I don’t know if you know this yet or not or if you have recorded too much of the game already but I want to tell you a helpful little tip. You can force the doors open of your main base and they would still count as separating the rooms. This makes it so no one gets slow down by opening the door first. Of course you wouldn’t want to do this for your air locks because there’s obvious reasons. But for like doors leading to the bathroom bedroom kitchen research table other junk like that perfectly fine and makes everything more efficient and just a little bit faster.
About air locks. Making air locks with a bunch of doors will ALWAYS somehow let in some air. It is much much better to get a liquid airlock done, there's a bunch of guides out there on how to make them!
@@gray9173 This is as on god as it can get because I've tried making an airlock for the chlorine biome and it just keeps getting through the lock somehow. My fix was to put in a gas ventilator that would just throw the bad gases back out of the airlock and into the initial biome it came from
They don't actually need to wear any hat to do a restricted task, they just need the skill. As far as i know hats are purely aesthetic or for organization
There’s a guy I’ve watched who always offset his floors by 1. His reason was, if your dupes got exhausted carrying something up a large ladder, they will drop what they have. Then, they have to go down, pick it up again, and climb. This could cause a loop where they basically get stuck climbing a ladder. If you offset it by 1 and they get exhausted, there’s less distance to pick up that item again. It’s up to you, obviously, but just figured I’d tell you what I know.
Yes, in these cases it could be helpful. It is also done in real-world mines. What about transit tubes in this design? I also create 4 wide shafts for the main routes and the forth one is used to plant 'wild' plants to get the nature reserve bonus every day. All other tiles in that 4th column that are not used for plants can be used to create oxygen or clear it with deodorizers.
Regarding skills, they don't actually need to wear the hat to be able to do that skill, they just need the skill point assigned. The hat is more of a visual thing for you to easier distinguish between their priorities.
Priorities in this game are a little weird. If you have dupes with increased or decreased priorities on certain tasks, think of it as a separate priority list for that dupe. Even if an operation task is set to 9, that dupe will ignore it if there's even a priority 5 (normal) digging errand because they're set to prioritize digging. I don't know if it's that literal or if there's a weird algorithm involved, but I get better results if I think that way. I imagine this is why most people struggle with tasks in this game. People often end up with everything as high priority because "otherwise nothing gets done" - no, you just didn't do it right. I highly, HIGHLY recommend you look into Francis' ideals on tasks, that dude has it down to a science.
@@Alex-0597 Similar, dupes will always prioritize the jobs you assign them. Assigning the right ones to dupes is essential. You don't want your science dupe doing the level 9 digging, that's a waste. The system works very well, just learn it properly.
3:38 It's better to have your dupe with many interests with low stat then only one with high stat, that's because you can specialize them in more than one job without getting punished by morale.
Indeed. Good combinations for starting dupes I found: - Digger with Building and Suit Wearing. - Same as above. - Researcher with Piloting and Suit Wearing. Starry Eyed trait is also very desirable. Loner works too if you can't get Starry Eyed. Rolling all three takes some time and can be frustrating though.
When I heard of the name of the group I automatically start singing ABBA and I’m unsure if that is intentional or a coincidence either way, I love it! 🎶Tonight the super trouper lights are gonna find me🎶
i have to agree with you sometimes i like to go into a game blind but most of the time i like going in seeing things and how they work. looking at the options and classes and picturing things in my head how i want to do things.
Wish I caught this vid earlier: Pravus made a big new player oversight on Dupe selection. Took single passion ones. Why? Single passion start with more skill in a spot, but fewer desired skill paths. Having three starting skills means three passions. The lower skill quickly trains up to offset the difference. However having three skills means a Dupe can go down a few different hat paths with far less stress issues. Always happy and productive. Very powerful mid to late game.
The key to early game is dig. You only stop digging when the surroundings tell you, you can't. Such as you find space (no air) and hot areas that hurt your dupe. Digging finds things. The more things you know where they are the better. You want to know where water might be. Water is life. Of course you'll never have no water. But you want it to make air and grow crops if you go that way. Rule 1 dig. Rule 2 dig. Rule 3 dig. If you think you should be doing something else, dig unless dupes are dying.
You can turn a room into a Carbon Dioxide Trap: You normally build 4 high rooms and place the door on levels 1+2. What if you placed the door on 2+3? Or 3+4? With 1 or 1+2 being filled by walls. That would allow at least the lower levels 2 levels of a room to collect some heavier gasses to displace oxygen. Naturally it can not be a room people are supposed to work in, only a storage place.
The meal lice on the top row won't grow if there's no floor beneath the farm tile and the meal lice on the bottom won't grow due to insufficient space above them
I prefer to have dupes doing both digging and construct things. It is more effective. They should also do the delivery just to be self-sufficient. In that case we limit the time they spend to travel.
You should play Invisible Inc - by the same developers as Oxygen Not Included. It's a lot more tactical than strategic (which I think is what you prefer), but it's a fantastic tactical puzzle/stealth game, and SUPER underrated. Might be Klei's most underrated title, period.
Pravus: We're gonna call this the Super Dupe-r Group-r Me: 🎶Tonight the super trouper lights are gonna find me ^-^ Shining like the sun :3 Smiling, having fun :D Feeling like a number one
I recently found a game that's more brutal than this. It's called Lobotomy Corporation. You have to manage an SCP like facility. Interact with abnormalities, watch them brake out and kill everyone, learn what happened, reset the day.
Oh what what engineer high five! Well engineer in training. We’re doing research into using wireless signals to detect heartbeats, illnesses, and medical diagnostics all using 5g/Wi-Fi
Can't wait to see Pravus yelling at the dups for following Pravus' direct order and Pravus sacrificing the dups while telling how selfish they are. Praise Gimli!
22:30 as you mention you do jump cuts etc. Could you just mention time you actually played each session? Just to give us perspective how long the gameplay actually takes? :-)
I've heard about this game for a while now. Glad you you took the dive so i can see it. I'm wondering if you should eliminate the jump cuts to spend more time with mechanics. This game reminds me of Rimworld, which I've been watching at Quill18. You ought to check it out and get a Rimworld game here. Love to see your take on it.
I wish you had gone with spaced out. Space travel is def a lot LOT better then when yu played years ago and there is a lot added to it then the base game
I so do love this game.. graphic, the way they act.. how it works.. but I get serious headaches if I do play it for longer than 1h... I just overthink and when I see I made a mistake.. I just want to reset it all... way better to see Pravus do it :P
I tried playing this game as I have been a longtime fan of Klei and the entire Dont Starve series. I remember when ONI first came out, it was difficult then and especially difficult now lol. I love watching gameplay and I love the graphics aesthetic but I guess I’m not as smart as I once thought because I have not a clue what to even do and what a majority of the items do & are. Lol. I watch gameplay where they’re selecting different wires, different machines, running certain loops and just attaching an oxidizer (I think it’s called, but regardless any machines really) leaves me stupid stumped and bewildered. I’ll stick to watching gameplay lol.
Towards the end of the video you mentioned that the hat pride stat increases. That is not my understanding. As far as I am aware, the hats are purely cosmetic.
Can't dig is the worst dupe you can pick. You are always digging. One that can't dig and a builder? He can't build if he can dig the area out. If a dupe gets stuck, sand cave in for example he can't dig out and could die. Every dupe should be able to dig. Maybe in a huge base a cook, maybe they would be always cooking. But that would be a huge dupe count. For new players never and I repeat ever take a dupe who can't dig. It hamstrings that dupe making it pretty much worthless since you are doing to be digging a lot in this game. If a dupe gets trapped, he's dead or could be if your diggers are asleep on a different shift. Taking bad dupes make the game harder for no reason. Any early game dupe who can't dig is a bad dupe.

To be fair he's actually right in this case. It's not needed
