First beaver to see the blueprint-ghosts of the barracks: "Lord Skye has answered our prayers! No more sleeping on the lumpy ground!" _And there was much rejoicing._
I do think having floodgates set to 0.95m to act as overflow that were just left and untouched is a good idea keeps the reservoirs from ever truly overflowing, but better than regular damns at their 0.65 height and keeps the upper overflow you mentioned at 16:45 from ever leaking out too much, *or* being overwhelmed from above with higher volumes of water then again, those will be swapped to sluice gate's eventually..... which... actually again pushed to have a better overflow system elsewhere that isn't a height dependant sluice which can waste, or a floodgates which you need to think about changing all the time
i bet he doesn't know or forgot about mangrooves as this is an "Iron Teeth" exclusive resource and he's been playing the other faction for about 2 months.
Ok, Skye, two things: 1. Why build normal bridges, when you could build beaver bridges. You can easily see that like it! Beaver likes to be wet! 2. You have a single row strip available next to the smelter. You can put medical beds there so beavers will be reminded of work while on sick leave.
2:20 Skye: "Maybe they just don't like that tree. Maybe there's something wrong with him." Me: (whispers) Heeeeexxaaaasssss... (Toxic Love from Ferngully starts playing) Hexxas: "Someone playing my song?" 2:39 You're DOOMED! 🤪
Building a camp sight for the little beavers will have them grow up faster. As they normally do not work they will use the camp fire as everyone else is working. Good luck in your game. I enjoyed your Surviving Mars "flat mars" game. :)
Dear Skye, I always find your solutions to problems interesting, and in this very challenging map you are taking it through a path I really didn’t expect. I can’t wait to see what craziness you’ll come up with for your megaprojects lol. I have two suggestions about what you built in this episode: 1. At the waterwheels, I’d put a levee instead of a platform under the power connection, because if you constrict the flow through the central column of the waterwheel you get some extra juice (and until you build a mega powerplant, any extra power may help). 2. At your new housing district, move the house on top of the warehouse someplace else and replace it with a rooftop terrace for extra wellbeing.
Skye you always overlook well being. Well being is the single most important thing you can do to increase your efficiency. Its also how you increase how many beavers you can support from a breeding pod. The work speed and move speed bonuses are amazing. You always give them no where near enough time to eat drink sleep and play so your well being is always so damn low.
Exactly, also easy to implement, beaver bridges, housing few decorations and you have so much more efficient. As a German it physically hurts to see this loss of efficiency
I know. It's just "when I was young you rascals..." kind of date. I'm surprised you didn't say anything about peeling pumpkins as if it's something Picture does every day. LUL
Thank you for these videos. I live in an area heavily effected by Hurricane Milton. I have no electricity for another week or so, no ability to cook, no AC.. these videos are the only thing that brings a little laughter to my family.
General tip : Travel distances can and will turn your colony into a crawling mess, so plan as tightly as possible, and move your district center if needed. Here the walking distance between the water pumps and storage without prioritized by enough haulers is the cause of the perpetual water crisis. Half the problem is due to early difficulty in this map, half is due to mad management. P.S. : Hopefully this is entirely fixed by the 3 pumps with access to the water reservoir by the district center ( 3 pumps can support 30 - 40 beavers if travel distance is short and work hours set to 18. ).
as of the current water rules in Timberborn, the best way to achieve water security and minimizing the losses due to evaporation, tank storage volume is 1. store as much water as possible in large tanks. (the only way to avoid evaporation) 2. use ponds and fill them with water dumps. (maximizes land for crops and reduces even more evaporation)
19:30 injured beavers dont work, but they do eat and drink water, better get that hospital soon, i usually build one or 5 when i get the gears workshop.
Nice to see you playing again. I hope you stay. I haven't been watching but will start with this update. Do you plan on playing infection free zone again?
Skye, you may want to plant some Birch and Pine tree's since they sprout faster than Oak. This way you're not constantly having a huge supply of wood then a mass deficit with your building. Obviously when you're more late game you can get rid of the Birch and Pine in favor of Oak since you'll have many more tree farms. Just a suggestion.
I didn’t click the link since I already have Timberborn for little over 2 years but if the devs are reading this I’d like to assure them that I bought Timberborn in large part because I loved Skye’s videos from it and wanted to experience the game for myself.
I was going to suggest diverting the badwater from the bad water source(left) by putting 3 or 4 levees in a line going south so that bad water won't push toward your island. But you've fixed the water issue. This would have been a simpler fix. Now that you have waterwheels, maybe block that flow and force the water back and around for more power? (You probably have enough power already)
Last time I play this map, I use the "water step" at the settlement's water exit as a pond of badwater separation and water storage to remain its surrounding green, outside will be closed by levee and allow one tile of dam for overflow.
Dear Skye, I think it would be useful to deepen the water reservoir with dynamite and enlarge it since you will need more water in the future because of the growing number of beavers and the longer lasting droughts and bad water. Maybe it would be useful to expand the reservoir to the south where you have the hill with the spawn to bad water.
I'm only 10 minutes in, wondering how he's going to get all that infrastructure built in this episode to even produce one dynamite, let alone the factory. Seems like a huge task because a smelter is needed first.
Dear Skye, I notice you’ve taken a different pace and tone in your humour this series. I support you all the way dude, just hoping the devs aren’t putting too much pressure on ya. I know you’re Mr Big Time now, be yourself, you got this.
I think if you go back to the last series you'll see no difference. It's always a bit more serious at the start while I'm just trying to survive. The devs have zero input on the video content. They don't even review them before release :)
Skye, you lemon, you can increase your Beaver population by giving them homes and increasing their life spans. Or aesthetic items. And it will be slow enough that if you start to have issues with food or water, you can fix it.
Dear Skye, TYVM for today video! I've enjoyed very much! One question, because I'm still learning and I want to be sure: the moment you said you were going to extend the channel, at 20:00, I was almost sure you were planning to extend that all to the three pumps already present, and damming the area around the pump intakes, creating a 2-deep pond. Is there a particular reason why this is a bad idea? Or you simply didn't think about it?
13:05 could the walkways have been done with dam pieces instead of platforms? They would take less resources. The question is if it would cause badwater flooding some how. The trapping of badwater might also pose some problems or it could have been a good thing because you could pump for longer during droughts.
15:00 Dear Skye, Would you petition to implement a night shift so some beavers could become „daysleepers“ with a small happiness debuff and work the night with different workplace priorities then dayshift? You could even make it dependent on available housing and a clocktower having been built. Or is this a mod already?
You should figure out how much water a building can have around it before it floods then set your forest to that level so you slightly flood your forest every water season so you have extra water for your trees
Wait, what was that? This one beaver that finished the explosives factory, hasn't he learned anything? If the work is neraly done, and the sun sets: let that player hanging till the night. Its called cliffhanger and Skye surely deserves it after all these cliffhangers he does himself 😜
@Skye just to make sure . . you do know you can mirror buildings to change where the door goes for example? It would have worked with the explosives factory? Gear Workshop? without needing to rip out the hauling post i think. Edit: yes he does, he does it with the tanks just a few minutes later . . *boggles*
32:30 Loads of waterwheels next to each other is a waste. Rather route the water properly to just one (or maybe two) and you'll get the same amount of power out.
very interesting! youve given me a lot to think about. question about your irrigation, is there a reason you want five tiles? I thought you only needed 3 tiles wide for maximum irrigation. or was it 5?
put levies next to the nearest bad water source so it gets divided from the clean water for better pumping time from the bridge up to the bad water source.
Did they change the amount of water a beaver can pump, and also what they consume? Seems to me the beavers should be able to store a bit more water than you're getting out of them. They're not really efficiently pumping their wood.
Mix your forests! Faster growing trees like pine and birch can provide some wood in the 30 day Oak period. might feel lest optimal, but this ain't either.

Mangroves, Skye. Use that shallow water for extra food!
Or extra wood. because mangrove are the second best wood source after Oaks, and don't need dry land.
I beg add this
I just think mangroves are cool and add food variety
