Hi Taj, I have an issue with a handbrake warning light that will not reset on my V250 and the handbrake would not come on. I have since replaced the disc, pads and shoes and found the handbrake lever on the end of the cables seized but easily fixed and lubricated them. In handbrake replacement mode it was possible to put the handbrake on and off. Taking it out of pad replacement mode the handbrake does not come on and there is still a warning light up. I don't think there is anything physically wrong now but don't know how to reset this warning light. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Kenny

2016 cla250
I accidentally engaged parking brake with caliper off. Piston stuck out and cannot get it to retract. Tried manually with 7mm hex key, won’t fully retract. Started car and parking brake light flashing red “see owner manual”, can’t do anything else…

Got a fault on my infiniti q30, emergency brake inoperative. Any ideas how to reset this? Dash is the same layout as this mercedes.
Hi if it’s inoperative then there is an issue so I would suggest you have it checked possibly might only need resetting..
i have a 2008 acura tl. everytime i turn the AC on it makes a sound. kind of like a paint can bottle rattle when shaken. Also the same sound comes on while i press the gas pedal. the loudest is when i turn on the AC. any idea what it could be?
If the compressor pulley bearings are failing, they can make noises, generally a grinding, roaring or squealing noise. So I would get that checked

Ok I think that’s because either your door is open while selecting so make sure all doors are closed and switch ignition ON select neutral and the. switch ignition OFF or leave ignition ON while towing. Hope this helps

Hi mate I got the alloys changed on my cla and the orange handbrake light has been on ever since. The guy said the sensor might’ve got pushed out of place. Should I try this?
Hi the orange handbrake can not be disturbed while replacing wheels so I would try this procedure and if it doesn't work then have it plugged in at your local garage. Also check the tyres and see if you have wider tyres on the back like some Mercedes do. Check the brake pads and brake fluids level make sure they're good too. Thanks

Hi I’ve had a look on autodata and there is no option for switching the electronic parking brake off...
My electronic handbrake cannot be disengaged. It is currently in the parked position and cannot be disengaged- please advise.

Hi it may need updating so I would suggest go to Mercedes because they have all softwares and I think they would just charge you diagnostic fees.. thanks 🙏🏽

Activate service mode:
Ensure all doors, boot and bonnet are closed.
Turn ignition key to position I.
Ensure odometer is displayed, if not: Repeatedly press down arrow button until odometer is displayed Fig. 130906.A or Fig. 1192840.A . Repeatedly press left arrow button until "Trip" is displayed Fig. 130906.B or Fig. 1192840.B .
Press and hold telephone button Fig. 130906.C or Fig. 1192840.C .
Within 1 second : Press and hold "OK" button Fig. 130906.D or Fig. 1192840.D .
After approximately 5 seconds: The menu options "Vehicle data", "Dynamometer test", "Change brake pad" and "ASSYST PLUS" will be displayed in the multifunction display. Release telephone button and "OK" button.
Repeatedly press down arrow button until "Change brake pad" is highlighted Fig. 130906.A or Fig. 1192840.A .
Press "OK" button Fig. 130906.D or Fig. 1192840.D .
The message "Move to assembly position" will be displayed in the multifunction display.
Press "OK" button Fig. 130906.D or Fig. 1192840.D .
The message "Assembly position reached" will be displayed in the multifunction display.
Switch ignition OFF.
Remove ignition key.
Draw off sufficient brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir to enable rear brake caliper pistons to be reset.
Resetting
Deactivate service mode:
Turn ignition key to position I.
The message "Assembly position reached/Exit assembly position" will be displayed in the multifunction display.
Press "OK" button Fig. 130906.D or Fig. 1192840.D .
The message "Assembly position exited" will be displayed in the multifunction display.
Press "OK" button Fig. 130906.D or Fig. 1192840.D .
The menu options "Vehicle data", "Dynamometer test", "Change brake pad" and "ASSYST PLUS" will be displayed in the multifunction display.
Press back button Fig. 130906.E or Fig. 1192840.E .
Switch ignition OFF.
Remove ignition key.

Hello mate I have a w221 S320 that doesn’t have the pad replacement on the menu. You’ve pulled up. Where would I find it please ?
Hi unfortunately you won’t be able to do it through steering but only by Diagnosic equipment 2005-2009 and with regards to replacing the pads you don’t not diagnostic mode as it has separate shoes for handbrake. Unless you wanna change the shoes then you will need diagnostic tool.
Emergency release The emergency release tool is located in the luggage compartment. To release the EPB:
Ensure automatic transmission in 'P'.
Chock rear wheels.
Open fuel filler flap.
Remove protective cap from emergency release cable Fig. 113739.1 .
Fit emergency release tool in clockwise direction until fully engaged with emergency release cable Fig. 113739.2 .
Firmly pull emergency release tool Fig. 113739.2 .
The red EPB warning lamp in the instrument panel will flash and a message will be displayed in the multifunction display.
The EPB actuator will automatically be reset when the EPB switch is next operated.
Hi the pads and discs have been replaced now the parking brake screeching and failing regularly. Garage had car and they had to redo it once because of EPB failing. So a menu reset or through diagnostic tool? (They don’t have star diagnostics I know that).
@@akumass1 hi if they forced it then you might have serious problem because to remove the disc you need to adjust the shoes through the bolt hole but it’s only possible when the handbrake is deactivated through diagnostic or emergency release. Try using diagnostic tool because steering feature not available for this model. Thanks

Wouldn't it just be enough to release the parking brake?
Good question. Short answer, no, you need to do a full release. I've had to do this on a few Audis. My understanding is the auto parking brake system moves along with the worn pads and rotor. So it releases say 1/8 of an inch from rotors. But with worn pads and rotors, the gap is not enough to fit in the new pads and rotors, which are of course thicker. At least this is my novice understanding.
Why don't you pump the brakes before you reset the handbrake ?
