- We just returned from another 3 Days 3 Noches trip to Cancun and couldn't believe some of the major updates that have happened at the Cancun Airport since our last visit! In this video we go through the updates such as the Egates at the Cancun Airport and the new VISITAX. #cancun #mexico #travel

My wife and I returned from Cancun 48 hours ago through terminal 3. We watched a few of your videos prior to our travel and it was very helpful (thanks). The travel E-gates worked great for my wife, however, in my line the photo didn't want to take, so the customs officer had me come out and then sent me through a different gate. On entering the second line, I was through in literally seconds. We were also told by customs officers to hold onto our ticket with the QR code or we risk not being allowed to leave the country. For the visitax, we got online the night before but decided not to pay online but rather take our chances in person. We never heard another word from anyone about not paying, and our hotel staff on check in had no idea what we were talking about either. Thanks again for the great content, as a first time traveler to Mexico it was very helpful.

Used Nacho and his team per your recommendation 9/8-12. Just as shown in the video. He picked us up dropped at the Cancun Hilton AI and they picked us up right on time. Would definitely use them again.

Just came back from Cancun today. My S/O and I stayed there for 5 days during the July 4th holiday. We actually ended up arriving at different terminals because we took different airlines. Kind of wish I knew that before hand but our pre-booked shuttle service was very understanding and mentioned that it happens often. My e-gate area in Terminal 3 was practically empty and I was through them in a second. When she arrived in Terminal 4 at ~2 pm her e-gate lines were packed and it took her about an hour to get through them. We also got the QR code upon entering as you mentioned in your video and never ended up using it at all. In terms of the visitor tax, I talked to a Spirit Airline representative as I was unsure whether or not that was including in my flight ticket. My coworker mentioned that his was when he went to Cancun one week before me. The Spirit Airline representative ensured me that it was included and that I shouldn't worry about it. However, after I checked into my flight I got emails from Spirit Airlines that mentioned that the vistor tax must be paid and that it is NOT included in the ticket. At first I thought the email might have been a phishing email but it had my name, flight number, and everything. It also had official links to the website to pay the visitax and links to my Spirit flight as well. In the end, no one asked me for the QR code at the airport and I wish I didn't pay for it at all. I will be coming out there next Friday and staying at leblanc, please , please, and pretty please give us an update on that visit tax and their website, we need that good Intel you provide, and thank you so much about the info on the e-gates, I'll be looking forward to seeing them and using them (hopefully they will be working when I get there, there was another interview who said they were down when they landed ) and also to see IF it's as speedy as they say, and your right about immigration it is a hit or miss, but you are ACES to me, you and that guy from HARR TRAVEL, maaaaaan now that dude is very very detailish and thorough with his entire resort review not to mention he is funny , when he jokes with his camera man.....keep up the good work! We just came back from Cancun a few weeks ago and we held onto those paper tickets from the egates as well. There is an option to change that website to English but it was impossible to get it filled out. I asked one of the gate agents if we had to get those forms completed and he said no, nor did they ask for the tickets when departing Cancun. It was still nervewracking not be able to get it filled out, thinking we weren't going to be allowed out of Mexico! The egates also say that your passport has to be at least 6 months old to use them but our passports were only a couple months old and we were still able to scan through! Just my 2 cents! Love your channel!

We just got back from Cancun yesterday, we pre paid the tax before we left for Cancun last wednesday, and as you said on the way out from the airport, now one asked about the tax or the departure slip that was given to us on arrival.... but I guess had we not paid or didn't have the slip, someone would have asked lol..... also it was too late to change before I see your video about transportation, but next time, we will be booking your guy, although we never had any trouble or problems with ours (Cancun Shuttle) had a private car going, I think as there was only my wife and I and no one else was going to Playa, and then coming back, we again was on our own, but this time in a small bus... everything was great, apart from out flight Monday being cancelled, and not getting home until Tuesday night.... Great videos, and thank you they have been helpful.....

I would also add not to get sunscreen at your resort. At our resort, it was $35.
@@nancyoverweg2482 Yes. Everything on the resorts are ridiculously overpriced. I've always said they should just price their items reasonably and they would sell far more and make more money in the long run.

We used the e-gate in April, and they asked for the tickets when we wanted to leave Cancun. Luckily enough, we had them. We didn't need to fill out any forms.

We went in February this year and the airport was total chaos. No direct lines or signs for the lines. And resorts had smoking sections but nobody complied.

I went to Cancun in June , my passport was two days old and it scanned without any problems , I held the ticket with the passport and I asked about the form and she says it wasn’t necessary to fill it for now , I didn’t pay for visitax , my transportation was arranged so I just passed the people offering transportation , the airport was crowed but I didn’t feel it overwhelming

Hello! Coming to Cancun in a couple weeks. Love your videos. My husband has a sleep apnea machine, do you happen to know if the mini mart sells distilled water?
I didn’t see any but it doesn’t mean it’s not there. Sometimes the resorts can help you that too or the transportation company can stop if you have private transfer

Great channel! if staying at the Conrad near Tulum coming up. Would you recommend to rent a car if planning to go outside hotel ? or book shuttle and then schedule tax? any thought's. on rental

I rented a car.....it was easy, convenient...roads well marked. So glad we did, so many cenotes and ruins we saw......take a video of the car prior to leaving the agency. Get a car so much to see besides the resorts....! No problem.

Nice watch this, we’re going this weekend. Do you know if they’re implementing the minimum period validity with regards to the passport (for example 6 months) when entering Mexico? I just noticed my son’s expiring in 4months. Now I’m anxious about it
I don’t think so. Some other people commented that there’s were expiring in a few months and there were no problems. I think as long as it’s valid during your vacation you’re good.

Thanks for watching! Not always! It’s often shared transportation as well so you have to pick up or drop off at other hotels.
Not this years visit , but our visit in 2022 we payed the visit tax . It was cheap we did it online from home . Our travel agent actually sent us the info to take care of before hand . We carried it with us, but was never asked at the airport or any where for proof .

egates were so easy during our March stay! I'd not told my husband about them... He saw the long immigration line and sighed- I said- follow me! Lol, he was like why have you been holding out?!!! Hoping they are as easy when we travel next week... and I then go again next month- I've heard of some people getting flagged for using them "too often" because they are to be used for Tourists only and, I suppose going several times in a short period of time could appear as though you're on business. We shall see! I did hear there is a separate egates agent, so it's not like you have to go back and join the regular immigration line.
That’s great to know! Did you see children going through them. One agent said adults only but then someone commented her kids used them 🥳
@@3Days3Noches We did not see kids and I feel 100% positive as I read the guidelines as we entered for who could use them it said 18 and over. Now- that was March- things change. I do note that often on fan pages, etc. travelers still call their adult children their "kids" and traveling w/ adult children seems to be a rising trend- could have been the case?

I went in May and our resort requested our paper ticket. We never understood why. My antennas were up.

Your video is helpful as I am traveling there to attend wedding at Riu Palace Costa Mujeres. I was there in 2016, and I rented a car then from Alamo and it was very cheap. However, I checked recently and it's very expensive. Therefore, I'll be looking for airport transfer to the Hotel. Is there a company you can suggest? Also, after the wedding, I'll take the ADO bus to Belize. Thank you for sharing!

The ticket issued at the E-Gate: save it because on your way out of the country the airline ticket counter Clerk will ask for it since the passport was NOT stamped at your arrival. And no you don't have to scan the QR code on the ticket issued and go to the website and fill your information, by the way the website keeps crashing and you'll never get anywhere. I ask the airline ticket counter clerk about the issues and his response was they are working on it. As long as you have the ticket with your passport , you are ready to go.
If you use the standard emigration clerk they will not issue a ticket since the passport will get an entrance stamp

@@3Days3Noches believe me I started panicking because nothing was working and then I started reading the fine print that states that you can do either (why? ) present the ticket or go the website and fill the form.

Hi! Going to be going too Cancun in August and was just curious about the smoking ban I heard they have in effect. Are they enforcing it at all? I saw in the video the duty free was selling cigarettes so I assume its not enforced? Just confusing as I like to have a cigar while on vacation. Hoping yourself or anyone else reading this can help answer this for me! Amazing content too by the way, very informative 🙏🏽
Hi! Thanks for watching. I think it depends what resort you are going too. The cigars on the beach some are not allowing and only in designated areas. We were jus there and saw people smoking around town but it wasn’t allowed at the resort unless designated places
It’s supposed to be law but we saw people smoke in one area on the resort. We also saw security tell people to extinguish their cigarettes/ cigars. Personally, I like being able to enjoy a “smoke free vacation”

E gates in terminal 4 were a huge fail when we arrived in Cancun on 6/29. There was one queue for four e-gates. One gate was not working and the other three gates were not working more than they worked. There were three other queues to check in with actual immigration agents and they cleared all their lines faster and with longer lines to start. so in the end the Egate queue was the only one with people still in line after 45+ minutes. They ended up sending us all to agents to get our passports stamped.

@@3Days3Noches I felt so bad for the poor agent monitoring the e gates! She kept having to run around fixing things. At least our bag was waiting for us at baggage claim and customs was a breeze. 😊

I have been to Cancun 24 times we take the ADO all the time it is the cheapest way to get to Playa del Carmen I have never paid the tax

The only concern I have about taking ADO is that I’m worried about out suitcases getting stolen from underneath the bus. How do you ensure the security of your suitcaseS?

Thanks for watching. The free bus is usually a shared transportation so that means you have to wait for other people to arrive from different airlines going to the same hotel. It could add another hour to your trip just waiting. It is safe and more affordable but I prefer to pay for private so I don’t have to wait or share

I was charged $30 for sunscreen at that mini mart. Hotel about the same. Across the street from my hotel (grand fiesta Americana coral beach) is a supermarket that has a huge selection and sells for less than half the price of the mini mart.

We are going to Tulum next month from Cancun airport. We are planning to use ADO bus, but I can't decide which is better: to buy online ticket before the trip or at Cancun airport? What happen if we miss the bus because flight delay? 1,5 hours enough to go to the bus from landing (passport, luggage)? (We are coming from Europe.)

I booked Nacho for our honeymoon to Cancun because of your videos. I do have one question regarding our resort, Excellence Playa Mujeres. This is our first experience with an all-inclusive. How much is actually included in that all-inclusive experience? Is it one of those deals where anything beyond a basic buffet meal and a Coke costs extra? Or is it REALLY all-inclusive?
Omg how exciting. It’s really All Inclusive!! There are some up charges for better bottles of wines, liquor, romantic dinners and lobster dishes, but trust me you won’t need it!! I’m so happy for you ☺️
Actually, I stayed there several years ago. It is wonderful! When I stayed there everything was included, everything. Every restaurant, every bar, all the entertainment. Only thing you would have to pay for is optional tours. Did you look at their website? Should explain everything. Have a wonderful honeymoon!

No you can wait. Sometimes the popular ones sell out though. So I always book in advance.

It depends on the company. Usually they allow 30-60 minutes to get through the airport after arrival

Mexico always has a travel advisory and they amo it up in the summer because the US wants you to spend your vacation money in US. Same with Canada. I feel like now a days anything can happen anywhere!

Renting is totally fine when done smartly. There's a really nice joint rental center she never showed onsite at the airport. Driving in LA is worse than Cancun. Very doable. E gates aren't used even though they're sitting there.
Ppl say get pesos bc the stores can set the exchange rate AS THEY PLEASE so you can very easily be over charged. Also there's a version of Uber app across Riviera Maya. Jeez... The point of going to another country is to also try the local food not just resort food. Sheesh. Better tip? Don't drink the tap water!

The Five Beach hotel agent is offering me a membership that involved signing terms and condition and that I will get a $200 gift card after a 90 minute presentation when I arrived at the Hotel in Cancun. True but even if you pay double that, waiting in line for checked in bags or getting them stolen isn’t worth it for me personally to save the money.

You pay it online and get a QR code and people are supposed to be enforcing it at the airport but people say they are not Check out those other videos where I go into details
