No,no need to remove any mounts. It's a tight space to work on but it's possible to remove it. Just take your time and take a deep breath once in a while lol
It should be good just with the gasket. Did u put all the bolts in? I guess u can try to add some gasket maker ....but make sure it's leaking from there....double check the hoses just in case
Did you clean your mounting surface? Did you follow torque sequence and spec? If there's pitting on the surface, use sealer. The right amount, not way to much like most people. It's most likely a installer error.

Water pump is still leaking after we replaced it. Do we need to put sealant on the gasket ?
