Is the roller appropriate for people with osteopenia?

It's always worth talking to your doctor about your particular body and what will best support it. That said, I have worked with many clients with osteopenia/osteoporosis who enjoy working with the foam roller as it provides a good core challenge without requiring a lot of flexion which is often contraindicated for bone density loss. I would recommend avoiding any of the moves that involve deep flexion (rounding of the spine / rounding over the roller), side bending or twisting) and using a soft foam roller which will feel better against your spine like this one: www.amazon.com/dp/B00E9B87FG?tag=lisadayyoga-20&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1
