How To Replace A Water Pump (Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep 3.6)

  • In this video, I am giving a step by step repair tutorial on how to replace the water pump on a 2013 Dodge Challenger. However, this water pump set up can be found in other Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep vehicles that have the 3.6 Engine.
I'd rate the skill level needed to complete this job as intermediate. With 10 being the hardest, I'd give a 3.5 rating.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN : Make sure the car has cooled down completely. Working with the cooling system can be dangerous and you can get severely burned by the hot antifreeze. My rule of thumb is waiting about 45 minutes to an hour before you began.
Tools Needed: Simple Socket Set, Pliers, 3/8 Ratchet (Manual or Electrical) & Shop Rags.
If you have any questions pertaining to this job, feel free to ask in the comment section. If I was able to help you out in this video, "hit that like button" and consider subscribing as there will be more repair tutorial videos to come!
    Thanks for watching,
    -Alex

Let me start by giving Alex the respect he deserves 👏. I have fixed several things on my 2013 dodge charger because of his step by step videos. The oil cooler, intake gaskets (upper and lower), spark plugs and coils, fuel pump, and now the water pump. I want to say thanks Alex for putting out good videos and information and if you ever need something I got you. My next project is the lifter which I believe are making a tapping noise the vehicle has 208,000 miles on it but has been very reliable.

My car is a 2011 dodge avenger 3.6l v6 it's been overheating quite a bit. But after it gets so hot on the highway it'd eventually kick back down. Like a defective thermostat. First thing I did was replace that. But nothing changed. However after still driving it a few days. It's gotten to the point where it'll be fibe around 55 and under, but once u get up past 65mph. It overheats doesn't release the cap tho and dump pressure. But literally as soon as I slow down. It goes back to normal Temps. I'm thinking it's not getting good enough flow ie defective/bad pump. Or a clogged system is my guess. Just curious if you have had something similar happen to you? It's very confusing!
