    Great video nice clear voice good camera positions and no crappy music. People say fill the filter. It doesn’t help or harm. Many cars/trucks have cartridges now and you don’t fill those. Oil is still covering the parts during oil change you won’t get it all. The oil pump pushes pressure instantly. Thanks for your time to make the video.

    Good Video , one more step that I personally do is I fill the new filter with new oil before I put it on the truck , so when you start the truck first time after your done with oil change it picked the oil up faster so you have oil to moving parts faster.

    Excellent video. On these trucks, Yukon's and Tahoe's the filter and oil drain plug is easy to get too. Makes for a very easy oil and filter change. I am not crazy about the thin oil used in these engines, but that is what GM calls for. I also added a catch can to help with the intake carbon build up problem with these direct injection engines. I also pick up a tuner and used it to delete the cylinder deactivation nonsense. My Yukon 5.3 has 41000 miles on it, and it is a pleasure to drive. Sense I don't drive it in the winter months, I change the oil and filter every spring, regardless how few miles are on the oil. Like you, it takes the right type of funnel to add the 8 quarts of oil. I tried to find a specialty funnel made just for these engines but had no luck. I have been using Castrol Edge 0w20 Dexos oil and ACDelco oil filter. I don't think the brand of oil and filter is as important as changing both on a regular basis. Thanks for sharing the very well-made video.

    Many people comment about pre-filling the filter.
    What would they do if the filter is mounted horizontal, as it is on some engines ?
    Manufacturers neither recommend or discourage pre-filling but, I'll bet your dealership does not pre-fill filters when doing an oil change.
    BUT ......... it's entirely up to the individual and what they are comfortable with.
    Just start your engine and let it idle until the gauge or light shows pressure ........., usually around five seconds +/--.
    Cheers !

    • @georgesmith5185
      @georgesmith5185 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're correct that 0w20 is recommended by the factory but it's for decreasing resistance to flow and is supposed to increase fuel economy. I run 5w30 because it protects the bearings and other moving parts better. Diesel engines have far closer tolerances on bearings and other moving parts such as turbos. They run 15w40 as I do in my diesels. Longevity is the goal.

      The 100% oil meter for these 14-18 trucks comes out to be about 7500 miles I change mine at 6000k miles or about 18-20%. If you only drive 3000 miles a year change your oil once a year.
