Great video! Great presentation style! It is a lot of steps and disassembly but this video made it easy. One question: When tapping in the seals, should they be tapped in to just below the surface of the cavity where they're seated OR tapped until they won't go any further (against the bearings)? The reason I ask: I took the latter approach and I think the seals are now overly compressed. Thanks.
I know a lot of people enjoy tinkering with things like this, I just wanted to get back to cutting grass not getting a doctorate in small engine repair. Thanks for the video I'm going to the store and buy another trimmer.
@@tomstelzpflug9190 They sure do. You throw it away and people with more patience take it home for free and fix it for a few dollars and flip it for a profit.
@@Polaris425 the new carb arrived yesterday. I haven't installed yet, but I hope it's a solution. If it doesn't work, then I'll have to trash the trimmer. :(
Guy's nobody is lost the video is just 22mins tops. While doing pause go eat something come back have the video paused and you're going in time with him. The only thing is for the Crankshaft and Cylinder Housing the 5 Screws involve 3 for the crankshaft the 2 for the cylinder. Put a little Loctite on them not much on the tips all 5 please. When that machine starts to work in it full Glory or Potential vibration steps in There will be air coming in between the cylinder and crankshaft housing very soon it will be rebuilt again buy once you follow the steps all is well🤠🙏🏾
Taking it apart and putting it back together is actually quite easy. You can actually cheat a little bit when replacing the oil seals. Once take off the flywheel and starter cup and have access to both seals, get yourself a wood screw and drill it into the seal and use pliers to pull on the screw and out comes the seal. To install the new seals, oil them and get a deep socket that fits the seal and push it back on. After that just reassemble it and you're back in business.
It would be cheaper just to buy a new SRM 225 because if the average person can't do this the shop will overcharge them for something that looks so simple 😉
Zero, and I mean ZERO people ever did this. This would take days to accomplish, and would probably ruin the weedwacker, as something would definitely go wrong.
I'm watching because I'm about to do this to mine. I just can't let a simple 2 stroke engine defeat me! If I can't fix it, well I've lost nothing but a few bucks for the seals and maybe i have learned something. I'm hoping it works for me.
@@thomasauto4862 Exactly! I replaced the carb and gas tank on my Troy Bilt two stroker 2 seasons ago, and it worked great but now, there is a leak and only recently it's not revving up and I can feel a touch of a wiggle of the motor in its housing and not starting up easily either. So am investigating online to see where to look and after I recover from surgery tomorrow, I'll investigate for real.
Yeah, real easy. Just follow these 600 simple steps!
🤣🤣🥵
Hahahahajja
Exactly what I’m thinking!
great video man. such a cool, calm and efficient rebuild. A couple handy video cuts, but overall a great service to us diy-ers. thank you

How do you take the key out of the crank shaft?
Best video by far. Thank You’ll and for parts to
Could I tell if my trimmer needs this cause it’s leaking puddles of oil from the bottom of the gas tank on my srm 225

Those tinkerers make money off people like you
@@BahnGop they don't make money off of people like me. The price was $130 to repair $180 machine. Unfortunately China put tinkerers out of business.

Now split the neutrinos using your partical accelerator to access the gluons...
If it's easy to repair...how much to fix mine?
Wow! Very detailed. Thanks!
If these seals are leaking, would the fuel be leaking out of the vents on the bottom of the clutch housing? (Just above the shaft)
I'm having the same issue with mine. I think it's running down from the muffler. Did you find a solution?
@@jasweb147 No I never figured it out. I only put enough fuel in it to do the the work I need to do so that it's not sitting with fuel in it.
@@Polaris425 So you still have the black oil running down? It gets all over my clothes.

Basically,
take the whole damn thing apart lol.
Well the crank doesn’t live outside
Great class 👍👌
It’s best to order parts first and then do the repairs if you don’t do often
I got oil in the air filter, that could be the problem
I think this guy is a robot. And he only fixes engines that are brand, never started, new.
It’s quite simple, takes the whole thing apart
After watching this video and it seems it's a common fault with the oil seal on the echo strimmer. Mine is now in a skip. Switching to stihl.

That 'gap' tool is $16 on Amazon... what a joke! Great video thank you
That's not easy
Yeah, I'll just buy some parts and make my own trimmer.
Came here thinking it was an easy fix, holy piss I have to take every part of the machine off and put it back together.
Hahahajajajajaja 😂

why do all repair videos never actually fix something and take apart brand new stuff. other than that good video
Likely to show basic maintenance on a clean engine. This engine looks like it has run (just enough for the factory tuning).
If they only made repair videos if it broke, then you may not get the video you need since it may not have broke yet.
I'll just buy another trimmer.
Pussy
Really all this for one plastic piece wow 😄🤨😒

No you're not...easy fix lol..I'll just take mine to the shop
I just buy another one. I buy refurbished ones. They work amazing. 50% off
Watch your mouth please.
pretty much throw away due to cheap build. that's the throw away society we live in
Id rather spend 200.00 on a new one..lolol
