Great video. The guys on Macbreak have said this might be the iPad replacement, not the iPhone. So many iPad features made more sense now that the Vision Pro is here, like Universal Control. Even starting out strong as a consumption device might indicate they are on the same track. I’m tired of the anger coming from people who prefer gaming headsets directed at TH-camrs who enjoy the Vision Pro. Have fun playing your games, this device is obviously for people who don’t prioritize gaming first.

Thanks, Fernando! This was a delightfully detailed and comprehensive video.
My sister is a teacher, and for a while, she was using her iPad Pro as her main computer. She was quite happy with it, but she found that she couldn't buy textbooks on it because the vendor saw it as an iPhone. Now Apple has fixed this in iPadOS, but it points to the limitations of trying to use the iPad as a "real computer."
This is the first time that Apple has presented us with an entirely new way to interface with our computers since the introduction of the original Macintosh in 1984. It's just as hard to describe the user experience to someone who hasn't tried it as it was then. Incidentally, the cost of the Vision Pro, adjusted for inflation, is half the cost of the original Macintosh. That first "Mac" was seen to be underpowered, released with few available programs, and not expandable. Who was this even for?
I'm still trying to figure out a practical use for the Vision Pro. I only see media consumption.
To me, it looks like a really fancy 3-D iPad in front of your face. Thanks, I'll pass.

If tech purchases were based on “does it fit into my workflow?” We’d still be using typewriters.
The AVP is the coolest and most enjoyable experience I’ve ever had with a piece of tech. I thought that’s what it’s all about?

I like how we’re now reaching the point in the AVP honeymoon phase where reviewers are hitting the “It’s cool! But also, I’m not sure I need it or how it helps me” post-coitus clarity moment.

Here Is A Summary Of The Video:
The iPad Pro and Vision Pro share similarities in their hardware design and computational power. The Vision Pro’s impressive hardware and spatial awareness capabilities are reminiscent of the iPad Pro’s evolution. Both products showcase Apple’s commitment to innovation and design prowess.
The Vision Pro, like the iPad Pro, boasts impressive raw power and spatial awareness. However, both devices face limitations in terms of software and productivity, hindering their widespread adoption for work-related tasks. Despite these challenges, the Vision Pro’s immersive capabilities offer a unique and captivating experience.
The Vision Pro is a powerful and innovative device, but its high price and lack of clear purpose make it difficult to integrate into most workflows. Despite its impressive capabilities, it needs a more defined use case to justify its cost. The iPad Pro, on the other hand, has found its footing in the market with various versions catering to different user needs.
The Vision Pro lacks a clear purpose, but the speaker is open to discussing its potential. The speaker invites viewers to share their thoughts and encourages further exploration of the device’s productivity capabilities.

Current use case: Working while reclined in the back yard ( I hate desks), Awesome movie experience, Peace of mind in a small urban apt when it's too late at night to visit nature. If we can add an accessory to support an ace console gaming experience it would be worth $3.5k to me. I think remote play for gaming isn't pro enough. If they created a virtual interface builder to create virtual tools to operate any web app UI or native app that'd be awesome. Haptic accessories would be great too. I love keyboards but haptics in general are very satisfying. Gloves with small vibro-haptics on palm and finger tips and tracking helpers may make virtual keyboards useful and it'd be cool to use virtual sliders and dials and feel ipod like clicks. They should also support developers is creating physical controllers that get AR tracking and overlays for them.

To me, thinking of the base functionality of the AVP as "an arbitrary number of virtual iPads Pro" makes sense; all of the 3D and spatial features then extend the experience in interesting ways.

Ok, as many people are pointing out, it is difficult to identify a significant use case for the Apple Vision Pro with Apple's current marketing strategy. I agree. But.
In terms of physical capabilities, how exactly is something like a Windows 11 PC any different, a device that I use for many hours, every single day of my life?
TH-camrs can edit videos on a PC.
Spotify, Netflix, and TH-cam fans do not have to use alternatives on a PC.
Gamers might have access to a much larger selection of games on a PC.
(And I'd say that even those limitations have a high chance of only being temporary).
But what about all the people who are not TH-camrs or PC gamers?
How exactly does using an Apple Vision Pro instead of a PC limit those people? From what I've seen so far from reviewers, it doesn't seem to have any further limitations.
As a PS5 gamer who is not a TH-camr (or video editor), those limitations of transitioning from a PC that I mentioned would not affect me personally. The only things that would affect me are all positive. The ability to get work done without sitting uncomfortably at a desk. The ability to multi-task like nobody has multi-tasked before. And the opportunity to immerse myself in ways we never thought possible in the past.
(PS. You can't make the excuse that typing on an Apple Vision Pro without a keyboard is not a good experience, because typing on a PC without a keyboard is not an experience at all.)
My opinion so far is that the Apple Vision Pro is for console gamers/VR gamers/non-gamers who already have a gaming console such as the Quest 3 (or are not interested in gaming), but are looking to purchase a new productivity device such as a PC. It is a superior alternative to that productivity device that they were already going to buy. Superior in that they will never even notice any of the limitations that are not present in high-end PCs.

Tomorrow I’ll have had mine for a week. I think Apple has captured the future of computing IF they accomplish 3 things; cut the cost in half, cut the weight in half and double the battery life. To become the iPhone of the future they need to do all 3 things twice. There are many more refinements needed of course just as the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Macintosh have all had significant refinements over many years.

The biggest difference between Jobs telling us what the iPhone is for, and Cook telling us what the VP is for, is that we were an unexplored frontier in the early 2000’s. There really wasn’t much out there in terms of tech that had a specific niche or purpose. Everything was still sort of new.
Today, we have hundreds of products and services filling all kinds of niches so it would make sense that the VP doesn’t necessarily have some “thing” git can jump into. You can say the same thing about the latest phones, tablets, etc. They don’t fill a niche or purpose either, at least on a grand scale. That’s why so many people keep their tech for years and years because it does everything they need.
I believe it’s best to just look at the VP as an alternative to doing what we do on our current devices but in a completely different format. I don’t think it’s filling some gap in our current hardware/software. It’s just something new and different and the market will determine where it belongs. For now, it is a “toy” of sorts so that’s ok. So was the original iPhone but look where it is now.

Great point, it has been the one thing keeping me from buying it to try and do coding on. Like the iPad I just think it will always be stuck in limbo missing the Unix layer that makes the Mac OS work so well for must developers. Seems it does well for other work needs but I just can not see Apple treating it differently than iPadOs

I agree completely. Last month I upgraded my 2018 ipad pro for an M2 ipad pro 1tb. I almost got the Vision pro as my new rig, as I’m 100% IOS, using mostly web, Scrivener and Procreate. If I was confident about using Procreate on the Vision Pro it might’ve become my new main driver. Glad I got the M2 ipad pro, as I don’t think I’d hang out in my coffee shop wearing the VPro… yet lol.

Dude I just wanted to know if the ipad works with the apple vision pro. Can I use it as a screen and can I use it if I have guests to see what they see when I let them use my AVP.
I have the AVP and I watch 3D movies (and regular TV and movies) on a theatre-sized screen with spatial audio. I use it as a giant monitor for anything i do on my Mac while having extra screens for Apple Music or sports on a screen just to the side. I'm writing this comment on it right now. I went to spain and took a bunch of panoramas... I've looked at them with my AVP and it's mind boggling. I brought it into my work and took some spatial video photos of them spinning around in chairs and making hand gestures and I'm able to rewatch them later like I'm still there. The thing is insane and it's obvious what it's for.

My impression is get a decent screen Tablet with top of the range connectivity (Wifi/Cellular (6e/7 or 5G) and then run a Cloud PC for a sub per month if you can afford it. You could then have a tablet as your main and only PC, then. Go for a cheaper tablet with screen/connectivity and sub and that is better than wasting money on expensive hardware eg ipad pros you can't really use to replace a computer because of ipados limitations, everyone knows about.
As for the AVP, again same reasoning: Buy a headset that's cheaper and lighter and just runs multiple screens without all the extra stuff that can plug into your computer and that seems a better option to me if you like that set up. It could then help your work flow but affordable and portable and cross-platform too.

Certainly, the next iteration is going to reveal Apple's own perspective on the matter, whether or not it'll be a giant ipad, or a work machine. If VisionPro2 gains the ability of multi-macbook displays (maybe with macbook pro lineup, idk) then we will know that Apple is going for the encompassing machine route. If they don't, then we'll find out that this is merely meant as a monitor replacement.

I use my iPad Pro M2 mostly for reading and studying material, highlighting important stuff and writing notes as I go. And though I just got my AVP, but have barely used it (caught the flu the day after I got it), I'm not sure I can use the AVP to read and study material, making those notes as I go. So I asked Gemini and it confirmed, "Unfortunately, the current capabilities of Apple Vision Pro don't allow for direct highlighting and note-taking within apps specifically designed for reading and studying." But added, "Overall, while the Apple Vision Pro isn't currently ideal for replacing your iPad Pro M2 for reading and studying with direct highlighting and note-taking, exploring various workarounds and staying updated on future advancements might offer improved solutions in the long run."
