    This was actually one of my thoughts while watching VP connect to macbooks. Because once connected, it kinda sucks that the physical display is useless but you still need the keyboard and trackpad. But if you could remove the physical screen, then no waste.
    Honestly really cool and i think would be a good use scenario in like a version 2 or 3 or the regular consumer version down the line. Most ppl dont need a laptop all the time but the few times we do, just to connect to it with a “display” you already use would be cool.
    Like if iphones could dock with a headset and offer the same software and fidelity that vision pro does. but then when you wanna use a macbook you just “look” at it and connect.

There is basically nothing in terms of hardware stopping them.

    @gemini62167 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This isn't stupid at all, it's actually brilliant and I wouldn't be surprised if it were to become part of the future of computing eventually. First, it completely eliminates the necessity of a screen (obviously) then it frees the user from the limitations of size and placement. My only thoughts would be does the resolution compared to that of the original screen? Is it as clear and crisp, the colors and contrast comparable? For those who use their machines for image production whether still or video, these things would be important. The next question is the reality of expense. The VR is expensive far beyond the average user's pocketbook unless (like most Americans) being willing to go into debt and chain themselves to a lousy job as a result. I mean, after all... we're just talking about things here and we do this for far less important things.

      in my country the vision pro is almost 6000 dollars, a quest 3 is ~1000 dollars in my country and virtual desktop is 40 bucks, so... 1040 dollars vs for basically the same result but on any computer not just a poopy mac and its 5000 dollars cheaper (apple vision pro is a waste of money and materials)

    Great idea for my 2017 "FlexGate" MacBook Pro. My screen is almost unusable and it's hardly worth spending the $$ for a replacement display, so why not use it with the Vision Pro? In fact, there may be a whole new market for old MacBooks with serious display issues. My question is, is there a compatible MacOS that will work with the 2017/24 Mac/Vision Pro?

      Sadly, no. That Mac only runs Ventura, and Sonoma is required. The very next MacBook Pro (2018) would work though.

    Love it! Considering doing it! Question #1 - Be great to know how much longer the MacBook's battery lasts, playing video in Vision, without its hardware screen, vs. playing video on its hardware screen. #2 - Wouldn't it be great if you could select higher than MacBook screen resolution? And have a huge virtual screen in Vision be curved around you? Boom!

    This is very cool... I would probably do it also, seems only logical, and fun... I love to modify stuff... I got a Asus zephyrus last year, and within an hour I ripped out w*****s and replaced it with a Linux system, always do it, no matter if it's a 3000$ laptop or something I found in a dumpster, I'm a Linux man, and that's the only reason why I don't have a M3 mac now, I might get one soon, but I can't afford it right now, too expensive... I do 3D modeling and animations on Blender, so I need lots of GPU power and RAM... Anyway, nice video, very good lightweight solution for a big screen :)

    How do you deal with having it in your backpack when any key press turns the machine on? I know without a display, the main battery drain was the display which is non-existent. Best solution I can imagine is some sort of hard shell case contraption that prevents the keys from being pressed. Curious to know if anyone has a workaround for this?

    I think it's a great solution for MacBooks with broken displays. Or, if you wanted a cheap Mac and purchased one off eBay with a broken display to be used on your Vision Pro. But I wouldn't remove a display off a functioning MacBook, it just doesn't make sense.

    Truth is, laptops are overrated (and just a fashion for a decade or three). I'm an '80s PC/Mac user who grew up with desktops and screens that were much bigger than a keyboard. Well done -- you're facing the reality, using VR.
