The Eride Pro-SS FAILED ME // high speed range test and breakdown
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 8 ก.ค. 2024
- I decided to go out and do a high speed range test averaging 50+mph to see what kind of results I’d get at those speeds. Turns out the bike has some weak spots when it comes to how the heat from the motor, controller and battery is distributed. The weather that day was in the high 50s to low 60s. I diagnosed the battery as the problem when I got home. I tried to plug in the battery as soon as I got back and realized it wouldn’t charge. I also noticed the battery was also pretty hot so I went ahead and let the battery cool down. After letting it cool for about 4 hours, I gave charging it another shot and it filled right up without issue. I went for another test ride and everything seemed back to normal. It was a little annoying knowing that this could happen but it was a lesson well learned.

Great video 1st video where someone really shows off the range an power
More to come!
Currently working on getting a list of all error codes from E-Rides as that doesn't seem to be published anywhere. Will update when I receive. Thanks.
Thanks for the video! I'll know to keep an eye on this now once my bike comes in. I appreciate you reaching out for the error codes as well!!

Update from E-Rides
it has happened but it is a rare occasion and it has to be ridden pretty hard for a long period of time. We are working the kinks out to eliminate these problems from happening in the future.
Your situation is sounding EXACTLY like my revv1. Better hope you don't end up having to replace every single part just for it to still be broken...
@@Husk2280hopefully not, luckily this was just a bms cutout and not a broken part
Hey I just purchased a new ss online. Are there any extended warranty options for these bikes?
@@1smacks116 I noticed that Voromotors is selling the ss and when I had my move cruiser they were very good on warranty issues. however after the year was over and 5k miles later they wanted to start charging which I then used my technical knowledge and made my own repairs. With their assistance and instructions.
The only problem with that response is that it was pretty cool outside, it would be worse if it was between 80 and 100 degrees.
Great video. You really put it to the test.
Good video man...u seem pretty smart for someone you're age and we're gonna need as many smart gen Zers as we can get!
Turning it on after unplugging it to completely drain it is brilliant
Kind of is. It’s like turning the gas off and letting your bike run to clear out the carb (on a carbureted gas bike)
Perhaps some 1/2" vent holes in the motor bash plate and/or around the controller will help keep the battery cooler? Good vid.
Great idea
Amazing video bro
Glad you liked it, thank you
Yep, same thing with my stealth bumer battery overheat and BMS shuts me down . Need to wait and plug the battery to wake up the BMS . So when you on the road make sure to have a charger and be able to plug it in for a second just to wake up the bms
👍
That's a bummer bud I rode mine hard wide open for a while no issues thank God let us know hopefully u get her fixed
everyone please MSG chi battery systems to make a 76Ah battery upgrade for pro SS .....if we keep bugging them , they will make it !!
I'm confident they'll make it considering how successful Erides has been lately
Aloha! Just got my Eride Pro SS Fatty Custom from Bike Factory Hawaii, thing rips. I appreciate the content, subbed my man! Yessah Blessah!
Thank you!
What brand makes custom Erides?
I just put my order from there , how was your experience and how long it took too receive it
Aloha! I was lucky enough to order at the right time. It took 8 days from Oahu to the Big Island Hawaii. After I unboxed and did my brief review, two of my homies ordered immediately. They've been waiting since then and will be receiving their bikes mid April. Just gotta be patient. If you jump out of the pre order line, you'd just end up in another line. These are in high demand right now. This thing is Action right out the box. Just hope you receive the newer version before the controller tune they just did, they also have ODI type number plate, light switch and things like that. Anywhos, All Aloha!
Do you take your bike up any steps it looks like you store it in the building I’m asking because I have like 8 steps to my basement back door not sure if it’s to heavy of a bike or not.
It's a heavy bike to pushup or down steps. Depending on how steep they are and what the spacing is, it's doable. If you have room in front of and behind them, you could always just ride up/down the steps.
@@Thrillowatt thx man it’s kinda steep but I think it’s possible with a little practice I appreciate the reply bro 😎.
Hey uh, I have a question
Can I use the E-Ride Pro SS as a normal bike and be at the bike lane or do I need a driver's license for it
This depends greatly where you live
Thanks! Saved me $5k
Good video bro! One question, do you have to do anything to unlock the full power of the ss, like snipping a wire or changing settings? Hoping it comes without having to do anything to it! Thanks and stay safe
Mine came full speed stock, I know they have been changing the bike a lot though
Mine came opened up from the factory. It's really a tall point of this bike
Thanks guys!
@@Thrillowattwhat about the brake and tilt sensors? For wheelies?
Nothing on this planet, manufactured by man, is 100% perfect. The best, most reliable cars have had recalls.
That said, based on the math (9.4 miles @ 59%) would have had you at around 23 miles of total range at that speed had your bike not shit the bed.
Had you kept it at around 50mph, you might have got 30miles out of it and made it home with no problem.
I also suggest that you at least add one mirror on the left side so you can see what's behind you on the road.
This is all good input
@@ThrillowattIt can't be driven to 0% battery though, right? Doesn't it cut out like above 10% or something?
What about the turbo button? Is this bike going to get a firmware update or something to have the full power in sport mode? I've seen a lot of videos of the machine, and somebody had to use the turbo button, while others didn't. This part is kinda confusing.
The turbo button used to give extra power but around January they unlocked that full power in sport mode with no need for the turbo button. Hope that answers your question
@@Thrillowatt Thanks a lot! One more thing. How did they unlocked the full power in sport mode?
@@MiHU_@MiHU_ it's simply a firmware update. Basically they told the controller to just use turbo mode as sport mode. Surronster just released a video that compares the old model to the new one. I found that pretty insightful
I think running damn near anything at full throttle for that long would cause problems lol. Did it start after everything cooled down?
Yeah, after I let it cool for about 4 hours the battery charged right up and everything seemed back to normal
@Thrillowatt Awesome glad to hear!
Hey! Just a question, do you know if this is the 1.0 or 2.0 model?
This is the 2.0 model
If Eride expects the Pro-SS to operate at high speed levels, for an extended period of time, they need to redesign the placement controller. Heat = Bad...Cool air = Good.
What was the distance you drove it?
Just saw this video. Dont know if you have one, but have you considering updating a new controller? It might work to help you go top speed.
I may have missed it but how far did you go before it overheated?
I wanna say between 25-30 miles
is there a way to properly break in a new bike???
There are some procedures like bedding in the brakes, tightening the belt and chain after they stretch out, tightening spokes and verifying correct tire pressure, and charging the battery to fill to balance the cells but besides that with electric, you don't have to do much!
You’re turbo still works if you have the latest released bike with the updated controller, I can hit 63mph. Only gives 2mph more but it is noticeable when you pin it then hit it. At least on my bike.
I must have a different version or something. My turbo button doesn't do jack
@@Thrillowatt i bet it does, put it on a stand and pin it, then hit the turbo, goes from 61 to 63. I have 2 ss pro’s and both do it
@@Thrillowatt i swear try it, put your bike on a stand and try. You should be able to hit 63 i can on both of mine
How fast without putting it on a stand in real world? Does your bike go??
@@robguzman4095 I’ve hit 63 a few times bud. Thats not gps just what the speedo says. I geared mine down with a 60t sprocket now and I hit 58-59
Good video. Ppl crack me up though saying junk or that’s why electric sucks! If you run a gas engine at its max rpm for to long it will over heat or “blow up”. Everything has a limit that can be exceeded in certain situations. I’ll take that bike outa the box over ANYTHING else on the market today!
What version is this no turbo button?
He has the light switch so its the updated version and turbo does still work but only adds 2 mph and takes it from 61 to 63pmh
this is the 2.0 version as @fiscustom5893 has pointed out. Although I can't tell a difference with turbo mode engaged. Even at top speed I don't see a difference.
a temp sensor on the battery that show on the screen so you can monitor when it overheats would be a good solution, then you can manage how long you can push it without this happening
I asked about this, unfortunately they Said it's not possible. Bummer. Would be awesome with an aftermarket controller and display
Is this the 2.0?
I knew this bike would have heat issues. Imagine if you rode this in Dallas Texas 90s 100s shit would be toast
We'll see this summer! I'll be down in Brenham
@@Thrillowatt Im sure it will be fine. If You pin anything for that long its gonna have problems.
Stay under 50 and you'll be straight even in the heat.
Great video showcasing the E-Ride Pro SS. 👍🏾. Can’t even go out for a peaceful bike ride ride without a dog chasing you! 🤦🏾♂️🙄. Shame about the power outage. 👎🏾
So true!
Do you still love your bike ?
Yes! I have just found one of it's shortcomings
mabye it is faster than talaria mx4, but the loss of power from 30% is something that would really annoy me
Honestly I dont see many people riding the bike like this at high speeds for long durations of time, so i dont think manyyy people will have issues with it however this is a good video in case anything ever does happen
time to add some air scoops for the battery and motor 😂
😂
Yeah, that sounds about right. I would just let off gunning it after 10 seconds and let it cool down for a few minutes. You rode it really hard for a while for it being air cooled. Haha.
Off road you wouldnt have that issue. The SS Pro says "dont take me out on the streets full throttle all the time. I'm not made for that". 😂
Good video, man.
Yeah these high power electric bikes don't like it when you pin in it for a while. Even the stark varg cuts out when exposed to that type of riding. Hopefully as technology improves we will see less and less of these problems.
@@Thrillowatt Really? The Stark Varg? I was thinking that was liquid cooled. For the price and amount of power it puts out, it should be. Agreed on the technology. It'll ofc improve. Along with the range!
Surronster has a video exposing th3 stark, you cant pin it much 😂@@WFMguy
@@oneway_stingIf they cool the battery, controller and the motor with a radiator like a Tesla, then sustained high speed runs would be possible.
@@falcosparverius1 Oh yeah. In my opinion it doesnt need it. Its an off road trail bike. Something like the Varg should have it though. Thats a high endurance motocross type bike. For the price, never mind what its meant for, they should have designed for a liquid cooling system. Bad business move.
E-ride did good though for what the bike is. Very good. What is it like $400 more for a 72v vs a 60v on the Sur-ron, better motor, slightly bigger for taller riders? Smart. Man I cant wait to get one of these damn things!
perfect example as to why I won't buy an electric bike. I really wanted to. But i'll stick with my go go juice!
All of the bikes from talaria and etc. do not like top speed tests without a break
I agree
Overall, how’s the Eride pro ss
This is why I like to wait for changes and multiple production changes, that way you're not stuck with gen 1 and all the issues.
Once they iron it all out I'll sell my mx4 and get this
That sounds like a good move
The battery overtemp worked as designed. There isn't anything wrong with the bike, based on it's design.
Had the batter not recharged after cooling down, totally different story.
This is rider error, in the same way had you rode it through deep water and it died on you. Yes, the bike has an IPX rating, but there are limits one should not attempt to push the bike in water.
Just in the same way that people that break major components were probably doing major stunts.
Something has to give, eventually.
Love how this video shows the pure power an speed ❤
Pro SS or Ultra Bee ?
pro ss fs
They are pretty different bikes for different use cases. If you have access to lots of trails and a way to get the bike there I'd say an ultra bee could be the one for you. But if you plan to ride on the street at all I'd say go with the Pro SS as it's a bit more stealthy and has a lesser chance of getting pulled over.
TEAM PEDALS
its like u hitting the limiter on a dirt bike for the whole time when u don't let off no shit this happened
It sounds like a freakin TIE fighter 😂
😂
They're sucking too much juice from the battery plain and simple. If you're looking for high performance pretty much every bike on the market needs a battery upgrade. Batteries are expensive so that's where most places cut their corners. Also, that's a dirt bike. Bikes like this are not designed for sustained high speed. Off-road trail riding and you're rarely full throttle for more than 10 or 15 seconds before you let off. There's not many places off-road you can do 60 mi an hour until the battery goes dead. I know you guys don't like to hear this but again... that's a dirt bike.
I agree wholeheartedly
Overheated
Yup
I don't think that bike is made to run at full speed all the time. In fact, no vehicle.
Erides are amazing, the fastest bike, just that Whining sound when you're cruising fast is completely annoying.
I agree. At first I thought it was controller whine but now I am pretty sure it comes from the motor.
I do not get how are you able to hear that sound and not get annoyed
Shit sounds awesome, people turn around and think its a jet flying down the road like wtf 😳
it sounds worse on camera , never bothered me a bit .......now my kx250 2 stroke and even kx 450f , that pisses my neighbors off
It's not too bad. Although on camera it's all you hear. You tend to tune it out when riding it.
quit a common thought to be brought up although in person experience it’s totally a different feel.
I’ve owned 2 MX4 and it’s not annoying at all i actually thought this to myself as electric “should” be quiet but… it’s enjoyable. You’ll find yourself playing w/the throttle like a child hahah
That's why dirt bikes are liquid cool so you can ride them all freaking day
True that! Everything has it's pros and cons.
Well after that video I am sure it is not worth buying it for mysel.
That may be true! Personally I see it as a shortcoming of the bike, however ultimately I love the bike and am happy with my purchase. See if you can ride one then make the decision for yourself. It sure is a fun bike.
so which bike is the best to handle over heating issue? and did you fix the problem 😊
@@drrmagneto4176there really isn't a solution besides upgrading the battery or just taking it easy. I'd still get this bike over the competitors though
Hahaha!! that’s why you buy Talaria! They have never had a major failure yet! I made the right choice…thanks for proving it
Different pricetag
@@user-jm7kc4bm8m yeah!! the talaria is cheaper!! and built better!
@grahambrown6709 time will tell!
@@Thrillowatt it already has m8 😂😂😂 ✋
Problem for me is I’m 240lbs and 6’3 so I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to get the full power and speed out of a talaria. Plus the ride is definitely cheaper at this point from what I’ve seen.
Click bait…ebike fires are not a joke
SO another excuse for not making there own range figures, get a real bike
I don't know how one would rather ride some cheap chinese electric garbage that has that annoying squeeling sound, over a 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine.
I guess the new generation is mostly messed up.
Don't get me wrong, I love my gas bikes. 2 smoker all the way. These electric ones are a blast though. So much low end torque and it's relatively quiet which allows me to ride all over campus. I will say though, the suspension is nothing compared to a "real" bike. Different bikes for different purposes I suppose.
Because they would, so shut the fuck up
Because they would, so shut the fuck up
Nice clickbait 👎
To be honest..This was frigging boring..You need to communicate with your Audience.. Better luck next time..
he litteraly doesnt need to. its his content he decides how he wants to make it
Thank you for the advice!
I didn't come here to hear the man talk I came here to watch this thing go
