- Quick guide for removing drivers side OEM Philips HID bulb (burnt out after 6 years) with upgraded Osra DS3 Night Breaker Laser HID, best bulb on the market. Just search this term on ebay, cost range should be between $70 and $120 for a single bulb and $125 to $175 for a 2 bulb set.
You actually do not need to separate the top and bottom of the air box. Just loosen the screw to the c clamp and pull the whole thing out. Those 6 screws don’t actually hold the air box to the car. Makes this job that much easier.
There you go, two ways to do it! Was my first time doing this but good to know...
I just changed these out and I am now kicking myself for not watching your video. I got as far as removing the filter top but didn’t think the filter bottom was removable. So 30 minutes later and a bruised hands I finally got the bulb in. I will definitely go your route next time b

Thank you! The manual says to remove the headlight, which includes parts of the bumper and grill! This was easy, took about an hour total.
Don't you love how the manual always makes you think these super simple change outs are so involved because they want you to visit your local, extremely overpriced, Range dealership for a $700 change out? On a related topic, supposedly new LR leadership has finally realized that brand perception and reliability is actually important and directly connected to sales so at least the fancy new owners of the 2021 forward will enjoy a more positive experience.

Hi Todd. How did that aftermarket bulb compare to the OEM one in brightness color, etc? Considering buying aftermarket but want to make sure it is consistent with the oem bulb. Thanks
Perfect fit and perfect color match! I did a lot of research and had only found one set that meet and exceeded the OEM version. Had to order it from Germany on eBay but it was a perfect and much higher quality. I see no difference at all between the two, very happy with the viewability and distance.
Thanks for the info. Is it important to change both headlight bulbs at the same time, even if only one of them is out? Is it similarly easy to change the bulb in the other headlight?
They do recommend doing that to ensure you have even light temperature but these were the best and most similar OEM replacements (and most expensive, another reason I didn't replace the other that is working complete fine) I could find. I see absolutely no difference in brightness, color or effectiveness.

Good question, I would just look up your vehicle on ebay and search the Osra version I mentioned in the description. I'm sure it's similar, mine is a 2014 Supercharged, doubt the headlamp or specs are different from a 2015.

Now are these like a bright white,blue,or yellow type of color? Trying to replace mine in my L405 full size..Land rover tried to quote almost 700$ for 2 bulbs lmao
Yea, LR will always try to screw you when they can, very unfortunate business model but based on my research, these were the top of the line upgrades to OEM for L494, I'm not really sure about L405. These bulbs are an almost identical temperature (very clear type white, some hint of blue) wise to the other factory bulb that is still working. The Osra bulb is amazing, offers much more distance compared to the OEM's but they don't look different when it comes to projection when driving. I'm very happy with the bulb.
Are there less parts to remove if you need to change the passenger side light?
I haven't changed out the pass yet but there will be different components to remove but I don't believe it would be something you can't do yourself. I'll create a video when my pass fails so stay tuned.

How did you know the light needed replaced, did the light go completely out or did it turn yellow?
It would flicker when I turned the headlights on (or when they came on automatically) then would go dark. Tell tale sign it needed to be replaced.

The link I included in my description is exactly what replaced the L494 OEM bulb, all information about the bulb size is in the ebay description.
Also, are those the stock 22s painted black?
Yup, painted gloss black by my neighbor who works at a paint shop, $500. Originally they were old many alloy/silver and I'm not an old man.
@@toddthom4508 lol! I have the same ones on mine and couldn’t find a good pictures of them painted black! I love them, I’ll definitely have to do mine now
@@jmitch2550 It was a game changer in look, really helped have more of a blacked out, "Black Pack" as they call it, a very European style. Don't get me wrong, the silvers looked good when it arrived off the flatbed but the black really enhances the look. You can likely take it to a local paint shop and have them do it on the side, throw them $500 cash or something, that is the way it went down for me. I will say for that price, they didn't sand them down or do a multilayered coat so you get what you pay for but it totally worked for me. Do make sure they paint sand and paint the lug nuts with at least 3 coats and have them sealed or even better, just buy some black ones. The paint will strip off the first time you get a tire rotation or if you ever need to take off your rims. Best of Luck!

What a faff this is, just done it on a RHD and the drivers side was bad enough.
The trick is to practice removing / refitting with the broken bulb before you try to do it with your £50 replacement.
Line up the small square notch (at the top of the housing) and push the bulb housing in and wiggle it so that you know it’s seated correctly.
Then pinch the top and bottom of the housing, push a bit firmer and twist CLOCKWISE so that the cable connector is facing at 3’o’clock.
I found it easier to fit the cable first and then install the housing.
It’s a pig of a job unless you’ve got small hands.
First time it’ll take you 30-mins…second time it’ll take you 30-secs.

No idea what the original Land Rover part number is for the bulb but if you have the same RRs I do, just order that model aftermarket Osram bulb and you will be good. Best of luck on the install!
