thats... uh. I love the video, but what do you suppose that budget would be, if not sponsored for everything from their bikes over their fuel to the whole bus? The filming equipment? The postproduction? If this is a low budget production I dunno what they could do with some money lol
@hojetsala5178 Salaries for each presenter and camera crew. GCN really knows how to draw in the everyman to the point of making it feel like a weekend ride with fun and games when in fact they are being paid and go home to a family and mortgage. I don't doubt they are having fun though.
Exactly, and this made me completely underestimate him. Relative to the rest of the crew of course, cause I think they're all very strong (Daniel included).
That was a very entertaining video. Full marks to Dan for nailing the predictions and his rational for each drop. I would like to see a series of these last rider standing vids. Maybe hill climb, on gravel, even cyclocross, or a couple other unique ones. Could make it a cumulative points type of deal even for fun and bragging rights.
Fun! As a follow-up, how about a 24-hour challenge, Le Mans style: 10 - 15 km circuit, as many stops as you like for as long as you like, winner is whoever does the most kilometres. Night running should be included, with a spot about lighting kit, hi-viz etc.
@@Neilhuny You have to plan your effort: you could even sleep for an hour if you thought you could make it up on the road. The best approach is not to take off like a euphoric rocket, but work out a sustainable average speed before starting and stick to it from the very start. As a variant you could have teams of two so that they could take turns up front.
You could just join Rad-am-Ring which is on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany. 23ish kilometer circuit with 400hm elevation gain. It goes for 24h, either alone, 2/4/8 person teams.
@@johne7100 And on the Nürburgring the ascend is just under 10% with a short stretch of 18%. It is brutal, especially beyond the 200km mark. I'm not sure if I would still be able to do that again.
"The thing with Si is...he is very old!" Harsh Lloody :)! Thanks guys, enjoyed this. So glad 2024 turned out well for GCN and I am looking forward to what GCN brings to the table in 2025.
That was hilarious and so much fun. MVP of the day is Dan for such classics as telling Connor "Third place, middle of the group, very average.Sums up your career very well"! LOL. and then telling SI "I forgot to take into account the camera operator so you have to ride back as well". GCN at it's best.
Alex is just a class rider. Always looks smooth and composed on the bike and hides how hard he’s actually having to dig. Nothing more demoralising when you’re going all in than seeing the rider next to you look like they are barely trying.
This was great! I'd love to see another edition based purely on stamina - whole group stays together, no speeding off while someone's answering a call of nature, but it's just who can last the absolute longest (expect the strongest would end up going all day and maybe even into the night). Would be great fun to see!
Loved this, top work guys. A ride not unlike our gang's "steady through and off" back from the cafe. It's the surging that gets you. Totally admire Alex's poker face when Si got out of the saddle at the end.
Don't forget the pushup, situp, and pull-up contest:). Love it when you guys do your competitions and the banter between you all, jolly good show Lads.
I would love to see these guys race as a team with Dan in the follow car as director. I gotta believe they would utterly break legs against some other super fit masters. This was fun to watch!
What an amazing race and video there! 🎉 Thank you lot for a great watch before the New year! It was incredible to see the whole team together! ❤ Absolutely amazing performance by Connor, Si and Alex! I do hope Hank and Ollie recover and return to more cycling on the channel. And what a feat it would be to see Dan on two wheels! Anyhow, thanks team for a winderful year and all the best to you in the 2025! 🎉
Love this show even more. You guys have to do another race. I will be staying tuned. Thumbs up to Alex the winner, and well done to the rest of the team. Good predictions Dan.
I'd love to see this challenge become a regular thing, it's nice seeing all the presenters riding together! Surprised to see Conor holding on for so long 😂
What a great entry in the annals of GCN history! Hank good on you for showing up. You were clearly not well. An amazing performance for a sick fellow. You are a hard man. Ollie even though epic rides are more in your wheelhouse you hung on for a good long while. Impressive. Connor you always make me laugh with your commentary but you let your legs do the talking this time and you also hung on for a good long while. Nice work. Si you were cranking some serious watts and showed your competitive spirit which was inspirational. Finally Alex. I suspected you were fast but wow, just WOW! What an incredible performance. The pro scouts will have you on there list again. Dan, hope to see you ride again soon but good job on the predictions and being the wheel man. Get back on the bike next year for a rematch. Everyone -thanks for laying it all out for us to enjoy. Nice finish for the year. Cheers, D
No worries about getting dropped guys as cycling should always be a positive thing. For that reason, I have perfected what I call “the reverse drop.” That is where I drop the peloton and watch them go from the back and then go on to enjoy a solo ride (or in your case, flapjacks)!
This was fun! I am really astonished by Alex!! I was right upto Simon dropping! I thought Simon would be winner! But the reality is that we are all winners for having fun watching this video!
Would you love to see a GCN presenter challenge like this one in the summer? 👀 What other challenges would you love for us to take on? 🔥
Send Hank & Si (or Alex) to Hawaii to ride the longest & one of the hardest climbs in the world: Mauna Kea. From sea level to 14000’
Do the challenge on a loop with proper climbing, so Ollie can have a chance to drop all others😊
Next time with attacks.
Should be a three stage race consisting of road race; hill climb and time trial
Next time, take some long climb.
Alex should have a special GCN yellow jersey until the summer challenge
@@O_bonito haha
@@O_bonito love it! 🤩😂
Petition for GCN to give alex his yellow GCN jersey!!
Yes. Yellow Alex
Excellent idea! 🎉
You guys don't need a big budget, videos like this are very fun thanks to how great you guys are.
and the whole thing was an ad, so they got paid to make it!
You don't need a big budget when you have a free van sponsor.

Lloydy knows the team so well! Bang on with those predictions 😮
Hei! Spoiler alert!
@@RoScFan serves you right for reading the comments before finishing the video!
@@RoScFan Rookie mistake
He should be a THE GCN SD
bad luck he didn’t play the lottery that day
Love that Hank and Connor have so much faith in Lloydy's driving skills that they still wear their helmets on the bus 😅.
You're more likely to suffer a head injury in a vehicle than on a bike regardless of the driver!
@niklasa.5622 Thanks, I literally laughed out loud at that one!
Check out Alex’s smirk when he went past Si at the end 😂
Si is out of the saddle while Alex is sitting, that's the clue
He can’t hide his racing roots - also he has his position on the bike so dialled in - absolute pro
Except for Ollie they all have racing roots.
Alex and the Si-borg are just staying in a good shape.
Or lets say: a little better shape...
All of the efforts in that video were Fing hard.
He had bad wind
That relatable moment when Simon turned round and just went f**k. If you’ve been there you know!
100%!!!
Alex is so humble and unassuming, yet an absolute weapon, silent assassin. Love this, top work guys, more real, authentic content please
Exactly, and this made me completely underestimate him. Relative to the rest of the crew of course, cause I think they're all very strong (Daniel included).
The smile from Alex after Si's unsuccessful attack was priceless.
Yes a summer chain gang wirh super fit Dan 🤯
Ollie didn't get dropped, he just wanted to make his fans happy.
Plus who would t want to hang out in the swanky van on a cold day?
Rumours are he’s started an Ollie Fans Page
Ollie's waiting for them to do a proper endurance challenge instead of a short race. He'll out-last them all!
@@eddjcaine ROFL brilliant! 🤣🤣🤣
@@eddjcaine That was great!
6:32 Come on GCN, that needs to be your first book of 2025! The Big Book of Cycling Excuses, and How to Overcome Them.
Great idea
Maybe make it another section on the GCN show. So you can send in the worst excuses you heard on your rides.
Really happy to see Lloyd in the GCN screen... I still remember him presenting and I learned alot...
The bragging rights in GCN Megabase have never been so big
Office hierarchy has now been written for the coming year, with chances in the summer to up your positions. "To The Death"
Great video guys. Well done all. Kudos to Si for keeping that up whilst balancing family life where finding rest/recovery is the hardest bit!
AMEN TO THAT!!! -- the "Dads Club"
Best vid you’ve done in AGES!!!
i think u need to bring in some GTN and GMBN presenters in this challenge
Good idea, just as long as it doesn't involve running, swimming or off-roading
As long as the tt bikes are allowed and no drafting gtn would do a lot better
Yes...all of them 😊
My guess would be Hank Conor Ollie and no idea between Alex and Si…
Just so there are more to get dropped early?
One of the best for a while, great to see all the guys together and the banter was first class. Well done Alex
This was the best presenter challenge yet. Tough, no BS straight up hard riding. Loved it! Chapeau to Alex for being the boss.
Thank you to ALL of the crew , and the presenters ! That was fun ! Happy New Year , be safe , eh ?

Most fun vid in a while. Great idea, and well done all for being good sports. If Si was 10 yrs younger he would've pulled it off - just!
I thought christmas was over, then GCN came through with this absolute gift of a video!
That was fun. Dan would need to ride that circuit 44 times to simulate Manchester to London.

Fantastic predictions by Dan
His wisdom seems to be matched only by his muscles.
Love the vibe of the van from the get go - so chummy and fun. Also, is Lloydy basically the GCN dad we didn't know we needed?
as long as he leaves the dad jokes behind, it is fine
