  • Common Rail Diesel (CRD) injectors live in very harsh environments and have to cope with fuel pressures of up to 30,000 Psi, with very precise operating conditions. No wonder they sometimes fail!
    Some symptoms of injector failure can include, rough running, long starting times, excessive smoke, excessive fuel usage and harsh engine knocking noises.
    In this video, solenoid type injectors are being replaced to remedy symptoms including some listed above.

    2 years later and very useful. Great info. Any bolt with a torque + deg is a stretch bolt and should be replaced. Your information and details make this a less daunting job.

      I'm glad you found the information useful.
      Yes, the 'torque to yield' bolts should be replaced if they have gone past their 'elastic' measurement into the 'plastic' measurement. There will be specs to show the allowable amount of stretch. But, yes, a good rule of thumb is to replace them each time. 👍😉

    G'day Max.
    Thanks for this video. I had the right balance shaft seize in my MN 4D56 Triton which broke the belt which jammed the timing belt which bent the valves etc. I am in the process of removing the engine to replace the shafts and take the head off for reconditioning. I was nervous about dealing with the injectors as I have had no prior experience with them but your video has given me confidence that they will be no problem. At least I now know what consumable parts to replace and how to correctly do it. I assume there is no mapping etc required when the original injectors are replaced?
    I hope you keep the Triton videos coming. I am willing to go the full nine yards to get mine up to scratch again as it is a great vehicle.

    • @MiracleMAX
      @MiracleMAX  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Catch cans are used to separate oil, hydrocarbons, soot and condensation from the crankcase gasses. This leads to cleaner recirculation of the crankcase gasses & hopefully less build up of carbon deposits. Consider subscribing for more videos that might interest you.

    Fantastic tutorial, I have full confidence after watching your videos.
    I've just installed my new genuine injectors, not sure on the torque settings for the banjo bolts on the return side, I've fitted new washers, and ave a technical sheet with torque values one stating- injector pipe unions at 35+/-5 NM is this for the supply side, both sides, or the backless side???
    P.s- I know a way to prevent the oil, sludge and carbon build up to intakes- but I won't say on the internet!

    Some comments are not showing on this video, but I will try and answer them.
    Lisa Williams commented: "What o’ring are you talking about? Mine doesn’t have any o’rings on the injectiors"
    Lisa, some injectors have 'O'rings as in the case I have shown in the video on a Nissan Patrol th-cam.com/video/WhMvWwcpAo4/w-d-xo.html
    However, the Triton 4D56 doesn't have 'o'rings and that is why I mentioned it. 😊
    Mike Thomas commented: "Hi Max, had any experience with Chinese injectors ?"
    Mike, I have not, but because these injectors have such precise tolerances, I only use genuine injectors, not remanufactured or rebuilt due to the time it takes to remove and replace the injectors. In my opinion, it's just not worth the risk.

    Great video, I've learned a lot from you.
    But can I ask you some questions ?
    1. How you remove the injector ? Did you use some special tool ?
    2. To clean the injector portal holes, Is it good to just wipe with the towel and spray some carb cleaner ?
    because I've got no air compressor. I worry that it won't be cleaned enough to seat the injector.

    • @MiracleMAX
      @MiracleMAX  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Someone,
      Removing an injector can be easy or hard, depending on if it has carbon build up around it. I was fortunate in this in case and they came out easily. Other times, you may need special tools to remove them.
      Depending on how much carbon there is on the seat, you might be able to clean it up with a spray and rag, but it is hard to access. Other times, the seat may be damaged and you might need a seat cutter at that stage to repair any damage.

    Hey mate I have installed a new head and reinstalling my existing injectors but I am finding it hard for them to seal with old and even new copper washers. Is there a way or technique to seat them properly without them leaking?

    • @MiracleMAX
      @MiracleMAX  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Patrick,
      The seats must be absolutely clean, the bolts must be torqued to a specific tension. Copper washers should be replaced every time the injectors are removed. Are you losing compression past the washers? The injectors may be damaged on their sealing surface. Is it a new head or reconditioned? Perhaps someone has cut the seats on the head before and now there is not enough tension on the injector as it tries to seat.
