Nice job! My Wife and I have two white Ranger’s and love them, I put plastic totes on the back rack with small First aid kits, little tool bags, flat tire repair and rain gear. I also put glow tape that reflex vehicle lights at night at different places on the bikes and our helmets. We live in Overgaard Arizona and have lots of dirt roads and trailers to ride on!!! Sweet - thanks! Very glad you got one. I'm up to almost 100 miles on mine, and I've had to tighten the LEFT Crank about 3 times, but other than that, and crashing down a ditch once from being an idiot - LOL - it has been an AMAZING experience. So very glad we got this bike!!!
I've gone 28mph, 32mph downhill on these. I got 2, 1 had a range issue and got a refund. then bought another 1. Customer sevice was pretty great. Has decent power, you can go up a pretty steep hill with a little pedal assist. I can fit 2 in my lexus gs350, 1 in trunk, 1 in back. They're very fun to ride, we take them to the beach, Venice/Santa Monica. It was the best bike I found for the price range. There's better e-bikes, but you're going to pay a lot more for a little bit more range or speed. Best bang for your buck. Just make sure to tune it up after assembly and break it in properly first day.

As for the bike, I'm 100 miles in and loving it still!!!
If you get a strange wobble while ridding, get out the provided alen and a box end wrench and tighten the left pedal - you'll get it when it happens to you...I've done it 3-4 times. I need to take it apart and put some locktite in there, I wonder???
@@BrianPhillipsRC that's kind of scary. Imagine that pedal coming off when you're really torquing it up a hill. That could do some serious damage to you or yours. Definitely put some Loctite on it and make sure that's the issue. Good luck man

I'm not heavier, I'm just real fat only by belly; it is best to get a higher wattage ebike for some being overweight like myself who converted my fat bike into a 1500W motor and a upgraded 1500W controller and became very fast and less pedalling going up steep hills from where i live at.
Your riding evaluation is very professional, and I hope to cooperate one day and also help our family to evaluate the bike😀

I want to tell you we've done 20, and we'll get there eventually, but we're only 2 deep ;)
This is by far better for US than the first one we did, but it's also more money. I just took it out to adjust my new windsock poles (Well, actually the fence it's attached too) and I was riding on SOFT, and a low point in the alfalfa field...no problems! I can't believe how well it does. Now that I'm getting up my courage, I've hit just under 27 MPH WITH PEDDLING!!! The light tips up and down - huge help. Our other, the Fiido D11, is way smaller, and I'm too big for it, if you really come right down to it, but it'll pack down even smaller than this one.
The FAT TIRES make a huge difference to me on this bike, but the breaks are still squeaky, and seem a bit lacking. I wish they were HARDER breaking, since with me and the bike going 27 mph, I want to be able to stop!!!
Also, steep inclines will overwhelm the motor, but this is a 500Watt motor issue, not this bike....
The ONE REAL issue on this bike, is the clearance of the pedals. I have now hit them making FAST corners multiple times. This hasn't caused me to crash yet, but I could see it happening.....so practice putting the pedals in the middle position on sharp turns, or put down the one that'll clear better. This seems almost a deal breaker, but it's just so dang good in EVERY other regard, that I'd feel unreasonable saying NO over this ONE detail.
These EBikes are CRAZY expensive at the shops...this would be the "economy price" at my local shop, but you can get almost all the features here for the price of the cheap one.
I do want you to be able to trust my/our opinion(s), but to be totally transparent with you, we make a really small percentage on these (I.E. we earn about 2-3 times more on planes...so it probably won't ever be our "bread and butter" here on Brian Phillips RC...this is just kinda a fun thing I LIKE too ;) - just don't want to hurt our reputation by being seen as anything less than totally above board here, especially as we're still in our infancy with regard to EBikes. I tell you this, since I know you're a regular, and don't want you to think I'm trying to "sell you" - We firmly believe the fact that these MFG's send US a product, they think they have some good stuff (but also, I think some of them have NO idea the way we'd tear it up, if it wasn't - LOL)

I've had to tighten the left pedal three or four times, but other than that, I've crashed it down a hill once, minor damage to ME, but bike okay (I was being an idiot - of course) and we now have 79 miles on it, all from back and forth in or very near to our property....I'm ready for another one for Megan!!!

I am a bit mechanically inclined & the smaller wheel size has its trade offs. Ground clearance is lower & pedal position is more important at times ,but that will become automatic & second nature with time & practice. But the smaller dia rims & tires mean more torque & power for off road,hill climbing & greater weights or a combo of those things. It will have more torque & battery life off road then taller wheels,,on hills & with greater weights. Where as taller tires will have more life on long hauls on road in less hilly conditions & less life on hill,off road & with more wieght. It's about gear ratios. The bike incorporates several different gear ratios including hub motor to wheel diameter. None of that is a constant either unless you are going full electric? It's all variable as to how much & hard you pedal assist,what & how well the operator uses the 7 speed gear selection & how well you play the hills & landscape. One question I have been harboring & hoping someone,a review or manufacturer might mention,but has yet to happen is? If I'm full out eletric & really huffing the pedals too in 7th gear on a down hill grade & I easily hit max speed, "does the eletric motor cut out, stop using any battery & free wheel without drag so I can hit wild speeds just pedaling on steep down hill grades." I was a hardcore athlete & serious biker & 60mph down hill on my pedal only 12speed Italo Stella was not at all beyond me,neither was long term sustained speed limits of 55mph,on level high ways. Passing cars on level ground in 40 & 45 mph speed zones was common place for me during work outs ,commuting & pleasure rides. Since my accident, I no longer snap brand new racing grade pro stock chains taking off from a stand still in say 6th gear. A broken back tends to mess with you. But I still retain my handling skills at high speeds & impeccable balance & technique. Basically, if I can't hit speeds that will kill me quickly & humanely should I wipe out,then I'm probably not sold.
I own a HeyBike Ranger (white version).... l am an experienced roadcyclist but NEW to E-BIKES: so l have quite a "learning curve" to contend with...especially with the electronic interface . After a couple of weeks riding the Ranger with friends offering helpful tutorials l am enjoying the versatility ans usefulness of this bike A LOT around town..... and l am finding it to be a good compliment to the more intense fitness/training rides l continue on my trusty long-beloved roadcycle.

As a mountain bike guy, it's actually a lot easier to put the pedals on from the back of the crank with the Allen wrench. And pedal torque requirements are measured in ogga boggas. 🤣

Do you think this bike would be good to deliver food in a city setting ? I would probably need a second battery but as far as take off speed throttle only do you feel it would get me in and out of streets and business . With the battery and motor it has it seems like it should be. Thx
I don't see why this would be a problem. Rack would help give you a place to put stuff, and you can get a front rack too, if I remember right (follow the links, and you can see different options).
I do suggest, if you're a bigger person, to consider the EXPLORE. It's bigger and FASTER. Might help with deliver times.

Amazing video! just one comment about the foot dragging thing. Level Pedals are a huge thing for me because i am a mountain biker, but either way i think your feet would not hit the ground if you had level pedals. the reason i do this so much is because if you have one foot that you are resting on, and you go over a rock, you are falling over or loosing balance. just my 5 cents (inflation). anyway, i loved the vid and will eventually buy one.
Thanks Jordan. We also reviewed the Explore, which is WAY better for pedal clearance, but also a lot more expensive and heavier bike. Glad I wasn't crazy about my comments about the pedals.
Even when I've been just ripping it up around the house, which seems tame, but you've seen our yard ;) - I've even run my foot into the front wheels! I guess if you try hard-enough, you can hit your feet on about anything - LOL ;)

Can you add another battery to this bike for double the range and power?
You could BRING another batter for more range. Just swap them out when first battery gets low. There is room on the rear rack and capacity for to bring one more along, even at my weight.
The way this bike and MOST are setup, I don't believe you can add another battery in parallel (for more range), but I KNOW you can't add them in series (for more POWER from higher voltage), and even if you could, the controller and motor are not rated for that much more power.

Hey did you have any problems witht the seatpost dropping while riding like other youtubers with this bike
I kinda torqued the quick release down like a crazy person, assuming it might slip...so no, but if you only tighten it to a "normal" tightness, as I have experienced on MANY other bikes given my size and weight, it may slide down, but I don't remember a time where it tried to slip down on me while riding. HOWEVER, I DID have this happen, except WAY worse on another Fiddo, when the entire seat CAME OFF!!! It was only held onto the battery with a couple screws, and a small glob of glue. On that bike, the battery was the seat post. I was admittedly OVER the weight limit, and trying to half pipe the ditch - LOL - that was stupid ;) I fixed it with 1 hour epoxy and put the two screws back in, and haven't had an issue since...not that I do any more half-piping with it - LOL

500 watts is not necessarily 500 watts. 500 rated is not peak. Multiply the battery voltage by the controller amps will give you the max watts the bike can push. A 48 volt battery with a 22 amp controller can push up to 1000 watts. If that had a 36v battery and a 14 amp controller max would b peake 500w. That's why they restrict the speed on them out of the box.
I wish the Chinese would just report specs more clearly. Heybike is one of the best brands we've worked with, but still, ambiguity in reporting motor and esc capabilities is just frustrating for me, as a technical guy. This EBike is nice, even though it's small for me, it's been a GREAT choice!

Not 100% sure. If you need it repaired, I'd go to a bike shop close by. They use high quality name brand components. I've had to make a tweak here and there, and got he breaks working 100% better now. I LOVE THIS BIKE!!!!! I only wish I had one with 26" X 4" since I'm a big guy...this would also resolve the clearance issue on the pedals.

stand up when you go off road you have more control and if you go faster also better control and if you look further ahead not at your front wheel you will have fewer problems!

Camera is hard to point where I'm looking correctly - LOL - but 100%. This bike is AMAZING!!! I've literally ridden it so hard I had to re-tighten the right pedal arm 2X!!! I only wish the ground clearance were more, and 26" X 4" wheels....would make it look CORRECT for a guy my size...or at least MORE correct ;)

How tall is your "camera crew"? Inseam? can you replace seat post with shorter post?
She is 5’8” so it’s not for us short people. I’m 5’3” and lowest seat position comes to my tailbone
I'm partly disabled but I'm 5ft. 1 in.would I be able to ride it and how much it cost?
Check the cost by following links (the link is in the description right at the top). Partially disables would be the factor, not 5' 1", in my best estimation. This one is small enough for my son to ride, and my daughter, but they're both growing. The seat can be made to go up or down with relative ease. I don't see why a 5'1" person would have too much trouble using it, but if your partial disability precludes you from stepping through the frame, that might be the tougher challenge to overcome.
The nice part, in regard to your partial handicap, would be that you might just use the throttle, rather than peddling...but again, I don't want to tell you it will work, since I don't understand your situation. I assume you've watched the whole video, but most don't...we show a lot more than average, so hopefully this might help, if you really need to investigate further.

Jonathan, I'm 6' 1" if that helps give you some perspective. If you're a bigger guy like me, you might want to check out the Explore. It's a much better fit for my size and definitely my preferred ride.

What’s your weight and height? I’m 5 10 270
I made a horrid mistake! When unboxing I accidentally cut the wire to the front-light. It’s no longer a part of the wiring assembly. Can someone tell me the front-light and throttle operate from the same wiring? I tried to do a trace on the throttle and it leads to the cord I cut. I’m hoping I’m WRONG and somehow not tracing the line correctly. Help me someone if you know the answer.
My light is separate from the throttle. Have you gotten it powered up?
@@BrianPhillipsRC Yes, I have powered up. I was initially hesitant about continue to assemble in case I needed to purchase the whole wiring assembly. Eventually I did assemble the bike. The only non functioning part is the front-light. Though I am having a time trying to shift gears to lower than 3. I’m okay at the loss of the front-light. I can always purchase a headlamp. Thank you for responding.

Why couldn't the folding bikes and the regular bikes all have fat tires that would be better and they should have water bottle holders on the bike
The fat tires are really heavy compared to thinner options, would be one big reason, but I for one, LOVE the fat tires!!!
I cannot find anything anywhere about the Heybike Ranger having Cruise Control? Every other e-bike either has cruise conrol via pushing and holding a certain control button, or simply by maintaining the same speed for 8 seconds and then it activates cruise control automatically. Weir that nowhere in the owners manual or any revie videos anyone is mentioning anything about it. Is it really possible this e-bike doesn't have it? Thx
Mine doesn't!!! I was amazed by this too. I think it's because of the higher than usual speed.
I will report back if I find a way, but I can't figure it out, if it exists. Even my scooter has one!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Hi, Thank you for letting me know. I apprecciate it. I have found one video in the meanwhile here on TH-cam and have also commented on it because it didn't really make sense to me what the guy said. He responded on my comment and once again claimed it's supposed to work as he described in his video. I have to mention though, that the video of this guy was not in particular for the Heybike Ranger, but for any bike using the"Yolin YL80C" Display computer (which is the same as the Heybike Ranger Display). So here it goes: Power on the bike/display > while standing still press and hold the plus button for 3 seconds, and the Heart symbol should come on (that's what's not really making sense to me) > this way the cruise control is supposed to be on > now when you're actually driving the bike throttle only, hold the throttle, maintaining the same speed for somwhere in-between 5 - 8 seconds and that should set the cruise control at this very speed or position the throttle was. That's it. For me personally it's weird with the heart symbol being the inticator for turning on the cruise control, but hey, that's what this parson says. I do not have a Heybike Ranger yet, so I cannot try this out. I need to know upfront if this bike has cruise control, because witout having this feature it's a deal breaker for me and I won't purchase one. Well, maybe you try if this all of the sudden gives your bike cruise control? Good luck

They said they would cover parts under warranty however regular wear such as rotors and brake pads you’re on your own and What happens after the 2 year warranty 🤷🏾♂️ that’s why I’d like a parts list so I can simply order what I need. That’s not to much to ask for with a $1400 dollar bike. 😊
Brian be careful. You haven't killed yourself with the paraglider (yet) so now you're pushing your luck with the Heybike. Can you do a recording on the switch setup for example on the NX6 or NX8 for example what which would be used for motor cut off for example. In other words, is there a uniform setup so if you pass your transmitter to someone else. will the controls be the same?
I do this on every radio setup video (Throttle Cut - I use and most use "H" - top Left Switch)

This one would work - no problem. My wife is about 5' 8" and she's totally fine, but also our oldest son, 5' 4" rides all the time. Now the EXPLORE might be a bit too large for you, but this one, the RANGER, would be totally fine.

Actually, I don't know. I think you go into the SETTINGS menu and there's a RESET in there.
Is it as loud as it sounds?
It's not totally quite, but mostly from knobby tires in my experience.

Can this hey bike be made right here in America why can't we get American made stuff that's going to outlast anything else and why can't hey bike have all different colors not just for folding bikes but for regular hay bites
Probably because stuff made in America is too expensive for the average American consumer. We have to pay a much higher labor rate, and higher material cost, as well as more regulation and much more taxation, therefore, most companies will go where they can bring an item to market for a more competitive price, and improve their odds at finding success. Keep in mind, we make a lot of product that goes to China, but there is quite a trade defect, and it does cost America a lot.
Might I suggest starting a bike company, if you'd like to see them made here? We would love to review your excellent product on our channel when you get your first prototype built!

You CAN or cannot. It's just depends on how much you want to help - that's why it's so nice!
Looks like peddling becomes a factor in more off-road and hilly situations, which is to be expected.
On top of that a lot of state laws limit the power and speeds of electric bikes in order for them to still be classified as bikes suitablefor road use and bike paths. Once you get over a certain threshold of power and speed different laws and requirements for selling, purchasing, and operating go into effect.

You can get them without fat tires, and that's cool. The Fat tires are also very heavy, if you don't need them, don't get them. Additional weight and expense...save them both, and get something that's a better fit for you. This bike is very nice, for what it's worth, and if you think it's uggo, there's a lot of other great choices. Fat tires do make a lot better ride too, if you're not already aware.

Was this a freebee or did you purchase this? When I watch products reviews I want an honest opinion, not just someone claiming it's a good product because they got it for free....
We make reviews for many companies. When I review a plane, do you trust me? We're like the TH-cam equivalent of proctologists. We find and share the problems...so when these companies hit us up for a review,I suspect that some think we'll do what you accused us of, "jokes on them"....and it's pretty insulting that you think we can be "bought" that easily...we're WAY more expensive. If these guys wanted to "buy" a commercial, they'd be paying a hell of a lot more than a free bike or plane. Use some common sense! Look at where we live. Look HOW we live...do you think we're doing it for "FREE" stuff???
As for trustworthiness being impossible if it was a "freebie", you can ignore the last EVERYTHING you've seen on this channel in the last 5 years....if that's true.

''Which bike would work best for me.'' I need one for the 500-mile Camino from France across northern Spain. But I think I'd need a stronger motor & or battery, as I'm heavier than you plus 72 years old and have a backpack of about 25 lbs. It's a hiking or walking trail and & there are a lot of roads too. Other people use ''Rain Proof E~Bike's, bicycles, and horses too. It's for everyone who chooses to go. Time will not be a factor so 5 up to 20 miles per day would work for me. I'll sleep and charge the bike at night. Using a Hostel with beds every night in towns or cities one after another for the 500 miles.
I've only put 100 miles on mine so far, and can say that what you want to do may require a pretty insanely nice bike!
To be honest, this bike is great for what we do with it, but I couldn't imagine peddling this particular model on such a long journey, since you would HAVE to peddle...I pretty much use it as a motorcycle, and only pedal to help get out of the hole quicker, or in rough terrain. You will have to charge more often that you might expect, and won't keep up with most hills of any significance, without hard pedaling. I'd find a bike with LARGER TIRES (20 is just fine for us, but I still WANT 29" X 4" for a bike. Also you might need a 750-1000 watt motor to help with hills...especially since you're heavier and carrying a 25 lbs bag. I'm about 285 lbs as dressed in our video, fyi...
So expect to doll out some serious cash if you want to hit all your goals, but in a more "standard" trip, you will LOVE this bike. I sure do!

We know that now. :) This was only the 2nd ebike we ever had and now it's perfect for our daughter. Anymore, we don't get a bike that's less than 1,000 watts.

Hope we can help you avoid getting the wrong bike for your body type, but my wife does ride it and she can get on fine. She's similar in height. You should keep in mind, with the open center, you might find that you can slip forward and comfortably, then control the bike until you're ready to set off again. Might not be as bad as you think.
It's a girls Bike it doesn't have upper cross bar.

The bike power suck I want my money back
If you want more power, the The Hey Bike EXPLORE is better, but still only takes you to 28 MPH...and they seem to lose power up hill, especially if you're my size, and 300 lbs! You have to spend some crazy money to get an EBike that'll take you up hill with acceleration (unassisted - not pedaling).

I'd have to disagree!!! The fatter the better ;) These 20" wheels are a bit small for me...I love 26" wheels and we've had up to 4.8" fat tires. They are even better!!!

It's not for everyone. I prefer bigger frames, since I'm a big guy, but if you're shorter, or lighter, it's a pretty awesome bike! It does store nicely too, since you can line up the handlebars down the length of the frame.
