Nick foles had 90 yard game winning drive vs the best defense in nfl bears at soldier field and then the next game would have beaten saints if not for Jeffries drop
Probably got another 5 seasons of getting paid as a backup. Got the easiest backup spot now too, he’s Mahomes backup in Kansas City. He’ll only see mop up duty in blowouts.
Amazing point man. Totally agree with you. No surprise that at the combine Wentz scored double the avg score on the cognitive test loll. If destroying one's career means u end up with all that loot and ontop being on the sidelines for most of the time, then sign me up loll
Nick Foles playoff run was nothing short of legendary, came off the bench and brought Philly a chip. On another note, your reaction to the giants loss has been me over the last 5 years after every game the bills have lost in heart shattering fashion. Which are endless
In 5 seasons Carson Wentz has 0 playoff wins 52 fumbles. He is 7-20 vs teams over 500. He has no heart no desire to win. His teammates hate him. He makes everyone around him worse. He started 5-6 in 4 of his first 5 seasons. Eagles are 24-6 in their last 30 games with Foles..
Foles run was legendary. It was like Doug Williams performance in Super Bowl XXII in 1988. Foles is a fringe starter. You wouldn’t want him to be your starting QB, but you would want him to be your backup QB.
@@AlexRosner-v8t You've been making fake profiles on YT & Twitter since 2018 with made up stats. Wentz is 18/31 vs .500 teams, only like 3 QBs have a winning record vs .500 teams, Brady is one of them. Focus on your poor grammar then on logically sound syllogisms for argumentation. Right now you're engaging in Fractal Wrongness.
If it wasn't for Wentz philadelphia probably never made the play offs .his down fall was injury to his knee that took him out the last few games before the superbowl
The Eagles should thank Belichick for benching Malcolm Butler the entire game when their defense was getting torched. It was a disgrace. He started 97% of the snaps all year. He plays, Patriots probably win.
Yeah, but would be relevant to this vider only if Wentz never played well in competition. He played tremendously well in college, and then in the beginning of his NFL career, when not injured.
Ironically Wentz's head was his biggest enemy for sure. He either overthought or obsessed over every bump in the road. He was great at mastering the playbook and interpreting coverages but when something went wrong he couldn't just use it for fuel & move forward. In a high stakes, what-have you-done-for-me-lately business like NFL, that kind of obsessing will turn you into a basket case. A. Luck is a great contrast - he was a super smart QB, too, but was also gifted at keeping his head straight when things are went wrong. Night & day....
What, the statue? HAH, Mate, I'm a fucking Aussie and even I know about the statue. BDN the Philly Goat: "You wan't Philly Philly? Yeah, let's run it."
That’s pretty thorough lol, “hero ball” was absolutely his downfall. One little tidbit I think you missed - the colts gm was on record pleading with wentz to “just take the layups”. He was doing this early in his career, idk why he abandoned it. Such a shame
Actually, you were off a bit on some of it. Not only did Wentz refuse to work with Pederson, but the Birds fired Pederson to placate Wentz. Then even after that, Wentz demanded a trade from the Birds. It was at that point he lost any fans that still had any love for him. He just handled things so poorly.
Pederson publicly stabbed Carson in the back, several months after Howie stabbed him in the back. Once he was benched, his time in Philly was over...there was no coming back when it is obvious your front office doesn't want you. Doug being fired had nothing to do with Carson, it had to do with Doug wanting more power in the organization and Laurie/Howie wanting it all to themselves. Doug basically fired himself because they wouldn't give him any say in the organization despite earning more than they wanted him to have. Basically, Howie tanked a Superbowl roster and the easy targets for him to save his job were Carson and Doug and he whacked them both. You're just a typical, gullible Philly fan.
@@travelingfool9096 why would he want to stay in Philly? If you were one of the best people on the planet at a skill that is valued and your general manager kept fucking up and blaming you for his failures, would you want to stay and work for him? How about if your other supervisor publicly did not have your back just months later? Would you still want to work there??? How many times did Philly management need to stab him in the back and not support him before he needed a fresh start. Unfortunately for him, the owner of his fresh start was a fucking lunatic.

Nick Foles winning that Super Bowl completely screwed up Carson's head, he was determined to prove that he was better and that HE could win a game and a championship and from then he's been chasing that narrative
Real Talk He was BALLING OUT Then that happened and his missed out on an MVP of The League and A SUPERBowl W & likely MVP there as well That messed Him up for sure & He’s the type that confidence is everything When He was The Man & His Team & Teammates love him n hyped him up He was on top of the world and playing like it Then backup BDN came in and did everything he felt he was supposed to do Wentz was on His way to an MVP of The League in His 2nd season Ish is wild how much that all changed everything He’s definitely in the best place to get His Game Back though Backing up there is where He needs to be He can learn more and get His confidence back up as a backup 😉 N if he gets in there He’ll be put in a great position again like His 2nd season It will be his best team since then to throw to & play ball with
Exactly! Both of you are right. I think Wentz gets way too much hate when he dang near won MVP the Super Bowl year before getting hurt. He was very hurt that Foles stepped up and won the super bowl in his place.
If that was the extent of his reaction, great. That's how any real competitor would process a team succeeding in their absence. But actually articulating that you're unhappy the team is winning without you . . ? That would be 100% a deal-killer for me as a coach, teammate, or fan. Prove yourself; of course . . but root against your own guys if you can't be The Guy . . ? HARD nope.
Having post 2017 Wentz as your QB was an unbelievable ride. He was capable of the best plays you've ever seen, just to follow them up with the most boneheaded mistake no rookie would ever make. When Howie drafted Hurts I was beyond confused back then, but his demeanor being the polar opposite to Wentz' meant that the entire team wanted him to start immediately. Especially the O-Line, who hated Wentz for taking tons of sacks for no good reason, loved Hurts from day 1 and were pushing for him hard. I'm happy every day that Howie drafted Hurts, who by now can do everything Wentz ever could but better. In the end Wentz has (or maybe had) everything to be one of the best QBs in the league, but his ego ruined everything.
I’m not I wish eagles trusted him more and gave him help except drafting his replacement bc it has been proven that the wr they drafted from tcu was a bust and untill ertz left that was wentz best receiver and the sad part is I’m a eagles fan and I see the bs
If there is anyone in this world that can turn him around it is Andy Reid. Sitting behind Mahomes, who is known to be an amazing mentor is the highest honor in the NFL today. Carson didn’t look horrible yesterday and Andy has the best shot at wrangling and ensuring his head is straight.
Yes, for sure if Andy Reid would have been able to work with Carson Wentz since he was a rookie. It's way too little, way too late to salvage Wentz now and he is only on a 1-year deal with the Chiefs as a backup.
I don't disagree, but I just don't see Wentz ever being good again. Serviceable? Maybe, but not good, and certainly not great ... I just don't think he's that good. Once DCs got tape on him he was toast, but it's what's between his ears that's the biggest issues. He's as sensitive as they come, and if he didn't have success in Indy, I don't see him having it anywhere. I do agree that Reid gives him the best chance though, and I hope he proves me wrong.
That was the most scripted game I seen. The Chargers and Colts layer down the final few weeks for Roethlisberger to make the playoffs in his final season. Reminds me of Peyton Manning winning the Super Bowl in his final season with all that plot armor
@@Carbon420Blazing 2021 was when Carson's first season as a Colt, throughout the season he had some great games but he also had some horrible games and the team was relying mainly on their workhorse jonathan taylor, the colts were 9-7 in week 18 and all they had to do was beat the 2-14 jaguars to make it to the playoffs but wentz and the colts played absolutely disgraceful football and they lost 26-11
The Carson Wentz and Ben Simmons situations should vindicate Philly fans of many accusations they have endured. To anyone who objects and wants to bring up the Santa thing, your daddy wasn’t even alive when that happened.
The santa thing is dumb anyhow because it was a fcking drunk fan they carted out there 😂 I could see if history was fans snowballing a "working santa," but it was some drunk in a suit
Comparing Wentz to Simmons is pretty tough. There are a LOT of QB's that would have a tough time returning from an ACL after their backup had just won a SB with THEIR team. Let's remember that before that injury, Wentz was at an MVP level and was BELOVED in Philly. Simmons was never close to that. He was an all-star and a good player but they're really different.
Im not making any value judgements but Philly is a rough town (spent 6 months there and got mugged at gunpoint twice, I grew up in LA, never happened there) and rough on it's sports stars. Definitely the type of people to boo Santa. That's not just a narrative. Also... "Working Santa?" (You were about to say "real Santa" weren't you?) Lol. What's a working Santa? How are they distinguished from drunks in suits? Seems to me most Santas are drunks in suits. Please introduce me to the respectable professional Santas who put so much effort into their craft. And my daddy was born in 1935...
This is an incredible long spanning retrospective, but you missed something, which I as an Eagles fan will not forget. Before they traded Wentz, the Eagles fired Doug Pederson, to seemingly try to placate Wentz and keep him here. Even when they were willing to destroy their coaching staff for the guy, he opted to move on.
Later on Doug was seen in camp with Wentz after that as if Doug was never the issue. It was reported the issue was the front office. Because in 2020 the Eagles drafted another QB in the second round even though their need was WR pretty bad. And even drafting a WR the round before they did a very bad selection at it which seen most of the NFL laughing at them. Reports were Wentz felt they were not doing enough to support him with weapons. It was just 2019 when Wentz set the Eagles passing season record with no true number 1 WR. That year most of the WRs were injured and Ertz was the leading catcher! Then in 2020 injuries killed them on offense leaving only Wentz and Kelce healthy all of that year. But in the end the team seemed to blame Wentz. With time by a good Oline and scrub WRs we seen Wentz set a passing yards record for a season. Now the team with no healthy Oline nor WRs wants to give all the blame to Wentz which was not fair. Any decent QB would want out. But Colts were no better. There Oline in 2021 ranked 3rd last in pass protection. The commanders were just as bad ranking bottom in pass protection as well. The only reason Wentz backup did better in games is because he scrambled to make plays happen but coaches were trying to stop Wentz from doing that since he was injured a lot early in his career.
I'm not a NDSU, Eagles, Colts, Redskins, or Wentz fan. I still think the man still got what it takes to be a starter for some teams. He's more mature and came back from the dead. KC made a great decision in signing him.
Carson didn’t have the mental fortitude to be an NFL QB and he couldn’t put his ego aside. Both Nick Foles and then Jalen Hurts replaced him and both went to the Super Bowl with the Eagles.
When they started Hurts his rookie year, it was obvious to even casual fans like myself that Hurts has the mental discipline to handle the role. He always seem laser focused, as well as always having an even keel with his emotions. I was not shocked that he was in a super bowl a couple years later. I wouldn't be shocked if the Eagles got back this year due to Hurts.
Once an athlete becomes broken mentally and begins to question their abilities, its nearly impossible for them to find "it" again. The few who have done it are usually among the elite
Imagine the feeling of getting benched for a rookie 2nd rounder QB that has no experience playing in the NFL as much as you are and then got traded in the offseason and has been playing for 3 different teams
We can talk about injuries, but Carson Wentz just didn't have the mental fortitude to be an NFL QB. He never found a positive way to handle adversity and seemed to be a case of small town kid who let big time success get to his brain to the point that he went out doing it "his way"
@@BostonBori92 Boston, what NFL team did you play for? Oh, that's right, you don't have the mental fortitude to play in the NFL. Stay in mommy's basement where it's safe.
I think 95% of the time the whole "anonymous player or source" is all bs just made up by the sports media to stir the pot. People act like news isn't about actual news anymore and just drama and bs.
In Philly whenever he talked you could tell to him the rest of the team were his servants. He also only cared about religion and hunting. They were the only two thoughts in his head.
Dude had a serious Jeff George vibe. I remember a quote from one of George's O linemen who said he never got Jeff sacked on purpose, but when he did get beaten and gave up a sack, it didn't bother him nearly as much as it did when he was blocking for QBs he didn't despise.

@SheGotSports You never disappoint for real you truly are very cute smart intelligent young lady Lauren I'm ready for the 2024 NFL Season! I know that you are too!😎
Fantastic video! One thing that a lot of people forget to mention is that if you played QB for the Eagles since 2013 you got to play behind a Jeff Stoutland coached offensive line. An offensive line so good that Nick Foles went on two seperate legendary runs in two separate schemes separated by 4 seasons, including barely being touched by the NE defense in the SB. The Eagles lose that game if Wentz starts, because he likely crumbles. Carson was put in one of the best situations one can imagine for a QB. Very talented individual that was likely shortchanged some necessary bullying when he was growing up 🤷♂️
Them winning the Super Bowl with Foles was one thing, but building that statue and shrine and treating Wentz like chopped liver really messed with his mental
The shrine was to give Foles confidence as nobody believed in him since he didnt play well before Vikings game. The statue was a gift from Bud Light. But I agree, mentally I wouldn't be able to overcome the scenario Wentz had to go through. He did the heavy lifting and Foles had all the credit. It took both of them to win that year.
@@emilionarvaez1415 Not true his inability to adapt to not playing hero ball once his team got healthy was his actual downfall...He had that run of carrying the Eagles when they had major injuries on the O then once those guys came back Carson couldn't stop playing aggressive he was scrambling alot and forcing the ball trying to make big home run plays instead of just moving the chains

Wentz grew up in Bismarck, North Dakota, played for NDSU in Fargo, North Dakota. His entire life he was the big fish in a little pond and was treated accordingly. Making it to the NFL makes him an elite athlete, but think of the competition he faced growing up in North Dakota. How easy it was for him to dominate through sheer talent because he really had very few peers. How much adversity did he ever face competing against kids in high school who would be mediocre DII players? At NDSU he played against teams that were lucky to have a single NFL draft pick on their rosters. Growing up with that obviously gave him an inflated sense of entitlement. Because he never developed a sense of humility, because he could always win games all by himself, it is no wonder he kept playing hero ball in the NFL. He has the talent but not the right emotion...humility.
Philly is a tough town--if you're not playing hard, or are egotistical, the fans will let you know exactly how they feel about you. Wentz could have turned it around like Alec Bohm, but he didn't.

@@thedustsonThis post is spot on. It’s as if you’ve visited ND for 7 mins and figured it out!! I mean this in all seriousness. And I’ve lived here 51 yrs!!
Carson is a textbook illustration of the old adage that an unbounded strength is a weakness. Smart, but didn't know when (or how) to listen, and tried to play hero ball when he needed to check down and move to the next play. He is also outspoken about his faith in a way that offputs his team mates.
@@spikenomoon Not questioning his faith or even if he is a good guy or not - by all accounts he was and is. However, the way he manifested it was off-putting to many of his teammates and ownership. Why do you think Inday canned him? Having faith doesn't require one to be offensive about it.
All these football players go on about their faith. It's all sky pointing and "I want to thank God." Plus its majority black and black Americans are on average more overtly Christian.
As a huge Eagles fan and resident in Philly I have to say you are very knowledgeable. You did a amazing job summing up the wentz era in Philly and his career afterwards. You were right on the money
In 5 seasons Carson Wentz has 0 playoff wins 52 fumbles. He is 7-20 vs teams over 500. He has no heart no desire to win. His teammates hate him. He makes everyone around him worse. He started 5-6 in 4 of his first 5 seasons. Eagles are 24-6 in their last 30 games with Foles
I’ll always be grateful for him as his MVP season and contributions in 2017 gave Nick Foles the opportunity to lead us to our very first Super Bowl. That makes him one of the greats imo.
"Our very first Superbowl". How embarrassing. A team in the NFC East with the Giants, Redskins and Cowboys dominance finally gets one Superbowl win. The Eagles are an embarrassment to the NFC EAST.
As an Eagles fan I love Wentz for how he got thing started in 2017. Foles was able to pivot. I have often wondered if there were things going on in Carson's personal life, dating/engagement/babies that shifted his focus as well and caused his on field downfall and inconsistency.
Another great analysis - also goes to show that stats are often overblown - take his one year in Indy. 27-7 TD-INT and at times it looked like Wentz had never seen the game played before.
Was at the game they played the Titans in Indy and told some colts fans behind me Wentz would mess up game tied almost in their end zone, next play he tries to throw it with his left hand after being pressured for a pick 6… couldn’t make this up 😂
Carson was so talented. He was as big Cam Newton and threw 40+ yd bombs, but he was never the same after tearing his ACL. When he first started he carried our team, then he sandbagged us after our receivers kept getting hurt and we were playing with practice squad heros. Sad to see him fall from grace
@@AlexRosner-v8t injuries bro. yeah Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson were healthy but they’re legends, and they don’t play receiver. you can listen to kelce talk about how good Carson was during his interviews btw
Carson Wentz was definitely flawed with leadership, but he received too much blame for the Eagles 2020 season. His receiving core was as follows: 1. Jalen Reagor (draft bust) 2. JJ Arcega-Whiteside (draft bust) 3. Quez Watkins (who Philly now understands is terrible lol) 4. John Hightower (99% of people probably don’t remember him) 5. Travis Fulgham (an Aaron Rodgers castaway) 6. Greg Ward (a college QB) And I didn’t even mention how bad the o-line was. People…..not a single one of these players are on the Eagles in 2024, who are making a championship run. To make matters worse, I think only Quez Watkins has a job right now. Still, he’s buried on Pittsburgh’s depth chart.
Nah Wentz was overrated coming out college, had a great '17 season with the best roster in football, otherwise, he was and is just an average to below avg qb
Clooney speared Foles in the Texans game in 2018 during the Eagles 4th quarter comeback. Foles got up, led the Eagles to second of 4 straight wins (Rams, Texans, Washington, Chicago). If Brandon Brooks doesn't get hurt, they probably beat NO as well. Foles just led better and made better decisions.
Wentz was so good in the 2017 season, one can only wonder how the injury affected him. Some players who are brighter than most get shellacked by the press and lesser players. If they get hurt there's no sympathy.
Like Ted Williams? He was bright as hell and a gdamn combat fighter pilot and he still took mad sht from reporters and fans. He still managed to be great.
When the media has a narrative on you, it's tedious to contextualize everything. Carson is still my favorite player (Eagles fan for 22 years), because without him, Foles would never have the chance to play in SB. It took both of them to win that year. The people who want to discredit Wentz as a significant contributor are dishonest. In that case Marc-Andre Fleury in NHL should give back 2 of his 3 rings since he didnt play in Stanley Cup final, Murray was the goalie for both wins. Yet he's considered a 3 time Stanley Cup winner. It's a team game! Now if Wentz was like Nate Sudfeld and didnt play basically, it would be a different story. But Wentz was arguably the best player in the NFL that year and the main reason they had BYE and homefield advantage. Now that alone doesnt guarantee a SB but what it does do, is put them in best position to win SB. Wentz never really had NFL playoff experience, and Foles never finished a full season in his career. Foles also went 10 quarters without a TD that SB year, had worst QBR in NFL then arguably played best back to back playoff games ever. Pats defense got shredded with Foles who was a stationary QB. Wentz was a dual threat that year, before his injury he was HIM. I think the pressure of trying to win SB all on his own after that, and the Clowney dirty hit put too much pressure and he didn't have the mental fortitude to overcome it. Whatever one thinks of his personality, fans need to be grateful for his contributions to the SB year as he was the catalyst that put them in the best position to win! The shrine for Foles was also there because everyone knew that Foles needed more confidence especially the way reg season ended, and his Falcons game was awful. Foles was never really consistent (Apart from 2013 when he had Prime Djack and prime Shady). He needed all the help he could and the shrine made him believe that his teammates believed in him. I think that helped his confidence. I love Foles and I am grateful for both Wentz and Foles that year. Without one of them, we dont win. I still believe pre-torn ACL he would have shredded Pats defense, but we will never know. What we do know is that we won Superbowl with both of their contributions. There's a reason why Eagles became underdogs after Wentz went down. In 2017 Wentz had: #1 QBR in NFL #3 EPA #1 PPG with him at helm #1 3rd/4th down conversion #1 tight window throw 23-0 in RZ (Currently in 2024 has one of the best RZ TD/INT ratio in NFL history 110 TD 6 INT). 33 TDs in 13 games 11-2 record Pro Bowl All pro Won 2017 NFL POTY (Bert Bell) award as not only the best QB but the best player. I wrote an article with contextualized advanced analytics during his Eagles tenure: medium.com/@justintime25/the-case-for-carson-d339e2614c04 One for Colts in 2021: medium.com/@justintime25/carson-the-colt-1d06459fb8e2 Crazy is (I love Hurts btw) Carson still holds the Eagles passing records and his best receivers were Jeffery and Agholor. Most TD passes (2017) Most yards (2019) Best comp% (2018) Scored a TD pass in all 16 games in 2019 (1st Eagles QB to ever do it and 3rd QB in history to ever do it). Whilst Hurts has had the most stacked team of any Eagles QB. All Pro receivers etc. Wentz really just had 2 bad seasons since 2016. His last year with Eagles in 2020 (Where team was also decimated with injuries/lack of talent) and in 2022 with Washington. He had a great game with Rams vs 49ers (3 TDs, converted 2 4th downs) both teams didnt play whole roster and some top players for both teams played like half the game. But mentally had he folded, his career would be over. He played like his career was on the line and it was. They needed to win so that Stafford could play against his former team the Lions. Chiefs also got Wentz to do QB sneaks because they dont want to risk Mahomes getting hurt again doing it. Wentz since 2016 has had the most successful rate in QB sneaks until the Eagles "Tush push" came along. I really want KC to reach SB and Carson to have a QB sneak TD! I think it will be very emotional for him and a good comeback/feel good story. One thing we can never question about Carson, is that he put everything on the line body wise. He plays hard, one of the toughest players physically. I think anyone's mental game (Apart from Brady, Mahomes and few others) would have trouble overcoming the injuries he's had, pressure in Philly, seeing another QB win the SB while you did the heavy lifting to get them there. I know I wouldn't be able to.
I was nodding my head in agreement until the end. Part of being a professional player is that you need the mental fortitude for it to not bother you. If it does, you aren't one of the best. Thus, if it did. Wentz is an average pro QB that had the same flash in the pan string of games, much like Foles.
@@reubensandwich9249 This is why he's not one of the best (like HOF players). Simply that he was underrated and over-hated by media/fans. He has his flaws and that Clowney hit where he couldn't recognize his wife made him panic when pocket collapses. Even after his torn ACL, he still played well in 2018 and 2019. 2021 was a good bounce back from 2020. 2022 was bad. Rams game he played well considering he had one game to save his career which is prob why he signed for slightly more $ with the Chiefs. Advanced analytics show he's better than what people make him out to be. But he'll never be an all time great. (Pre-torn ACL who knows, but that is long gone). Overall Wentz is better than Foles but I can see your point.
Yup exactly. I don't get the hate on Wentz. He was sabotaged his career after he helped win the Super Bowl. Howie drafted junk for receivers, and then drafted a QB instead of more help. Then Irsay was always high and didn't give him the help. I don't need to say more about Snyder. Despite it all, he remained positive and strong. Only reason he's still here is how mentally strong he is.
As a Philly local and Eagles fan, thiis is when I knew we had made a mistake. I think It was 2018, and there was a gun violence epidemic in Philly. So a group of athletes from all four sports went down to address a group of high school students about gun safety. Great. Good. Fine. Wentz headed back to the stadium and a reporter tagged along. Now, I don’t know if any other cities had a 4:30 PM news, but Philly did. So they decide to do a live interviiew - and the first question was an utter softball (something like “How was your off-season?” Remember, this is the afternoon of the day with the anti-gun violence workshop. Now, Carson could give any answer he wanted to this reporter. What does he go with? How much he loves guns and hunting. Followed by him pulling out a catalogue to show the reporter all the shotguns he bought his offensive linemen at the end of the season. Fine. Whatever. But then he opens up his locker to show this reporter the two shotguns he had in there that he was “working on.” I I don’t care that he likes guns, but read the freakiN room, buddy. Perhaps don’t valorize guns during a gun violence epidemic. He didn’t seem to care about anything that didn’t directly affect him, and seemed not to have much concern for the needs of anyone other than him. You can’t lead a team If you only care about yourself.
So out of his entire career, him liking firearms and talking about the good side of firearms made you mad? 😂 welcome to America bud. 2nd amendment is a lovely thing. Unfortunately highly protected politicians think everyday citizens shouldn’t have them so they can keep control(remember why we have the 2nd amendment). Laws only stop law abiding citizens not criminals who don’t give a fuck about the laws. More lives are saved by firearms than taken. You want less gun violence? Let citizens have the option to protect themselves. Less people will be willing to use firearms to harm others if they know there’s a good chance rounds will be returned. All that being said, I do believe training should be required.
@ That’s not the point at all. While he was here, over and over again I watched him throw into tight windows when there were guys wide open. Well, he’d just come from this very somber ceremony remembering dead children and talking about gun violence. A reporter asked him a question that left the field wide open - he clhiae the most contested subject to discuss. He took an easy question and made it unnecessarily difficult, while also showing an utter lack of empathy. You know how announcers talk about situational awareness? That was Wentz’s weakness, both professionally and interpersonally. Let me ask you this: If your buddy just lost their job, and they ask what’s new with you, does that seem to be the best time to bring up your promotion, even if you are really excited about it? It’s not the topic - it’s the insensitivity.
Maybe it was a conscious decision in attempt to set right people like you who equate responsible gun ownership and self defense with gang violence and the mentally ill. Although I'll admit it was misguided. You're never going to get leftists to believe that everyone has the right to protect themselves and their families. That's for Democrat politicians and people rich enough to afford personal security. Funny every time I see a liberal anti gun politician go to a gun control rally they have armed security with them. Its like read the room... Gtfoh.
Foles should've been the starter after he won throughout the playoffs capping it off with winning the superbowl no reason for him to give up the starting position
Management messed up there. After the Super Bowl, the Eagles decided to sign Wentz to a big extension. They should of had Wentz prove that he could take the team back deep into the playoffs again but Foles did not have a good record in the regular season, so simply handing him the job didn’t seem to be feasible.

@@archmage7813Just imagine if Wentz pulled a Jim Plunkett and got one more chance at being a starting quarterback and won a Super Bowl. Stranger things have happened. The talent is there, it’s just a mentality thing. I do feel for him, just imagine having an MVP caliber season, then getting injured for the rest of the year, and your backup not only rallies the troops and wins the Super Bowl but they make a damn statue of your replacement that sits in front of the Eagles stadium, you’d have to be extremely mentally strong to not let that bother you.
I grew up in lansdale and am a lifelong birds fan. A big thing that also plays a toll is that Foles was already loved by eagles fans. The last we got to see of nick foles in a birds jersey was chip kelly shipping the entire team away. It wasnt just a backup, it was a guy the city didnt even want to see leave prior to wentz/bradford.
I feel like some thing that gets overlooked in the story is the fact that Nick Foles was the exact opposite and uneven quarterback during the regular season, but who could shake off a bad year or game and turn out. Carson was great at mastering a playbook and interpreting coverages, but he couldn’t shake off his mistakes and take advantage of the moment like an old gunslinger can. Nick Foles is a legend because of that Patriot game. It was something else to watch
My Mom was such a huge Nick Foles fan. After she moved to Tucson, she became a huge Wildcats fan, and she was thrilled with Foles Superbowl. Lost her recently, but still think kindly of the joy she got from that.
15:28 That Double Doink run was a run that almost had Philly in the Championship Game against the Rams. It’s that one Jeffrey drop that could have swung the game.
As a diehard Eagles fan I can say Carson Wentz it's one of the worst QB's I've seen in a long time. I haven't seen a player place so poorly since 1999 when Donovan Mcnabb was drafted. I'm talking about after he got hit by Jadeveon Clowney. That was a dirty hit and that truly ended his career he hasn't been the same ever since and unfortunately his career ended way to soon.
I feel you on that 60 yd kick. I'm an eagles fan and I specifically remember watching them play against Tampa Bay and Martin Gramatica lined up for a 60+ yarder for the win. The same guy who once injured himself celebrating a field goal, beat us on a career-long kick as Time expired. Heartbreaking.
Wentz had bad medical issues, that ACL surgery would likely include opiates... Which, for a High intellectual, can cause a fight or flight response, which will complicate his cognitive skills... add a concussion and the Storm becomes a Typhoon... this is why CTE is a problem with NFL players... Ask any concussion expert... these guys are groomed to Win, to Fight, He was fighting to play... Fighting His teammates, who chose to brand him selfish instead of compassion and Empathy, to help him through the depression these medications can cause... I Hope this can be a blessing to anyone who has suffered from a brain injury and can feel something is wrong, but You can't put your finger on it and YOU'RE Struggling... this should resonate with you!!! Praying for the Health and Well-being of Carson and Wentz Family... 🙏🏽 Bracha!!! And yes, I am a NDE/TBi Expert...
Sure. Financial independence is great. Winning is also great. Being a hero to fans is great. Having a legacy and being remembered... Great. This line of thinking is so reductive. You can want riches AND success. And plenty of athletes have achieved all of the above.
Wow, this is why a very wise man once said, "Do not be overly righteous, nor show yourself excessively wise. Why should you bring ruin to yourself?" I never knew all of this about Wentz...
A couple things come to mind. Wentz was on pace to throw 40 TD's when he got hurt, he would have easily won the MVP. Also when Foles was drafted he was doing great too with record setting games, he was supposed to win a Superbowl his first stint with the Eagles. It was ironic he came back and won it as the backup. Wentz definitely had a bad attitude, if your teammates hate you you better take a look in the mirror.
Gee! With Lauren feeling that bummed about the Giants loss to the Eagles, if she had been around in the 1970s, two aspects: 1. Giants tickets were easy to get. 2. Their seasons were so abysmal, she may have been tempted to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge.
I've been a Seahawks fan since 79. I KNOW MISERY!!! Playing for an Irsay is Misery. Sons not a Bad a Daddy, but that ain't saying much. The Irsays are Bitter Drunks who take it out on Their Teams.
As a Philly fan, watching Wentz and Ben Simmons both have an initial meteoric rise followed by them basically imploding side by side was tough to watch.
I just think Wentz's mind got blown when he got injured and had to watch Nick Foles become a league legend in his stead. Imagine having to come to work every day seeing that dumba** Nick Foles statue in front of the stadium. He put too much pressure on himself.
@@BoosterGoldEarth6definitely the fans and the organization killed his confidence he was never he same then you draft hurts that next year didn’t help him
Do you even know where it is? I'll give you insight because I know where it is. It's at the north entrance to the stadium. For him to see it every day, he'd have to go to turn the other direction on Broad (Novacare complex is on west side, stadium on east), park and walk through closed parking lots, and open a locked gate because you can't see it. On game day, players enter through the south. So he'd have to enter the concourse where the fans mingle. And to further illistrate how foolish your comment is. Pederson still has never seen it.
Carson had a prime set up, and when things went wrong he couldn’t recover. He’s stubborn. It used to be something we’d watch, like playing through injuries, where you think “man that guy has grit.” But quickly you find its massive ego, and that can be extremely toxic.
As a colts fan I'm still ticked off he sold us from not making the playoffs. All we have to do is beat the worst team in the league and win. But no we turn into a laughingstock because of that.
Shoutout to the unsung hero of this story: Jalen Hurts. Rescued us from post-Super Bowl Wentz purgatory, not a drama queen, keeps his head down and works hard, brought the Eagles to a Bowl, and may win one for us this year. That draft pick was yet another stroke of genius by Howie Roseman.
First off, very nice video. It’s clear you did a lot of research into Wentz’s career and what went wrong. Carson was incredibly stubborn in all the wrong ways. He was constantly hurt because he refused to try and protect himself, always taking unnecessary hits, sliding, or even trying to tackle defenders like he was still in college. Coaches also tried to get him to throw the ball away, check down, or just live to fight another down, but he never gave up on plays and would get sacked in the worst ways or throw mind numbingly stupid interceptions. He would also audible out of plays all the time to the point it was almost comical. As far as his mental toughness, it just seemed like he couldn’t handle adversity. If one locker room says you are stubborn, selfish, and don’t take well to coaching, then maybe you can chalk it up to a situation that just didn’t gel. When that occurs in three separate organizations, then it’s clear who the issue is. I think worst of all was the injuries. That acl tear in 2017 was actually more serious and he basically tore every ligament in his leg. Then he rushed back early next year because he presumably didn’t want to see Foles play for a period of time. The back injury doesn’t get talked about enough though. He had serious damage done to his back, and as anyone with back injuries can tell you, they are brutal to live with - let alone playing QB in the NFL. In the end it’s just really disappointing and a shame because Carson had so much damn potential. If he protected himself and didn’t sustain the injuries he took and listened better to coaching as well as trying to be a better locker room leader, he would absolutely still be a starter in the NFL today. The one thing that really hasn’t changed and might give him another shot one day is that Carson always had a ridiculous arm. Even with the injuries, he could still fire a bullet into tight windows.
As a lifelong Eagles fan, I'll always appreciate Wentz for helping to undo the catastrophe that was the horrible Chip Kelly era. Further, for being instrumental in helping to get the Eagles' first Super Bowl Championship. However, he was never the same after his torn ACL. In the season that followed, and ever since then, I was a huge proponent for having Foles replace Wentz as a starter. I remember getting into fights with fellow Eagles fans about this opinion. Then, as Wentz continued his downward spiral, I would sarcastically ask them, "is he still your man now?" If only the Eagles had returned to the Super Bowl after 2018 with Foles, then the Birds would have probably kept him. But yet, I guess it had to play out the way it did so that we could get Hurts. A few years ago, I finally bought myself a Wentz Eagles jersey... at a thrift store for 10 dollars.
Good video! Carson actually forced his way out of Philly. If he stayed with my Eagles, I don't know if we would have seen Hurts grow into our franchise QB.
@DarkKirby14LP The way I heard it, Wentz wanted out. I heard that from several sources. The Eagles took a huge cap hit. I actually wanted Wentz to stay. I still believed he could carry the team. In the end, it worked out since Hurts has become our franchise QB.
Giving credibility to anonymous sources is irresponsible as it isn’t confirmed whether such statements were made from any player. For all you know it could be the same source who leaked the DeSean Jackson gang affiliation rumors. Carson’s receivers were weak because to Howie Roseman made them that way. Carson broke an NFL record with a terrible receiving core and instead of rewarding him that clown decided to forgo on CeeDee Lamb as trading the second pick to move up meant he couldn’t draft Hurts. He then decided it was a good idea to go on national television and likening drafting Hurts to a time where he decided against drafting Russell Wilson. That distasteful and disrespectful act from a GM would alarm ANY QB especially given that the QB mentioned played for team who hit your starting QB with a cheap shot. Yet Wentz never said ANY thing foul about him even though he wouldn’t have been lying in the slightest. You don’t draft a backup and liken him to Russell Wilson PUBLICLY because you don’t draft a Russell Wilson to back up anybody. That move was a head scratcher for everyone that year. You don’t draft a back up that high with veterans in the FA pool who could AT LEAST serve as a mentor. In week 17 vs the Raiders, Carson left the field with the LEAD before the last ranking 4th Q Colts defense let Derek Carr carve them up with a kick to end regulation. I had season tickets and watched QB after QB take the lead with next to triple zeros on regulation. The Colts have notoriously had issues in Jacksonville. The Colts being one game away in a weird 17 week COVID season ABSENT training camp was very good. Carson Wentz had a passer rating of 94.6 with 3,563 yards, 27 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in 17 games in Indy. (not mentioned) Jim Irsay didn’t like him and unless he went 13-3 nothing was keeping him around. The talk about leadership in Indy is absolute bullshit. Leonard, Taylor, Kelly, and Pittman were all upset he was leaving. Frank wanted him and the GM and owner didn’t it’s as plain as that. As someone who personally knows Carson and has talked about everything from Philly to Indy to his foundation to 94WIP dude is a class act. What people don’t like about him is that his confidence doesn’t come from what people think about him so he doesn’t go out of his way to MAKE people like him. You either get him or you don’t and people who are people pleasers mistake that for arrogance. He’s met my family and we haven’t met a cooler, down to earth and self aware athlete.
At Indy you didn't know if you'd get hero Wentz or hero-ball Wentz. One drive, instead of just throwing it away he'll try to left hand throw the ball and a defensive lineman gets a pick 6. Next series he's prime Wentz and they score a TD.
One of my buddies went to NDSU with Carson and would play pickup basketball. Said Wentz would put on an absolute clinic in the gym. Just an incredible athlete. Goes to show you how devastating an acl injury can be.
As a North Dakotan, can confirm this would NOT have happened in 47 or so out of the other 50 states. Carson was… given EVERY opportunity to succeed and sometimes even did!
As a Chiefs fan, I see him on the sidelines with Andy during games. He seems content/at peace, and happy when the Chiefs do good things. I think he's finally been humbled, and I think he's one of the few back-up qb's in the league that could actually get the Chiefs through a playoff game if Mahomes wasn't good to go.
Im sorry your a giants fan, as a philly fan the 2017 season was such a great time for us, and finally we won a 🏆... that rams game changed him for rest of his career. As a eagles fan if we kept foles we couldve got 2 or 3 rings. But wentz and howie went another way... wentz was great but spoiled.

So true! Thanks for watching!

Came here to post this too.
The way they treated Doug was terrible, just terrible.
Yeah they should have never got rid of Doug. I remember how confused I was when they got rid of him
That always bothered me. We did bounce back and almost win another Superbowl though last year was awful
It ain't embarrassing for you to show emotions, Trust me that game also made me feel the same after seeing what rookie Wentz did.
I'm not a NDSU, Eagles, Colts, Redskins, or Wentz fan. I still think the man still got what it takes to be a starter for some teams. He's more mature and came back from the dead. KC made a great decision in signing him.
Lol thanks! And thanks for taking the time to watch!!!
He found the right agent tho
Once an athlete becomes broken mentally and begins to question their abilities, its nearly impossible for them to find "it" again. The few who have done it are usually among the elite
Imagine the feeling of getting benched for a rookie 2nd rounder QB that has no experience playing in the NFL as much as you are and then got traded in the offseason and has been playing for 3 different teams
We can talk about injuries, but Carson Wentz just didn't have the mental fortitude to be an NFL QB. He never found a positive way to handle adversity and seemed to be a case of small town kid who let big time success get to his brain to the point that he went out doing it "his way"
You’re right he’s not mentally strong

Dude had a serious Jeff George vibe. I remember a quote from one of George's O linemen who said he never got Jeff sacked on purpose, but when he did get beaten and gave up a sack, it didn't bother him nearly as much as it did when he was blocking for QBs he didn't despise.

Dirty hit for sure. Can’t believe it wasn’t even flagged
Very talented individual that was likely shortchanged some necessary bullying when he was growing up 🤷♂️
Eagles fan here- you did an EXCELLENT job with this- awesome work!
Them winning the Super Bowl with Foles was one thing, but building that statue and shrine and treating Wentz like chopped liver really messed with his mental
Yeah that made it seem like he was a bum & they was carrying him
The shrine was to give Foles confidence as nobody believed in him since he didnt play well before Vikings game.
The statue was a gift from Bud Light.
But I agree, mentally I wouldn't be able to overcome the scenario Wentz had to go through. He did the heavy lifting and Foles had all the credit. It took both of them to win that year.
Mirin the shrine was built in 2018 after the Super Bowl doofus

He probably could start for Arizona

Carson Wentz was definitely flawed with leadership, but he received too much blame for the Eagles 2020 season.
His receiving core was as follows:
1. Jalen Reagor (draft bust)
2. JJ Arcega-Whiteside (draft bust)
3. Quez Watkins (who Philly now understands is terrible lol)
4. John Hightower (99% of people probably don’t remember him)
5. Travis Fulgham (an Aaron Rodgers castaway)
6. Greg Ward (a college QB)
And I didn’t even mention how bad the o-line was.
People…..not a single one of these players are on the Eagles in 2024, who are making a championship run.
To make matters worse, I think only Quez Watkins has a job right now. Still, he’s buried on Pittsburgh’s depth chart.
I think most of it stemmed back to his days at NDSU; that school sport programs are easy to root against, no matter what team is playing against them.
Really? I don’t know much about them? What’s the deal with the school?

I honestly think that if Wentz stayed healthy in 2017, he’d probably still be a star QB but the Eagles wouldn’t have beaten the Patriots.
This is such an interesting hypothetical. I wonder what the ripple effect would have been on the rest of the league
Foles literally had 90 yard game winning drive vs best defense in nfl against the bears and was a drop away from beating the saints

THANK YOU AND WASNT FLAGGED
Turns out it was actually blaming the downfall of his career on everyone not named Carson Wentz
Since SetTheEdge has made less and less content, and KTO has always felt cheap, this channel is amazing! Thank you!
In 2017 Wentz had:
#1 QBR in NFL
#3 EPA
#1 PPG with him at helm
#1 3rd/4th down conversion
#1 tight window throw
23-0 in RZ (Currently in 2024 has one of the best RZ TD/INT ratio in NFL history 110 TD 6 INT).
33 TDs in 13 games
11-2 record
Pro Bowl
All pro
Won 2017 NFL POTY (Bert Bell) award as not only the best QB but the best player.

Crazy is (I love Hurts btw) Carson still holds the Eagles passing records and his best receivers were Jeffery and Agholor.
Most TD passes (2017)
Most yards (2019)
Best comp% (2018)
Scored a TD pass in all 16 games in 2019 (1st Eagles QB to ever do it and 3rd QB in history to ever do it).

Wentz headed back to the stadium and a reporter tagged along. Now, I don’t know if any other cities had a 4:30 PM news, but Philly did.
So they decide to do a live interviiew - and the first question was an utter softball (something like “How was your off-season?”
Remember, this is the afternoon of the day with the anti-gun violence workshop.
Now, Carson could give any answer he wanted to this reporter. What does he go with? How much he loves guns and hunting. But then he opens up his locker to show this reporter the two shotguns he had in there that he was “working on.” I
I don’t care that he likes guns, but read the freakiN room, buddy. Perhaps don’t valorize guns during a gun violence epidemic. He didn’t seem to care about anything that didn’t directly affect him, and seemed not to have much concern for the needs of anyone other than him. You can’t lead a team
If you only care about yourself.

I never knew all of this about Wentz...
Gee! With Lauren feeling that bummed about the Giants loss to the Eagles, if she had been around in the 1970s, two aspects:
1. Giants tickets were easy to get.
2. Their seasons were so abysmal, she may have been tempted to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge.
Even though I am a Chiefs fan, back in the early 70's I enjoyed watching Norm Snead play at QB for the "G" Men.
I've been a Seahawks fan since 79. I KNOW MISERY!!! Playing for an Irsay is Misery. Sons not a Bad a Daddy, but that ain't saying much. The Irsays are Bitter Drunks who take it out on Their Teams.
Pisarchek. Is that Right? Herman Edwards play. O m g that's the Worst Play
N E Patriots, the “Patsies” the 70s were tough ! But , well you know what happened. We stole the Jets coach, and TB 12 on the 6 round, pick 199 !
I never knew about the shrine and statue. I can definitely under how he felt
Thanks for watching!
Always fun to see a new Lauren video keep up the good work
thanks dan!!!
As a Philly fan, watching Wentz and Ben Simmons both have an initial meteoric rise followed by them basically imploding side by side was tough to watch.
I’m from Philly. Nick came in and changed Philly forever
Just seems like he was never the same after that knee injury, you know lauren
He was the same selfish no desire to win nasty looking loser from day 1
for sure
Good video keep up the good work
Thanks!
@@SheGotSports your welcome
I just think Wentz's mind got blown when he got injured and had to watch Nick Foles become a league legend in his stead. Imagine having to come to work every day seeing that dumba** Nick Foles statue in front of the stadium. He put too much pressure on himself.
Foles getting a statue is nasty work
@@BoosterGoldEarth6definitely the fans and the organization killed his confidence he was never he same then you draft hurts that next year didn’t help him
Do you even know where it is?
I'll give you insight because I know where it is. It's at the north entrance to the stadium. For him to see it every day, he'd have to go to turn the other direction on Broad (Novacare complex is on west side, stadium on east), park and walk through closed parking lots, and open a locked gate because you can't see it.
On game day, players enter through the south. So he'd have to enter the concourse where the fans mingle.
And to further illistrate how foolish your comment is. Pederson still has never seen it.
Facts🎉🎉🎉🎉
My first video watching of yours, I love how knowledgeable you are of the game, and you are absolutely adorable!!
Carson had a prime set up, and when things went wrong he couldn’t recover.
He’s stubborn. It used to be something we’d watch, like playing through injuries, where you think “man that guy has grit.”
But quickly you find its massive ego, and that can be extremely toxic.
As a colts fan I'm still ticked off he sold us from not making the playoffs. All we have to do is beat the worst team in the league and win. But no we turn into a laughingstock because of that.
IND lost both sides of the trenches, can't win that way
Wentz is poison and gets the least out of the team guys don’t play for him
@@AlexRosner-v8t lmao stop believing Ratshon's lies my guy
That team sucked you are lucky he had you in position
That same exact roster won the year before wentz doofus
0:29 scared me
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂I paused it at that point. Omg!
Triger Warning.
Bears.
Double Doink.
Completely forgot and caught me off gard 😂😢
Love these videos! Please do the rise and fall of Colin Kaepernick if you can! 👍 thank you
He gonna get a ring and make 2million on the bench for KC.
So I'd say. He's winning lol
As an huge eagles fan. Wentz helped us win that Superbowl a matter of fact he was the reason we got to the playoffs.
facts
Great Vid L! You've grown so much as a content creator over these past 4 to 5 yrs I've been watching you
Good video! Carson actually forced his way out of Philly. If he stayed with my Eagles, I don't know if we would have seen Hurts grow into our franchise QB.
his camp never asked for a trade. Stop believing Ratshon's lies
@DarkKirby14LP The way I heard it, Wentz wanted out. I heard that from several sources. The Eagles took a huge cap hit. I actually wanted Wentz to stay. I still believed he could carry the team. In the end, it worked out since Hurts has become our franchise QB.
Wentz is a virus
@@Scream358 his camp never requested a trade
Given the lack of help Howie gave him down the line and how everybody treated him like chopped liver, I’d wanna leave too
Giving credibility to anonymous sources is irresponsible as it isn’t confirmed whether such statements were made from any player. That distasteful and disrespectful act from a GM would alarm ANY QB especially given that the QB mentioned played for
team who hit your starting QB with a cheap shot.
Yessir totally agree
At Indy you didn't know if you'd get hero Wentz or hero-ball Wentz. One drive, instead of just throwing it away he'll try to left hand throw the ball and a defensive lineman gets a pick 6. Next series he's prime Wentz and they score a TD.
The QB HAS to be "selfish, egotistical and uncompromising"... because he gets ALL the credit for LOSING!!!
Nothing more cowardly than going to the media anonymously.
Lmao, the dogpack404 thumbnail

I remember that day we beat the Bears. For a whole week it felt like we had a chance at going back to back. It was euphoric.
