@@kaijiuiloop5872 i perfer using the guard dog if i am using the stalwart only really pull it out when a bug breach happens near me i have to fight to quickly clear the chaff with the guard dog dealing with the ones that get through and close, and anything my stalwart cannot pen. using primary weapon otherwise so that i don't have ammo trouble as long as i keep grabbing 1 supply from resupply or pickup the loose ammo around. honestly i liked the guard dog even when it didn't have medium pen (i just use the MG instead) ever since they now resupply the guard dog with the loose ammo boxes laying around. also the guard dog still hovers and shoots around you when you are manning a HMG turret for all the firepower!
It does the job it’s meant to do extremely well. If you are competent helldiver with good aim, it can out perform the MG with larger enemies. Plus it’s a solid weapon that almost feels like a hard hitting primary.
7:00 Generally, the reason why people dislike smoke stratagems is because they don’t understand how to use them (and… really most other stratagems and weapons). Short answer: It works. You need to consider why you would want to bring smoke to a game. Defend an objective, breaking LOS, covering your advance. Smoke will cause enemies to be unable to track your position, so those few seconds of not getting shot at is precious. You gain time, time to activate a hellbomb, time to reload, time to move forward or away from enemies. It’s definitely for more strategic play, which the majority of players are not going to be adept in. In addition, many players don’t know how or where to throw a smoke stratagem, which can lead to inconsistent effects and negatively impact one’s opinion of smokes.
@@dreadtroopeer8884 I’ve never given them a go, but I can see how they would be helpful in those situations. I use my grenades for tanks or clusters of enemies to fill a roll my primary or secondary cannot handle in a pinch. That being said I have way too many hours in this game to have never used either stratagem.😓
There's one thing that like nobody uses... If you throw an eagle, like an eagle smoke, the bots will watch it fly by and shoot at it. It's a textbook distraction! I normally use it on Strafing Run, most powerful engagement tool in the game.
@ One of the things I’ve thought about is that if the majority of players on this game are also Arma and Squad players, we would be seeing a lot of different opinions on smokes and other strategic stratagems. I lament we don’t get enough people who can think past “point and click” in this game that has so many nuances and hidden mechanics…
@ 500’s are a staple for me on higher level. ORC is not a bad call to go with it, and thermites I prefer gas grenades Also, a strafing run can kill an impaler if it has tentacles down. And stalwart/crossbow can also quickly deal with impaler with tents down
@ I tend to run EAT’s as a secondary call down. So, 500, EAT, Sentry, Stalwart. Another loadout that I really enjoy (for games WITHOUT the armored bile spewers…) is Lib Carbine, Grenade Pistol, Supply Pack, EAT, 500, MG Sentry, and gas grenades. I tend to run the light gunner armor as well since it’s light armor fast, but medium armor protective. Lib carbine melts things quick enough, and the gas grenades can buy you some space. Though, I always throw one or two on bug breaches as well
Folks have been sleeping on this since June - after the damage buff both Stalwart and MG had the same TTK on charger butt that flamethrower did on charger leg. Glad to see that the balance patches have finally brought the power of eruptor/crossbow + stalwart/MG to light.
The Stalwart and Lib Guard Dog is part of my wife's standard load out. She gets high kill counts and loves the way it shreds bugs. It was the first heavy weapon she unlocked.
I think that the constitution should be considered as a starting weapon, as it is free and gives an initial experience of how to play as a sniper. Obviously for us players who already have more powerful weapons unlocked it doesn't seem like much
Arrowhead isn't balancing weapons based on how difficult they are to obtain, they are balancing them based on each other so every weapon is viable.. or at least they are trying to. if they did balance the weapons around progression the game would get extremely boring and annoying to play after having unlocked everything since 90% of the weapons would be useless and annoying to use, while the other 10% get boring after using them constantly
Stalwart has always been my fav LMG even before the buff, having a minigun that reloads like a primary is so strong and then just use Thermite or other stratagems for heavies and it’s great for bugs!
It takes balls to use light penetration against the bots. I love bringing the heavy MG on the bot front, and I'd recommend you give it a try! Really effective along with the Supply pack you're already used to.
i have this thought for a rework of hellpods/support weapons where you could customize the two sides and receive say an EAT and a Stalwart, or a Commando and an EAT or a backpack and a support or even a different primary weapon, which stalwart would be cool as a primary replacement, allowing you to optionally take a second support weapon on body. They could be used as like burnable cards rather than the 4 you always have through a mission, letting you diversify tactics and weapons.
If you have the stalwart you don't need the guard dog. Get the jump pack instead. It's more fun, lets you traverse more distance which is helpful if you are playing solo or even with a team and you just want to break off to do side objectives/sample-medals-req points collecting. Also it's great for when you are swarmed and need to create some distance from the enemy. You can also get up to higher places to have a better view of your surroundings or simply gain a tactical advantage. Grab an Hmg and you are OP! With the 2 remaining slots for the strats choose whatever you enjoy most. (I went for napalm and 500kg). I ran this build yesterday on bugs and it shredded!
Guard dog gives you a weapon with medium penetration. It's a very strong combination paired with the Stalwart for chaff, since swapping to the Senator revolver could simply put you under in terms of DPS to be able to reasonably deal with the swarm. With the Guard dog, Defenders pretty much take care of themselves instead.
I recently started using Stalwart+Scorcher combo on bots, Scorcher is perfect for heavier targets while Stalwart shreds through all of the normal automatons
What do you think are the best reasons to take the guard dog over the laser dog? I find its not firing nearly as often as I'd like, is much more dangerous to myself, and has ammo. Med armor pen seems nice, but you cant control what it shoots at. Laser dog now applies a burn, is like a pointer in poor visibility, has high uptime and generally seems to be more consistent in my experience.
In my opinion, the standard guard dog needs more ammo. The rover seems like it continuously fires without overheating. The guard dog kills a handful of enemies and then has to reload, which takes several seconds. You also have to constantly worry about replenishing ammo. I think the ammo should be doubled for the guard dog. it also is extremely inconsistent with its enemy detection. At times it’ll shoot at enemies I don’t even see, and other times they’ll be an enemy 10 feet in front of me and it will just look at it.
What are you on about? Unless you go alone for more than half of the game and you don't take any supply, it's really hard to run out of ammo. Also the targeting seems to work perfectly fine, and although it doesn't shoot continuously, it kills way faster, I'd say it beats the laser dog in kills per minute by far. If anything I'm worried it will get nerfed.
It's purpose is to heal. It is the best weapon so far at that job. It is both the best and worst healer as it is THE ONLY ONE! Now for the weapons with the purpose of killing things. I think they should have a one time use 5th strat slot you can unlock for 25,000 requisition. That way you have to be selective what mission you use it on.
