whats the problem? those of US, and yes i mean us, who DONT like it, just dont buy it! they need to get paid for keeping up the servers and keep making changes to the game, something they werent getting from the $10 price point.
I miss when the game first came out, where there was no micros at all. I thought we were setting a new standard compared to TOS 1. I am incredibly disappointed with how its turned out. I am probably dropping TOS 2 until it reduces. Truly sad.
Well... this was pretty much expected after they stuffed their game with enough microtransactions to make the average shoddy roblox game blush.
Eh Roblox micro transactions would be more like pay x City points and kill a second player n1, or kill n1 as berz

I love town of Salem and I agree with this, Its not that bad yet but once it gets really bad I think I might fully stop playing or not play as much as I used to
@@bobbywednesday8944 That's also not taking into account the fact that the devs have *suspiciously* gone radio silent after the much deserved backlash from the community.
Funny, that.
I would buy this game if it was 20-30$ but, I won't give a single damn cent to those scrolls and skins.
i just going to play ranked, i feel like bmg is doing a good job tough, considering how the other social deduction games died in steam
wheres the video adagia.. I WANT IT NOW!!!!
Im a sucker for these. I was about to purchase arcane cauldron but stopped myself to add your creator code beforehand. hopefully this helps you abit. I know im part of the problem. But. I just binged your stuff and feel you deserve what you can
I agree with the Battlepass 100%.
Well hopefully your surgery goes well
It's time we revived Throne of Lies
I’ve been hearing people talking about Wolvesville as a ToS alternative as opposed to ToL since it has a larger active playerbase atm
@@Adagia I guess I'll look into that as an alternative.
@@Adagia
It is a good game, just has a few problems such as unbalanced roles, playerbase that either plays badly or report you for anything, guardians, rolecards(it's a little bit toned now in the new update since you get 3 new roles to play as every week),microtransaction and ingame currency(gems, coin and roses. Literally you have to pay gold for custom games and gems for the premium one,I have the premium one but that's because I was gifted)
And the thing I don't like is..sandbox players 🌚
But it's a decent game(the only good gamemode is crazy gamemodes, ranked and custom)
wolvesville is atrocious you shouldnt play that ☠
@@DojBro I like the game lol
But I agree
I second this opinion. Though I've been on this train since like February.
Guys its okay because i will make a new town of salem
Good luck on your surgery
I literally yapped about this yesterday in the discord…
The devs barely do any work on the actual game. They literally just took the BTOS2 stuff and called it an update
also, Did you hear about the Hat Drama, Adagia?
The what 😭😭😭
@@Adagia basically mods/devs thought hat (friend in the community) was organising smth against them. I dont remember the full deets but hat got banned and it was screwed up
@@Adagia since this is regarding myself i'll go ahead and chime in. i used to be a regular in the tos2 official discord as a huge fan of the game and the lore, but a couple months back i was banned with no explanation (i had to learn from my friends who were still in the discord). come to find out they were accusing me of "organized targeted harassment" against one of the mods (which i have since found out they had zero evidence for, the mod in question just *felt* like i was sending people to ask if she mews(?)) as well as a well-known (yet protected) creep in the community (who had made overtly sexual comments to minors and jokes about animal abuse, among other things). and considering their extremely lax (or no) punishments for doxxers (both in and out of the ranked community) and users who have dm'd kids hard gore... it's really bad! really bad.
@@hattiekid What the fuck.
The community views Classic as "the tutorial" even though it's an entirely different gamemode. So instead of making a tutorial, they added a battlepass. Yeah, that seems about right.
What a coincidence, my mom just had surgery a few days ago!
I wish you well on your recovery.
Fyi Tome of Fate can be obtained through the cauldron, I did and I was SHOCKED since its supposed to be bought
Wait what?1?1??1
@@fangstars9226 Yep, I’m ftp other than when I initially bought the game so I never expected to have Tome of Fate then I got it from a regular cauldron pull
I suppose that’s what happens if you get necronomicon of fate without owning the tome
They layed off so many people wow
Literally all they had to do was make more bundles like the Pirate bundle in the store. A skin, a pet, and a house, for some real money. That's literally all they had to do. They didn't need to make a system that allows players to cheat at the game by paying money.
How long until they add new roles that are completely paywalled
Hope your surgery goes well!
Same here!
I went back to the game yesterday. I immediately closed the game after seeing the word, "battlepass" and its UI. Then, I uninstalled the game straightaway. Don't want to see no battlepass on a game I paid full price for.

How come tos2 mobile after the recent update became broken, and now it isn’t even on the AppStore anymore.
this bit is bc they have to wait for app store approval, i hear theyre trying to fix it
algorithm I guess brought me here as I don’t even really know this game but dear god that is a lot of micro transactions. How the hell do they expect new players to want to come into that.
Thank you for your support, my non-Town of Salem-playing friend
You know its serious when adagia post a video about it
So as a Destiny 2 player a big issue that game has (but has gotten better thank god) was overabundance of things, the overall cost to benefit is NOT the issue its how much there is is overwhelming, tons of things could be combined into 1 and then giving a slight price bump to offset its and by doing that you reduce the microtransactions by half and also make the player base feel less cheated.
Also GL with your Surgery.
Also as a d2 player who plays tos 1 and tos 2 i am very upset about tos 2 taking this route to
I’ve bought a couple offers in TOS1, mainly scroll ones that appear each day.
I just recommend Tome of Fate and that's it for your purchase
@fangstars9226 I don't even suggest that tbh, even without scrolls you can get roles plenty enough if you're okay with it.
why is it that the salem "premium track" literally gives you just scrolls like this is just ridiculous at this point lmao
Because they dont wanna lock cosmetics behind a paywall
@@Silentlib well uhmmm i think they did just that-
2 sk and a med game in a row, do I have bad luck? Tos1 btw CAA
Take care of yourself, Adagia ^^
ive only ever bought the tome of fate when it was in my daily deals (2.70 CAD for the tome and scrolls, not bad!)
when my game updated and i saw a BATTLEPASS in town of salem i actually laughed
a town of salem battlepass is crazy 😭
Not pets and exclusive skins being here again
I personally think it's a bit much but at the same time, it's somewhat understandable, especially if the game isn't making much money and the devs dont have / cant get other jobs/gigs
When they released the game out of EA while the balance of the game was still bad, that was probably the most obvious sign the executives pulled a Mr. Krabs moment. Couple with the programmers letting the modders run the balancing now and it's clear all focus is put into creating monetary means by any means.
I bought this game on day 1 and haven't touched it, honestly is it worth bothering or no?
YESSS JOIN THE SPLATOON COMMUNITY

@@Adagiac'mon we wanna see the adagia cancellation arc

Good luck with your surgery❤
Can we talk about how they introduced battlepass yet mobile version is still completely broken and unplayable?
There are so many valid criticisms to make and this isn’t one of them. They’ve been working on mobile, read the Discord. They specifically took it down from the app store to deal with all the bugs
@@DespOIcito so instead of properly testing their game they added a battlepass
sounds like valid criticism
Basically wolvesville 🌚
adagadiga upload?!??
I forgot theres creator codes whoops
Blegh, way to kill a fun expeirence.
The fact that this got into the game indicates that either
A: The devs are stupid and somehow were unaware of this
or
B: They simply do not care about their players.
3:30 skill issue i mythic scroll dreamweaver not an issue
f2p players rise up
is f2p players still locked to that 5 games per day thing or is the deed to the town ultimately useless?
I understand where that comment comes from but i think splatoon community is worse... (As a current member of it, + the comp side)
Back to the video topic, i agree with your opinion on this. Though id keep all the cauldron potions in bc its not THAT bad.
yes its literally is too much especially w ith the new battle pass too ma n
like i seriously dont want to have half of my screen covered with microtransactions
I like the battle pass tho now i can finnaly get scrolls f2p (i dont have deed to the town)
I am honestly fine with tome of fate. But it should cost Town points to get, it would be fine if it didn't cost real money.
Every role is fun tbh I don't see the appeal of scrolls other than I guess achievement hunting
town point multiplier is just becoming less useful with every new microtransaction having more value than it
But TOS2 went free to play
"free"
You can only play a certain amount of games before being forced to either wait (X) amount of time or cough up money just to have unlimited access.
I'm one of the people who bought these things, so i cant say I'm necessarily "in the right", but I do wish i didnt have to do that so i dont get dreamweaver every match-
Right, i agree with you. this is also my take
Hang on hang on hang on, did you say the Battlepass was 4.99USD a WEEK?
F2P models are never sustainable and flood a culture with ipad babies, poverty prowlers, and hackers
another thing to make point of is that the devs deserve to get paid for their work, and if microtransactions get them paid then whats the problem? those of US, and yes i mean us, who DONT like it, just dont buy it! they need to get paid for keeping up the servers and keep making changes to the game, something they werent getting from the $10 price point.
I've solved that problem by not playing anymore.
Mood lol, I did that too when they got rid of anon mode
@@Adagia is it back?
