I'm sure in hindsight you remember that you've got the three water pumps on the far island for emergencies like in this episode. It does put the oak forest in danger, but the trees will last longer without water than the beavers. Loving the videos! Catch you in the next one!
I'd blow up 1 level down with dynamite so that sluicegates can be set to closed once the surface downstream is ca 0.9 or so. Then the entire irrigation reservoir won't spill anymore.
@@SkyeStorme Not sure if it will work like I imagine but would using 2 separated sluice gates pointed in opposite directions with different control settings work?
No. To fix this issue the terrain right before 6 main sluices needs to be dynamited to one level below current max water level in irrigation system, so the sluices can be set to close above some water level (ie. 0,85 or 0,9). After that, those 2 floodgates won't be needed anymore.
That was the type of episode ive grown to love from you skye, a lot of building/expanding, a lot of panic and tension from your own clumsy mistakes, you are right phase 3 was awesome.. this is cinema ;)
I'm having a great time watching these! Excellent for eating popcorn and sometimes throwing it at my screen when you forget to turn the pumps on or open the gates. I'm so glad you got those sluice gates in place. :D
I have 2 going side by side - Iron Teeth and our ole friends the Foxtails. It's so interesting to see as the game develops - the differences! Keep Going !!! My nemesis is becoming a lil puppy with every vid !! Or should we say Kittan PP ! SUPERB!
38:30 on your reservoir you have a partial wall that is dirt. If you blow it up and put sluices at the bottom do you think you can get water to your pumps faster vs waiting for it to come down your irrigation channel?
Have you got the engine and water wheel power networks connected? Also, if you rejig your paths and some water barrels, you can fit more in. Unless you are planning for the large ones. Loving the new series, keep it up.
Close one sky, glad the beavers didnt all die. Glad that we're back to building stuff and ripping them out 3 secods latter. Still waiting for sky to rip out all of the irrigation sytems and move it one tile. Keep up the good work! (Dont burn yourself out)
Loving the series so far, can really feel the effort to move forward whilst trying trying to balance survival, I really love the islands feel, after the last play through there is so many different challenges, can’t wait to see what is next
12:00 you could also utilize the shallow water ways for mangrove, add some food variety for some a wellbeing point, as well as utilizing areas that are unused. they are easy and only require the Forrester for putting the mangrove in and a gathering flag for collecting once its grown, after you can destroy the building, because there is no replanting.
18:40 Imagine if the explosives factory and stored explosives had a small chance to randomly explode. More exolosives stored the bigger the boom. And the explosion will chain from one to another if the storages are too close together. Mifht make things more exciting and incentivize taking precautions.
22:57 TNT a deeper reservoir. Add sluices. 23:26 Replace floodgates with sluices here. 6 of them. Set to 0.95. 24:42 TNT below these sluices & set to 0.95 or shut off always.
Loving the crazy difference in maps from last series! Interested to see how you'll inevitably separate all the bad water and create mega damns (if you want to).
You know it's a good episode when the innuendo's back and Skye forgets he has extra pumps in the back. Also, maybe take a day off, give yourself and your throat a rest.
Remember that you also have to factor in the breeding pots to the water consumption Edit: Could you maybe ask the devs for more settings for the sluices? Close above / below upstream depth and even when the sluice is on the ground that you can still put it to close above downstream depth of more than 1.0 Much appreciated
The upstream sluices should be placed where the floodgates are so you can set them up to close when a certain downstream water level is reached. Will permanently solve flooding
Dear Sky!!! Just a small sugestion: you can leave the "backdoor Floodgates" constantly set to 0.9 or 0.95 and dont worry about them... at this level the reservoir will not (hopefully) flood and still be super full, while not letting any badwater in since the level will not reach that high. also, untill you have the sluices (and that doesnt look too far away anyway) you should connect the other floodgates with ghosts, so you only need to set them up once. EDIT: Ignore this... should have watched more 2 mins of the video and see you unlock the sluices before comenting this 🤣🤣🤣
Hi sky. So in case you diddn't know the simple floodgate mod is avalible for update 6, that way you can automate the floodgates so you don't have to panic that you forget to open or close them + you can automate the pumps and dumps as well, since the mods are now in the normal game enabled I think its ok to add some. Also pick up the ladders mod its awesome
Nice series ... I don't believe water evaporates from storage .. so when a drought starts, it make sense to double your efforts to move the water to Storage Tanks. Evaporation is your enemy right now till you can deepen the reservoirs ...
Part of me is sad that Phase Three is donezo's, but that sadness (as fleeting as it is) is overwritten by the fact we witnessed the first bits of Boom-Boom in Atlantean History, as well as several major scientific breakthroughs. I guess those blueprint-ghosts of barracks genuinely _did_ inspire your brainy beavers after all! I can't wait to see what's waiting for us in Phase Four, Skye! As a side note, I'm starting to think there should be a scientifically-expensive building (say 3 or 4 thousand to unlock) that allows you to use extract to purify the bad water into clean water. Imagine the possibilities when combined with the Iron Teeth tribe's version of the bad water source plug.
Due to the lonngevity of beavers, the need of breeding decrease, so I did find that 5 breeding pods is a good starting point (6 on a good easy map), then you turn off one by one to stabilize your population.
I would love for devs to implement co-op on this game and publish saved partially played maps, ability to copy and paste structures within the game and to save them and share them like you can do with townscape.
Hi, the sluice gates will surely keep you out of trouble! Maybe it's also an idea to trigger on downstream water height, so you don't need to empty the water on the other side manually via the flood gates?
14:45 Now you've disconnected the water wheels. If you'd left the upwards power shaft in-place, you could have built the engine on top and kept everything connected. -- 35:05 hmm, maybe (un)intentionally lucky because during a drought you can keep powering industry and science is automatically paused.
you need to dynamite the irrigation channel all the way to the upper sluices that way they can automatically maintain the water level and you can get rid of all the gates.
Question, Wouldn't you get more power out of a second set of water wheels linked across the island than you get by diverting the flow to the current set? Or is it not enough to be worth the extra material? Also, is there a reason to not dynamite the middle block and put the sluce in with the dam back on top since you only open it in emergency situations and want the maximum amount available. Sorry if these are dumb questions. Water is weird.
Hey Skye, today was my exam, all went well but i am nervous about what my scores will be anyways good night to you and picture, i ill just wait for my result and watch this video and enjoy it.
Those two floodgates you use to keep everything from flooding, why not keep them at 0.95 high rather than constantly changing them from 0 to 1 with every change of season?

I need some phase four in my life promptly, now that the boom-boom has been sorted… Brilliant, as always!
Phase 1, build stuff.
Phase 2, break stuff.
Phase 3, fix stuff.
Phase 4, ?
Phase 5, a million subscribers!
Dear skye
You should have put floodgates instead of dams near the pumps.
You lemon.
With kisses
You should put your overflow system near the pumps with a couple of floodgates at 95/90 and Forget the ones in the north
Already loving the episode 🙃
Skye - King of the Lemons and I would not have it any other way. Your videos are always a fun watch.

Skye if this is phase 3 end of the series is going to be like phase 101 🙂
You shouldn’t use the engines unless it’s a drought because they burn through logs really fast
This series is coming along amazingly well, sort of lol. Great entertainment.

There are floodgates to do what you're asking. Use them.
@tinman7856 you realise that floodgates let water pass in EITHER DIRECTION? So, no, they don't function in the way that I'm describing

I wonder how Skye would go with a self imposed Dynamite Free challenge.
I would love to see his brain come up with terrain constrained solutions.
Part of me is sad that Phase Three is donezo's, but that sadness (as fleeting as it is) is overwritten by the fact we witnessed the first bits of Boom-Boom in Atlantean History, as well as several major scientific breakthroughs. Is it possible to stop the overflow by setting water hight for the sluices?
Yes, as long the level downstream is the same as the level of the reservoir. Needs a bit of dynamite for it to work.
looking forward to the start of the lost city
I think if you add a flood gate near the water pumps the two in the back won't we needed. You will always hahve 0.9 or 0.95 of water
As you have extract now you could make the better breeding pod, so you can do away with those pesky kids :)
Indeed :)
You may wanna connect the engine that is next to the water wheels to the water wheels. Currently they are two separate power grids.
A small creek to a 4x4x2 pond under the new farm houses/storage should keep 80% of the field hydrated for at least a 20 day drought.
It was entertaining. good phase 3. lets hope that phase 4 would at least be decent)
Sunflowers are quick and easy food too
You could be holding lots more surface water and save the gears and planks. Levees are cheaper.
Due to the lonngevity of beavers, the need of breeding decrease, so I did find that 5 breeding pods is a good starting point (6 on a good easy map), then you turn off one by one to stabilize your population.
I wouldn't have placed the dynamite under the pump pickups. That way if you forget to turn pumps off you still have one tile worth of water for crops.
I would love for devs to implement co-op on this game and publish saved partially played maps, ability to copy and paste structures within the game and to save them and share them like you can do with townscape.
You can automate the pumping reservoir by setting the sluice to auto downstream depth. Replace the other damns with sluices or levees

16:40 what did you change off-cam to bring the power back
New editor for sure
Not sure if anyone has said...at the new engine, I don't think the water wheels are connected to the new plank and gear workshops
Question,
Wouldn't you get more power out of a second set of water wheels linked across the island than you get by diverting the flow to the current set? Or is it not enough to be worth the extra material?
